  • Doohan wrote a book called "Beam Me Up Scotty" where he attacked and insulted Shatner, saying "I've never liked the man" and telling tasteless stories about Shatner's wig. That does NOT win you friends when you're on death's door.

  • Surprising how they all say Shatner never comes to their things... I don't see Nimoy either and he's not getting any flak...

  • Frankly, Takei has made shit up before and I'm neither here nor there on this anecdote. Don't much give a fuck about what any of these people are like 'in person'. I enjoy the shows they've done, and that's it.

  • Shatner is an egotisical Fuckwit. All the Charactors made the show and its not all about Shatner and to make a comment like that about someone who was ill i would have punched the cunt in the mouth and would have been well deserved. Look at what happened with the new film, he was asked to do a part like Nimoy was and he claimed he was never asked and if he was asked he wouldnt have taken it unless it was a staring role. Its always about him hes a fucking Arsewipe of the first degree.

  • The Shat is a legend!! Takei is just jealous.

  • @wtf2011ization i agree!! shatner is trek,,,the rest are fill ins.

  • It's not really unbelievable, because I know that Shitner is a fucking ass, but it's still hard to believe that even a callous asshole like him could say something like that about James Doohan.

What I really can't believe is that there are those out there who think Shitner can act. He's a no-talent hack, which unfortunately for us translated into just what was needed for Kirk back in the 60's, but that kind of crap doesn't fly these days.

George, keep on going after that moron.

  • I'm amazed at all the people who have defended Shatner, whether it be by saying that he just couldn't take seeing Doohan like that or saying mean things about Takei.

Somebody in the TrekMovie comments basically said that Shatner is an 80-year-old child and I've never found a more accurate description of the man.

Either way, George was right. What Shatner said was monstrous. No matter your view on cast politics, Shatner said a horrible thing during the farewell for a dying man he said he loved.

  • @0its0green0 Doohan had been talking shit about Shatner for decades. Why should he show up to Doohan's little party to get talked shit to on stage? Beeing around demented people who don't like you is no picnic for you are anyone else there.

  • Takei is always on the warpath for Shatner.

  • Some years from now they will all be gone and George will leave a legacy of bitterness toward Shatner. That is pretty sad; thankfully few will remember to make note of it.

  • Apparently Leonard Nimoy also left before this event as well. No word on what that was?

  • @mastermold2009: Nimoy had to go early for another event from what I've heard.

  • @fellowship91 Yes I just read that was why he wasn't there. Thanks anyway.

  • Before rushing to judgments... Also, taking into account the angst with which Takei has continued to speak out and rev up against the Shat, it gives one pause. Is Shat just a creep...? Is Takei holding a far-unnecessary and long-winded grudge? Who knows. Both have their good and bad traits no doubt.

  • @noirgwio You could, if you're really into grasping at straws, say that George and others are envious of Shatner's success, but this has come up over and over again for decades. Shatner is simply one self-aggrandizing, insensitive jerk. And when so many people who have worked with him come away with the same response it's tough to see the smoke and say there's no fire.

  • Alzheimer's sucks... And I can tell you, dealing with a friend or relative with it is very agonizing after a while. People need help helping their loved ones in that position. And frankly, you end up not wanting to have to see it or deal with it sometimes. Some people have no choice, others do. I can't speak to the character of Shatner, but I'd at least consider what the sufferer, caregiver and friends endure as a whole.

  • I cry when I hear Scotty die.

  • Beam me up FIRST
