Flooring both of these cars will result in acceleration yes, but neither will get any sort of respectable MPG. Driving both of these cars with intelligence and patience will result in good MPG. You cant get both at the exact same time. Plus your car started out as a 4 cylinder while the cobra is a 4.6L V8 with a supercharger. put the same amount of money into both, the cobra wins everytime
@CarbineGuy I think my 2 year old son understands that a car gets worse fuel mileage when it's being driven hard. If both cars were to go all out, all of the time, the Civic would still be getting better fuel mileage. It's not making as much power, it's not dragging around as much weight and it has a more efficient engine. The engine that powers this car can be had for less than the cost of a Kenne Bell supercharger. And yeah, at some price point the Mustang would walk all over this Civic.

I haven't been in more than a couple of Mustangs from this generation and maybe the Cobras have better interiors, but the Mustangs that I've been in didn't have any nicer of an interior than this generation of Civic. What does the even mean, V8 counterparts? No a 4 cylinder Mustang will not be as fast as an 8 cylinder Mustang, but who really cares? K series swaps are running low 13s to high 12s in the 1/4 WITHOUT forced induction or N2O. I don't know about anyone else but I've seen plenty of V8s that put up those same kinds of numbers.

The most recent Honda 2 liters make about 200 hp STOCK (hell so did some of the 1.8 liter engines), and some of the better tuners out there are able to get 340 hp out of them when NA and running on pump gas. This engine was put together by an amateur, it's a 2.4 liter and making about 300 wheel hp. So FYI, SVT Mustang 390 hp, 3700 lbs = 9.5 lb/hp. Civic HB 300 hp, 2100 lbs = 7 lb/hp.
He is saying that if the SVT mustang (03-04 in the video) were not supercharged, it would make 320 hp (which is what the 99-01 SVT mustang made, same engine, no supercharger). The most ever made out of a NA cobra motor was about 600. Impressive civic none the less.

The speedometer is driven off of the final drive, so it spins exactly as fast as the wheels, regardless of gearing.

Revs dont really bother the transmission much at all, it's torque that can be hard on it.
Power is around 300 hp at the wheels, weight is probably a bit over 2,200 lbs, maybe 2,400.

The cost of this car including the swap and engine mods is well less than Cobra costs when it's stock!
Also, a Kenne Bell supercharger for a Mustang costs more than the engine and transmission for this car.

Unfortunately it's not my car :0(. I had this very same generation of CIvic that I was preparing to modify in a very similar fashion. But then my son was born and that was the end of it. I do have a fairly quick Civic that I was able to swap a ZC into, but it's been nothing other than a great daily driver since it was finished.
Ricers drive me nuts too BTW.

The speedometer is driven off of the final drive, so it spins exactly as fast as the wheels, regardless of gearing.

My gf's car was a Jetta, so I guess it's not really the same thing. The only thing it had going for it was looks, but I've always loved ugly cars that look slow but haul ass. What does the even mean, V8 counterparts? No a 4 cylinder Mustang will not be as fast as an 8 cylinder Mustang, but who really cares? K series swaps are running low 13s to high 12s in the 1/4 WITHOUT forced induction or N2O. I don't know about anyone else but I've seen plenty of V8s that put up those same kinds of numbers.

No. A v8 that was modded similarly to your inline 4 would make easily twice the power and would eat this car for breakfast lunch and dinner. Considering that a 4 valve 4.6 makes 320 and 2.0 civics makes hmm 148.... Both naturally aspirated in stock form. LOL, sorry dude but your info is WAY off. The most recent Honda 2 liters make about 200 hp STOCK (hell so did some of the 1.8 liter engines), and some of the better tuners out there are able to get 340 hp out of them when NA and running on pump gas. This engine was put together by an amateur, it's a 2.4 liter and making about 300 wheel hp. So FYI, SVT Mustang 390 hp, 3700 lbs = 9.5 lb/hp. Civic HB 300 hp, 2100 lbs = 7 lb/hp.

He is saying that if the SVT mustang (03-04 in the video) were not supercharged, it would make 320 hp (which is what the 99-01 SVT mustang made, same engine, no supercharger). The most ever made out of a NA cobra motor was about 600. Impressive civic none the less.

Lets see. I have owned 6 Hondas in my life. I have "wrecked" 2 of them. One I hydroplaned over a 20foot ditch. the tow truck pulled it out. Only damage was the turn signal was cracked. I drove it away and for another 3 years. Then I had a 96 Accord that some *** pulle din front of me and I T-boned her. the ONLY reason it was "totaled" was the air bags deployed. there was NO real damage to my car. the tow truck driver drove it up on the truck. I think I would feel safer in a Honda then some
