  • These large groups like this almost always lead to lawlessness. They look virtually identical to riots. They're basically violating the law and they think that because they believe they have a "valid reason," that it's OK for them. Then, when they get sprayed & arrested, they whine about injustice, brutality, or America being a "police state."

    Wow. Americans are so spoiled.

  • I remember watching this on the news and thinking how idiotic these people were. There fees were hiked. Sure, that's something to be upset about, and sure, they had the right to protest. However GOING ON THE FREEWAY IS IDIOTIC. The Police and Highway Patrol had every right to do what they did. I think they should have done more. There were some minor cuts and bruises. These students want to complain about police brutality. They need to wake up and realize they got off EASY!!!!! idiots.

  • Their tuition is still relatively cheap compared to other institutions across the country...

  • The police were being terrorists taking thier hostage

  • rise students rise!!!!!

  • Fools.

  • Paintball guns now.. just desensitizes the next step to real guns.

Remember Kent State? It is bound to happen again.

  • @webdork69 No, it's not. That's why the police use pepperball guns instead of the real thing now. I'd respect the protestors a lot more if they stopped acting like oppressed victims and owned up to the fact that they were breaking the law and causing a massive disturbance. You want police brutality, look at the Oscar Grant shooting in Oakland. This is NOT brutality. This is a bunch of spoiled rich kids who think they can get away with anything being shown that they can't.

  • @preacherman86 You hit the nail on the head. These are spoiled kids whose mommies and daddies pay for their college tuition anyway. They just want to "fight the system." They don't know what the system is, or how to fight it, so they just basically riot and call it a "peaceful protest."

They are surely and simply nothing more than idiots.

  • @FoxeoGames Thanks for the kind words, but just so you know, my stance toward the student protests has shifted considerably. It was one thing back when kids were blocking off freeway entrances (what if an ambulance needed to get through?) and marching toward the police while shouting obscenities at them. The recent instance of a police officer excessively pepper spraying peaceful student protesters who were SITTING ON THE GROUND...

  • @FoxeoGames ...(continued from last post) WITH THEIR HEADS BOWED AND WHO POSED NO THREAT WHATSOEVER TO ANYONE NOR GAVE ANY INDICATION THAT THEY WOULD is completely different, and was unnecessary, irresponsible, and downright sadistic. Unlike the incident my previous comment was about, this IS police brutality, and I will be at the U.C. Davis quad tomorrow to add my voice to the countless others expressing their outrage. Peace.

  • It's a free country, so when people are protesting an important thing like massive fee increases, I say: Let the homework wait and join the march for freedom! It doesn't have to be violent: But exercise your free speech while you have it! Those starbuck-sheep better wake up and realize their Hard Slaved income will EVAPORATE INTO VAPOR in no time with this criminal leadership as Shwarzenegger carbon taxes our asses.

  • "Brutality" should not be listed as one of the tags for this video. Seriously. Politics aside, if a mob is dumb enough to advance on riot police and try to intimidate them like the protestors were doing in this video, they'd better expect to get pepper balled.

  • @preacherman86

How were they being intimadated by students without guns and riot gear or weapons? The police on the other hand had barking dogs on leases, tasers (which they used), pepperspray ball guns (which they used without hesitation), and riot gear...so who is intimidating who again?

  • @SexyPianist89 I said "try to intimidate." I don't think they actually pulled it off, but it was a nice effort. And yeah, the police were the ones doing the actual intimidating. That is their job after all. And I wouldn't say "without hesitation." They told the students to stop marching towards them first. The beauty of less lethal weaponry is that all these irresponsible, self-entitled suburban anarchists got to go home in one piece at the end of the day and finish their degrees.

  • Decades of liberal policies finally coming home to roost. You granola munching, dope smoking red diaper doper babies finally are reaping the whirlwind. How is that Hopey Changey thing working out?

  • The culmination of the Bush era depression.

  • @DougPaulDavis Nice try dude, anybody that cares to do some impartial research can find videos of Republicans warning that forcing banks to make subprime loans was going to destroy the real estate market, but ole Barney Frank and the cabal of corrupt democrats just wanted to buy votes. Now we all get to pay! What about ole Hope and Change going to save the day? Took Bush's deficit and TRIPLED it in his first year. Truth hurts, bud.

  • @CryptoDriver

Which UC campus do you attend?

  • @SexyPianist89 CryptoDriver's a complete wanker though. I'll give you that.

  • @CryptoDriver You, sir, are an exquisitely massive wanker =).

  • That's why I actually posted that part, I thought it was hilarious.

  • I love the end of this where you have people trying to do their homework, as a noisy parade is passing them by. You got the awakened (on one side) and the Starbucks-homework-sheep (on the other) all together in one building. That's why I like Davis.

  • "Sheep?" "Awakened?" If you guys want to be taken seriously you should stop throwing around self-righteous cultist lingo like that. And, you know, maybe organize a protest that actually doesn't involve vandalism or barring people from getting to work and school. Like pretty much every other Davis student, I'm against the budget cuts too. But you're not our martyrs, and I do not condone this kind of irresponsible, pointless jackassery as a substitute for legitimate, lawful protest.
