Slope boards are used for 1:1 slopes and so forth a slope board and a 9R with quick tilt and differential steering is one of the best machines ever made. They ruined the 9T's by taking out the V8 and putting inline 6's in them.
The 660B's 'big brother', the Caterpillar 666B is widely regarded as the best scraper ever made. It's so sad that Caterpillar discontinued the 660B and 666B in 1979 even though a few examples of both scrapers still exist in running condition like those shown here. Maybe some 660B's and 666B's will be restored to like-new condition and be displayed in museums or even reused in mines, oil sands, quarries and construction projects. I'd love to see videos of 666B's in action.
Nope, Ralphs machines still run the proper engines, all the ACI machines are DD series 60 repowered with mufflers on top of the ROPS, also listen to the one coming down the hill on the exhaust break, No D346 ever sounded like that, well maybe when it had dropped a couple valves!
If you think these are old, you should see ACI's SS40 scrapers.

If the push dozer is in second gear, it seems it wouldn't be needed. Great video.

@Gavin84w I love the sound of the Jake Brake on the 660. I have always wondered-why not a Jake brake in a scraper.
