Ppl have even suggested that the whole was more economical than about "liberty".

Well, all 300 Spartans led by Leonidus and 700 Thespians led by General Demophilus, gave their lives in that battle. The final scene is the battle of Plataea where 50,000 Greeks anhilated the remaining Persian invaders (around 300,000 of them). Its all true (however in real life, we didn't have the whole time-slowing down for decapitations thing, so it was probably lamer)

Spartans didn't wear red cloths, they usually faught just nude in their armor and there was more gay sex. Of course gratutious gay scenes and male nudity would make this film X rated and it would never get to the movies.

actually blade3327 leonidas fights the uber immortal ( the huge 'creature' chained up with the immortals ) which in mythology was a little kid who was deformed at birth and watched soldiers from persia train and tryed to copy everything they did.

This movie is based on a graphic novel.
I want to make a movie based on a Captain America comic where the Axis powers were helped by creatures from another planet. I'll portray Hitler as an 9-foot-tall homosexual with tattoos wearing a native American headdress, hire people who are ethnically Chinese to play the Germans, and hire an Inuit man to play a freedom-loving Stalin.
Only then would my movie match this movie in terms of historical accuracy.

You fuckin untutored americans should STFU!You hardly learn history,how would you know if this was true or not???The battle of Thermopylae DID happen,and there were REALLY 300 Spartans fighting against the huge Persian army!!!BUT:on the Spartans side were also 400 Corinthians,400 Thebans etc. so alltogether circa 4000 soldiers fought but that number was still evanescent compared to the enormous Persian army. Next time do a little research before you speak =P

I haven't only heard this from my them.One of my schoolmates had been a student in the US for a year n she told the same. OK,my first entry was ambiguous-of course not EVERY American is like that. As I said,I was talkin' about the ones who think the truth of what they believe is exclusive. Also:the comic IS based on reality.I know very few ppl learn about other countries' history,but we did.Years before the movie or the comic appeared. critics and others who continue to debate the accuracy or historical quality of the movie are completely missing the point. this is done by every culture as they tell and retell stories, recorded events, and anecdotes. the history channel, pbs documentaries, and other productions that actually claim to chronicle history have a duty to do so. but the claim that every book or movie should do so is pandering to the attitude of politically correctness and paranoia of 'offending someone'.

It's a movie people, based off a graphic novel, which is loosely based on history that has fantasy thrown into the mix. Of course Spartan's wore more armor in real life, and of course Persians didn't look like that.
