  • 00:40 seeing little birdies, 2:18 ouch my head.

  • "For me, Quest for Peace is the most personal Superman of the entire series. It directly reflects what Superman should be, and what he should be doing."

    --Christopher Reeve

"Except for fools and madmen, everyone knows that nuclear war would he an unprecedented Human catastrophe."

    --Carl Sagan

... fools, madmen and BITCHY fans who're psychotically obsessed with the TRIVIAL flaws of a movie promoting PEACE. There are FAR more important things in life than escapism or FX ...

  • "Sceptics tell us, and have told us for many years, that we are wasting our time pursuing the dream of a world without nuclear weapons, as it can never be realised. But more than a few people said the same about ending entrenched racial segregation in South Africa and abolishing slavery in the United States."

--Desmond Tutu, who rose to worldwide fame as an opponent of apartheid, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009

  • Maybe that strand of hair was attatched to something that COULD be cut -- how else would the museum have been able to connect it to the weight ..?

It really kills me when lazy ass fanboys pretend to be intellectuals ...

  • One major error in this film was when Lex Luthor cut the strand of hair which was suspending the weight in the glass cubicle. Superman's hair cannot be cut as long as he's under the influence of the yellow sun, as any devout past comic book follower would know.

  • "Millions of people in the United States were involved in the anti-nuclear movement of the 1980s. They watched The Day After with dread. Now the people need to be reawakened to the impending threat of nuclear war, and like the tiny trim tab rudder built into the large rudder of a ship, as it turns and they move, the whole ship of state will turn towards life and not death."

--Dr. Helen Caldicott, named by the Smithsonian Institute as one of the most influential women of the 20th century

  • This should be a stage act that Metallica uses before they come out to perform. Since the music is already going on and all. :)

  • Alternate ending? What happened to Nuclear man? Did he just go on living and killing and destroying, and also not even hear that Superman was back? Something here must habve been deleted.

  • WHO CARES how a flag is flowing in space? How is a MAN FLYING THROUGH SPACE? It's called SCIENCE FICTION, yugioh9502 ! How about focusing on science FACT for a change ..?

"In a full nuclear exchange, not everyone would be killed by the fire storm and the immediate radiation. There would be other agonies; the legions of the burned and blinded and mutilated; disease; plague; long-lived radiation poisoning the soil and the water; the stillbirths and malformed children."

    --Carl Sagan

  • how is the flag flowing in space

  • @yugioh9502 It's wired. That's what they do.

  • So does Superman just give up in this ending? Great music, by the way.

  • The only thing audience unfriendly about this is your ruse, good sir.

  • I do prefer the De-man suit! Black & Gold! More cooler than that 80s outifit of Superman ;)

  • "I had seen a television show in Boston. Children were talking about what it is like to grow up in the ATOMIC age. At the same time, people were saying that I had the attention of the kids and that I should take advantage of that, so I said, OK."

--Christopher Reeve, on why he co-created The Quest for Peace

"For me, Quest for Peace is the most personal Superman of the entire series. It directly reflects what Superman should be, and what he should be doing."

    --Christopher Reeve

  • The reason the movie sucked like it did was because the superman movie rights were aqquired by a company that had no clue what they were doing.

    1) they cut the budget before production so they lost the special FX team

    2) they cut the time lenth of the movie durring production prompting endless re-editing

You don't see Canon Film Group anymore do ya? WONDER WHY!

  • ZENTRY??

  • Wat song is that??

  • Comment removed

  • @NxtLevelPictures

The song is The Ecstasy Of Gold by Ennio Morricone

  • It was a "Cannon Group Film" 98% of the movies in the 80's were cannon films and out of that only 2% were good.

  • "For me, Quest for Peace is the most personal Superman of the entire series. It directly reflects what Superman should be, and what he should be doing."

    --Christopher Reeve, 1987

The ONLY "catastrophic failure" is on the part of the fans, who're STILL WASTING time/effort picking on a 25 year old film's SUB-MICROSCOPIC flaws instead of focusing on its message and helping to abolish nuclear weapons.

There's NOTHING "oversimplified" about it either. Get the fuck up and get to work!

  • 0:32 seems they like that position.

  • "The stark truth is that ONE single failure of nuclear deterrence could end Human history. The operational and deployed nuclear arsenals of Russia and the U.S. hold the Human race and all other species captive and at nuclear ransom. I am sickened that we still play this deadly game of nuclear risk with our fragile planet. There are NO national or political goals that justify a war that could terminate Human existence."

    --Dr. Helen Caldicott, 4/26/10

... thank God for Christopher Reeve ...

  • NO, "itbegins2005," NOT everyone understands that nuclear war is a bad thing -- if they did, you wouldN'T have so many snide bitchy fans talking shit about the Quest for Peace's TRIVIAL flaws ...

"Oversimplified?" It's called HOLLYWOOD, son! Reeve was under NO obligation to cover every single base. All that was necessary was for him to draw attention to the issue, which he did! If you want something that addresses the root causes, then YOU rustle up a few million and shoot your OWN movie.

  • Yes, Superman IV's intentions were noble, no one is arguing against that. But it was also a catastrophic failure as a film, and greatly oversimplified the nature of the international conflict that made nuclear weapons such a looming threat in the first place.

Of course nuclear war is a bad thing. EVERYONE understands that. So a movie that comes along to tell us that "nuclear war is bad" rather than trying to address the root causes of it can only come across as hopelessly condescending.

  • "For me, Quest for Peace is the most personal Superman of the entire series. It directly reflects what Superman should be, and what he should be doing."

    --Christopher Reeve, 1987

"Except for fools and madmen, everyone knows that nuclear war would he an unprecedented human catastrophe."

    --Carl Sagan

... fools, madmen and stuck up bitchy fans who're psychotically obsessed with the trival, sub-microcopic flaws of movie that's meant to promote world peace. NOT to placate SPOILED fans!

  • 2:08 dirty flag

2:13-15 to bad present movies don't have a scene like that... to much cgi crap

2:18= superman fail "ouch my head"

    2:59 clean flag

  • No NOT the moon rock that would weigh 1/6th of its Earth-equivalent mass!!! Ouchies!!

  • wow it sux

  • Que final más malo. Eso hubiese sido más malo que la misma pelicula. Lo digo con toda la sinceridad del caso como fanático 100% de las peliculas de Superman, protagonizadas por el legendario Christopher Reeve.

  • their cape still gonna move but probably not as much cuz theres no air, gravity has nothing to do with the flapping of a cape, and yes the moon does have gravity

  • One: how to the flag stay up if there is no gravity on the moon? Two: why are there capes flapping about while flying if again there is no gravity?

  • "For me, Quest for Peace is the most personal Superman of the entire series. It directly reflects what Superman should be, and what he should be doing."

    --Christopher Reeve (1952–2004)

Promoting nuclear abolition is FAR more important than whether some already colossally SPOILED fanboy was enraptured by a cinematic experience!

  • @NukeOrangeCounty Hey bitch ass shut up!

  • WTF?!!!

Superman gets his ass kicked...then gets his ass buried...then gets his sorry ass out, erects the flag, flies off & smiles at the camera......

    WTF??????????

  • Comment removed

  • There are more important things in life than whether some colossally spoiled fanboy was enraptured by a cinematic experience. There's the fact that this movie is one of the few OVERTLY anti-nuclear movies in Hollywood history, so we owe Reeve a HUGE debt of gratitude for having done this.

  • WHAT THE FUCK!

  • what is this song?

  • Comment removed

  • @23letters it's a song from "the good the bad and the ugly" w/Clint Eastwood, Metallica uses this song before they go on stage!

  • @23letters It's "The Ecstasy Of Gold" by Ennio Morricone.

  • Yeah Nuclear man had pure solar power. I assume thats what the beams are? Solar energy? So how could that hurt supes??? He gets all his power from earths yellow sun, so surely every attack from nuclear man would make superman stronger???? Wtf man???

  • WTF ? This isn't an alternate ending.

    Shame on you. Dislike button.

  • Comment removed

  • gay ass costumes here..

  • You could add Morricone to anything and it would be epic!

  • The music sucks...sounds like the death of superman...

  • How is this an alternate ending?

  • whats with the cowboys and indians music

  • What was this crap it was in the movie ass clown

  • what soundtrack is this?

  • You're right he wasn't out of shape. However CR really didn't like working out so by the 3rd movie, he was pretty much getting padded because he just didn't like it =(

  • This is horrible

  • what a shitty super hero... batman rulez!! xD

  • didn't this REALLY happen in the movie?

  • Sounds like music from one of Clint Eastwoods Spagetti westerns, is it? lol

  • @hulkster46a Haha Because it is! From Ennio Morricorn. Great composer. I think he did all the music for Clint Eastwood Spaghetti westerns and even one of his songs was in Kick Ass! WOOT! What a great trilogy those Clint Eastwood films were. :)

  • I met chris He was a great guy, he made me belieave a man could fly

  • i want those 3 mintues of my life back - what a crummy video - i mean about 300 videos here shows superman in the end scene before everything is solved

something obviously thinks it's funny.... which is not

  • Go watch Richard Donner's Superman...there's nothing to confuse you...The greatest Comic Book Film ever made...and set the Standard for Every Comic Book Screenplay that followed.

    CHRISTOPER REEVE IS SUPERMAN

  • those blast he fired dont do shit on those rocks but when he hit superman all of sudden it looks like its hurt superman

  • Damn, he never should've done this. And about this stupid creation from the Sun, FFS, Supe should be stronger near him ! Supe gets his power from sun so anything made outta of Sun should only bring him power. It's so annoying.

  • Ha! ... sorry I am a huge Superman fan ... but couldn't help noticing that even in this old movie they managed to get the conditions on the moon right (unlike in the moon landing footage and photos!) The flag is as it should be and not waving about!!!

  • @dellis80 So do i understand that you think the moon landing shots were fabricated ? The flag was not waving about, it had just been moved by the astronauts and would still move for a while even on the moon.

  • @BeachBoysGuy1.....Kid have you any idea where this music is from?

  • @Dandaniels1978 Wish I WAS a "kid", fella'. LOL It doesn't matter where the music comes from pal, it doesn't go with this scene in my humble opinion. Plus it's a poor audio recording as well.

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Fella.... since when did I make refererence as to whether or not I thought it went with this tin pot scene or make similar ref as to its audio quality? All I said if i remember correctly was that this music is EPIC! Which correct me If I'm wrong it is. Shabbat Shalom

  • @Dandaniels1978 You asked if I had any idea as to where this music is from, and i replied it doesn't matter to me because I think it does not go with the scene ..."epic" or not. Peace john :-)

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Yes because you originally opinionated "The music awful in my opinion" responding to my original opinion "The music is Epic" comment. I replied- (Minus billy the kid) "have you any idea where this music comes from?" Meaning the classicness of it! You came back with "it doesn't go with this scene, and something about the audio quality?" So my question to you is this, do you like this classic spaghetti western soundtrack "The Ecstasy of Gold" from The Good The Bad the Ugly? V :)

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Cool channel and cool singing by the way. I always appreciate musicians attempts at making the world a better place to live. Much love and peace V :)

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 And the moon landings were real. Elvis is definitely dead and Jews do not control the media. The Beach Boys were a cool band. Peace V :)

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 - Hi John...I haven't made my mind up yet. But the evidence out there seems overwhelming. And whilst I understand that you are being patriotic, which is very admirable, you can't argue with facts. There are lots of very unbiased documentaries on youtube, all I would say is have an open mind. Really enjoyed your singing by the way. David

  • Where did this awful chessy music come from ?

  • Nuclear Man is a Bully to Superman he is very destructively intimidating

  • did anyone even like part 4?

  • Ok..part 4 was retarded..if the villain was made from the sun and superman gets his power from the sun..everytime he hit superman he should have made supes stronger.

  • man I love this song whts it called?

  • The thing is: Wait to get pwned and digged on the ground BEFORE correct the position of the flag. Hahahahahha

  • Um that was a waist of time..

  • HAAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL AT 2:40

  • For a guy who can push planets off their orbits, fly through the Sun, walk in the fiery core of the Earth lifting collapsing continents to place and survive nuclear blasts, Superman goes down a bit too easy.

  • wow not an alternate ending quit posting shit cuss all u do is waist ppls time and piss em off.

  • This music is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Dandaniels1978 The music awful in my opinion

  • There taking two long for the newest Superman, they need to get that kid out and put a 35 year old superman

  • alternate ending? this is the american release, i own all the movies.

  • I really hated that part at 2:20 .Its nerve racking for some reason.

  • WTF??? the usa flag is on the ground so everything is fine? even if someone kicks his ass??? LOOOL

  • whats the musci pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • this is ecstacy of gold from the soundtrack of "The Good, he Bad, and The Ugly".

  • @racking1112 Written by Ennio Morricone from the western made in 1966, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

  • This really isn't an alternate ending...

This is an actual scene halfway through the movie...

  • Yea, but Super's always gets his ass kicked...runs off for a week, then comes back to destroy em all..He's like the weak kid who got beat up in school, then 10 yrs later, hes a cop, and hides behind his badge..right?

  • @MotorCityPlayer

    so not .....!

  • Last time I checked, Superman has heat vision, freeze breath, and super speed; on top of the fact that he's incredibly strong, and yet the filmmakers actually let Supes get beat up by a crummy made up villian. If Supes beat Zod, Non and Ursa, he shoulda moped the floor with this clown!

  • It's interesting that Superman was never meant to fly in the original comics, just leap tall buildings.

  • @Coltfighter He has those powers on Earth. This was not on Earth !

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 He has those powers when he's absorbing radiation from a yellow sun. If anything he should be even more powerful on the moon.

  • @Coltfighter well if u feel that way, do a search on the original nuclear man...

  • @Coltfighter Superman had to trick them into loosing their powers before he could do anything. Technically, he out-smarted them not out muscled.

  • @Coltfighter

but rememeber he was a carbon copy, with exception of weakness to dark.

  • @Coltfighter concur!

  • @Coltfighter you make a good point but remember that he was a copy of superman its almost like superman versing bizzaro except bizzarp didnt have the power ofsolar light

  • @Coltfighter The clown was essentially a clone of superman

  • @Coltfighter Not to mention superman gets his power from the sun so shouldnt he have gained power from nuclearman who was born of the sun????

  • funny shit man i like the YEAH!!!!!! part

  • this is way better then the super man now

  • what's the name of that euh song...

  • lol

  • I liked it cuz of the music you put on there. Sounds like something Quentin Tarantino would have done. YAY!

  • but could he spell?

  • @fullbeardyo rofl. Good one. This Superman was the only that I was old enough to see in the theatres. At the time I thought it was awesome, but then again I was like 7 years old.

  • Yeah the ending made no sense atall. It was such a silly movie.Throughout the whole film Superman had his ass kicked and got beat up by that otha guy evrytime.Superman is supost to be the most powerful and the makers of this film made it look like he cudnt fight!

  • hahaha thats hilarious! So let me get this right: Superman gets his ass kicked by Nuclearman and says "Fk it, I'm outta here!" LMAO!

  • The special effects were worse each time a new Superman film was released (except the last one). Nuclear Man is truely ridiculous but so funny!

  • Supermangets his power from the sun, those hadukens should be making him stronger or something.

  • 'hadukens' thats funny, i was reading think, "what the F is a Had Unken, or is it Ha Dunkens?? then all of a sudden Rhyu kicked me in the head and in my dazed state i realised what it was!! hehe

  • Since he's called nuclear man, those hadukens would be nuclear powered.

  • i love how superman looked worried and rolled out of the way when nuclear man tried 2 drop that boulder on him like it was gonna hurt him or somethin lol. i dont no. that part always makes me laugh.

  • What made me laugh is when nuclear man slams superman to the ground and superman almost loses consciousness, more lame than funny but still.

  • @BadulaJohnson lol yeah, then two seconds later he's bustin out of the dirt with a vengeance...

  • Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman were the only good things about this movie - an ignominious end to a franchise that had already reached the nadir with its atrocious previous instalment.

Reeve would have made a great James Bond too.

  • Best Superman story,

    getting rid of Nukes

  • LMAO.

You made an awful movie funny

  • Was there really a point to that? It sucked

  • But the music was great. Ennio Morricone is a musical mastermind.

  • this movie sucked SO hard ...

  • dont forget 3

  • Wonderfull!!!

  • lol

  • how can that be the end nucearman didnt die

  • Metallica fits better with wolverine hahaha

  • lol

  • LEAVE SUPERMAN ALONE!!!!

    I love him so much.

  • They ain't mocking Superman. Just this movie.

  • Aww that's an awful thought

  • Metallica uses this as their "entrance song", so to speak. It's played just before they start their first song.

  • Yeah it's from the Eastwood movie ''The Good The Bad and The Ugly''.

Though I just can't help thinking of the PS1 RPG-game Wild Arms :D

Somehow it really fits this slow-mo fight nice... well done!

  • the movie was great but i still cant understand the ending

  • What is the name of the music playing in the background

  • It's from one of the Sergio Leone "Dollars" movies with Clint Eastwood. A Fistful of Dollars, For a few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

  • It's the third one you mentioned.

  • it's the ecstasy of gold from the good the bad and the ugly

  • not the best superman film but ,much better than the worst superman returns!

  • yep...didnt think it was possible. Superman 4 was a bad movie but very entertaining. Superman Returns was just bad in every way and very boring and terribly made

  • how much can a weightless rock way anyway...lol

  • chris reeves was too old and out of shape for this one r.i.p, it was totle rubbish movie embarrasing

  • He was only 35 when he made this one. Old???? I wouldn't say he was out of shape either, just not as muscular as in Superman III.

  • @Phoenix863

he was still 34 when this was worked on, his birthday was sept of 1952, in reference to you saying reeve was 35 in superman iv. just saying.

  • worst.film.ever

Watched it today, I cant get over just how bad a film it is.

  • not bad. but i still preffer your "superman returns" deleted scene. which i favorited. ;)
