  • how much does one of these cost

  • So this is a 4 channel helicopter? Right

  • they look the same

  • Reflex is the best Air Hogs helicopter ever!

  • cool

  • Would the Reflex be a good beginer RC helicopter? If not what model would you recomend for a beginer?

  • Just got a Reflex at Toys-r-us for $30 (clearance).

  • dude the newer reflex looks way better

  • Reflex: Air Hogs first 3 channel.

Helix 360: Air Hogs first 4 channel!!!

  • Can you try to find the R.C. FalconJet 3D Flight Helicopter and make a video of it, just so I can learn a little better from the Master of R.C. Helicopters!!!

  • i so regret paying 65 dollars for this.

  • So do these have full control, or limited controls? I've never been able to find out, and the box doesn't say. I like how easy they look to fly, but if you can't go everywhere you want to go with it, I don't think I'd bother. Thanks for the vid!

  • mine got destroyed by my guitar case falling over on it only damaging the rear rotor so i was going to fix it until my dog decided to go in my room and dig in my garbage a=can and he ran out and stepped on it destroying it even more. It's like Final Destination or something

  • Good review. I especially like the ELVIRA stand-up display! :)

  • y in the box they rate it pro that thing is as easy as flying a 2 channel helicopter.

    i fly helicopters and i have 2

The Eflite blade cx2 and the Eflite blade

    cx3

  • nice, except its not pronounced 'hell-iks' its 'he-licks' . rhymes with re-flex.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow interesting, ummm i can't find it on the walmart website and in toysrus website the picture says helix so i watched this to see whats going on so im not sure according to the differences here the picture is of a helix so i hope i get the right one

  • This guy sounds like John Goodman LOL!

  • im gonna buy a helix today :;D

  • got a reflex yesterday great toy dont like the fact that they dont tell you how long to chare it for other than that great little heli it acctuly does what it says on the tin lol

  • my grand pa has one im wanting to get me one lol

  • awsome

  • i agree. the pakaging on the reflex is crazy. i bought one yesterday

  • but you would rather take some time to open it than get a broken reflex. =)

  • breakout tha glass cutter

  • how much do they cost both

  • well off i go to wall mart to get a reflex thanks man :)

  • Your welcome. Have fun.

  • I must say, you are the coolest old guy i've ever had the pleasure of watching. :')

  • Ditto, Mr. Herbert is one coooool dude.

  • @legoman243 haha, same!

  • can u also charge the reflex with a regular air hogs havoc controller

  • No sir.

  • wow man. I bought a "Helix" and after watching this its actually a reflex, i have the same reflex charger, cooling vent, blade changed, reflex controller etc but on the helicopter itself its named a helix and it came in a helix box.... Wow a reflex in helix desguise! My tailboom got shredded in a crash and ive made it back with eletrical tape (the end bit snapped) and i broke my blades.. any idea where to get replacement blades? Man I love heli's! 5* rate.

  • Thanks. Try Spinmaster(.)com for parts. Good luck.

  • is it worth it or should i buy something like the spark. or wait a while and buy a blu ray 450

  • if you havnt flown before i recommend the blade Mcx for $130 Rtf.

  • Good Point. Thanks.

  • Waiting wont make you a better pilot. See my 9 heli flying tips. Learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche. Sparks are hot rods and so are the blue rays, neither good to learn on. Hunters, Lamas Mcx's and other coaxials would be best to start with and also get a good simulator. Good luck.

  • NightFlyer, can u make a video on "how to make your own heli." oh and how could u modify a controler so it could stay still with out moving at all while in air? or would u need to change the circut board to do that?

  • Not these days with the great helis already available. No heli ever is stable, and why it is so hard for most to fly them. It would need multiple gyros and be quite expensive to handle autopilot status.

  • NightFlyyer,

can you please help me on my problem with the Reflex.

when i press full throtle the blade doesnt move, so i have to give it a push, and when i do give a push the blade starts spinning but it doesnt have enough power to lift of the ground.PLEASE help me,and thank you.

  • Motor has been overheated and brushes are worn out. Sorry, not much to do to fix it.

  • thank you very much for the info, it was very helpfull!!

i guess ill have to buy a new helix=[

  • BAD situation!!!

every Reflex eventually wears out the lipo battery and mine is now in the wearing out stage so i have to get a new one though mine is in great condition i rarely crashed.

  • Bummer. Both mine still work, though, and 2 years old.

  • wait, are you getting a new reflex or battery, and if the battery, how do you replace it?

  • The battery has to be un soldered from the RX after removing the body and needs very careful attention to detail to do that. The battery replacement, has to be the exact same weight..

  • were are you get that

  • WalMart

  • Ive got the newest helicopter by airhogs the havoc heli

  • theres an even newer one...havoc razor......

  • Havoc razors dont exist where i come from

  • havoc was 2 years ago.......

  • Where i lie haco helis are 3 months ever since they added the bee version thats just a havoc heli that looks like a bee but normal havoc helis are like 1 year

  • How long does the Reflex take to charge?

  • 20 minutes

  • you should show us a ll the planes and helicopters and machines in your house and garage

  • Well they are pretty much in all my videos. See my Ride of my life video. Thanks.

  • how is it that if i type in heli you always come up =p

  • Haha. It is quite an honor.

  • PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS

  • Its in the description and the video.

  • Hey Dave, you did inspire me into r/c flying, i first was in planes, but after flying a heli, i loved it better, and i picked this up today, and yes, i had some trouble opening, and yea, the adapter is built in them now, its very stable and easy to fly in smaller spaces, and its very good, might be getting a honey bee heli, how is it?

    Gadget Experts Founder- Marco

  • I like the Honeybees MK3 and CP2, but they are full tail rotored helis and quite a bit harder to fly, believe me. Have you read my 9 heli flying tips and rules of thumb?

Thanks for the kind comments. Dont give up now.

  • yea, i have tried it out last night, and yea it is a bit tough, but im getting the hang of it.

Its very good, and the tips are great, i used the screw for the transmitter in the reflex.

  • All right. Great.

  • one more thing, do you know where i can find some replacement blades for this heli?

  • Try Spinmaster(.)com

  • Thanks for the video but the music did make me a little nauseous.

  • I KNOW it is very hard to open it

  • LOL.

  • lol, yeah it took me ages the get it out the box.

  • Haha.

  • hmm on that my charges in 90 minutes

  • I like the old vids the best

  • mine didn't come with an adapter

  • The new ones now have the adapter built in the RX of the heli.

  • yeah i got a red one a week ago and it didnt come with an adapter!

  • Then you got a newer one yet, as the adapter is built into the heli now.

  • Nice Review!! I'm going to pick one of these up.

  • Thanks you. They are fun.

  • Hey night flyer i wonderd how long does it take to charge you reflex helicopter.

  • About 45 minutes.

  • It has like a push foreward then it hovers you need to tap it for foreward flight.

Flight time between 5 to 15 minutes

  • Does the reflex have a fast forward flight?

    How long is flight time?

  • There is not cyclic head steering so it does not do well in fast forward flight, giving you plenty of time to learn how to fly it. 8-10 minutes is what I get on mine.

  • New on you tube Ive been flying air hogs since iwas five and i have the Reflex heli the thing flies just like yours Dave Herbert. Has alot of precision flying

  • Thanks, and welcome.

  • man i can't steer the Reflex, it just goes up and down, and spins around....is it suppose to be like that?

  • They are difficute. Remember right stick is supposed to make the nose go right not the tail and the bad part is they have to be trimmed every time you shut them off. Sometimes it takes 25 pushes of the button. If really bad, take it back.

  • does it have up & down pitch?

  • No, it is done by raising or lowering speed of the motor instead.

  • the rear tails look different.

  • Mine is broken ....LOL.

  • oh lol

  • i have a orange reflex flies cool and stays nice and hovered i love this helicopter oh and nice comparison test.

  • i just got my reflex today still waiting for it to charge....i dunno why mines has a buch of clear tape on it and no adapter thingy in the middle of the charger... =D but it's my first RC helicopter so i'm very happy to have it.

  • I decided to get one today, gotta wait for the store to order them in, they ran out =(

Always wanted something RC that can fly, so this is gunna be my first flying toy :D

  • Hope you like it.

  • its a very good starter heli. just remember if you go from this to something like a e flight cp, or higher end helis, there is a steep learning curve compared to this model, or the e flight mcx

  • Nicely said. Thanks.

  • Newer versions got rid of the lipo balancer and built it into the main rx circuit board. Have fun.

  • np Dave

  • you are the nicest guy on youtube lol

  • You are very kind to say that. Thanks.

  • nice i got the reflex for christtmas i just made a vidoe check it out maybe well anyways peace (keep flying)

  • Thanks, I will.

  • r these helis strong enough to with stand a few crashes becuase my 10 year old cusin got the havoc and crashes it at 30 and it turns out fine but it has no real controle

  • Nothing this delicate can handle crashing. In fact real helicopters cant stand any kind of crashing either. It is best to have a teacher, thus not trying to learn and crash on your machine. Havocs have no real control anyway, as they are elevator helis with no way to steer them, only yaw. Best advise I give on these is to make sure to shut if off as soon as you see your going to crash or hit somthing. That will save it the most. Letting it run after crashing will ruin it.

  • Owned...

  • hmm i havent researched this at all, i am just a passerby, but the biggest difference could be what is inside the helicopter. there might be a different motor powering it. again, i dont know this and i havent checked, just sayin they could have improved it internally as well.

  • Motors are identical, but charging circuit inside heli has been changed to protect the battery on the newer ones than this. This video is a year old.

  • Can you control the helicopter making it go forward, backward and hovering without weights on it?

  • Very marginally, as those tiny fans are supposed to push it, but it doenst push it very fast.

  • I have a problem with this reflex helicopter... When I got it for Christmas, I charged it up. Then the next day, I went for a test flight, and the throttles ARE NOT RESPONDING CORRECTLY!!!! Any solutions? The rotors first spin, then stop, even on full throttle =(

  • If they stop, it usually means the battery is not fully charged. If it is, better return it.

  • Helicopter is fully charged. That's it I'm returning it =(.

  • Ha ha, I just got one for Christmas and I had a problem getting it open to. I have a problem flying it to. It just doesn't seem to want to fly in a straight line. It will move forward a few inches then the nose will turn tot he right or left.

  • Yep, they dont fly forward very well, because there is no rotor head steering. It takes lots of practice to over come all that and a spot of clay on the nose will help it move forward.

  • Yeah, know of any Tiny, cheap, realistic helis?

  • How tiny? The tiny MCx flies realistically and so does my CH 46 tandem rotored heli, but that one is not cheap.

  • cool, u can manover this very well

  • Hey, I've got a serious problem: I've just gotten my Air Hogs Reflex today (Christmas), and I have been charging it for well over an hour now. The red light is STILL flashing, and I've tried getting it to fly, but all it does is makes a buzzing/engine sound for a few seconds, then nothing happens. I made sure the power is OFF when I am charging, and I have tried different outlets, but it still won't finish charging, or even get the rotors spinnning. HELP?

  • Bummer. Sounds like you need to return it, as I do not know what it could be.

  • Yep. I returned it yesterday, and the new one works like a charm!!! Takes a little long to recharge, but everything else is brilliant! Best $60 I've (or my parents for me) ever spent! Your videos are great and Blue Thunder is an awesome movie!

  • Hooray! Thanks and good luck.

  • is this easy to fly, couldd i teach my 8 year old sister how to fly it or do u think it is too complicated?

  • If you know how to fly it, you can teach anyone, but if you do not know how to fly it yourself....well good luck. LOL.

  • Nice Music!!

  • badish thing is it that the helix uses so many motors!

  • Yep, 3.

  • really? only 3? i thought it uses 2 for the props to give it forward flight and 2 for the counter rotating rotor blades..

  • The Reflex only uses one motor for the props, as they are not variable in speed like on the bigger coaxials which varies the lower and uper rotor's speed to yaw. This heli yaws by running the 2 side motors.

  • ohhhh thanks :)

  • Have you ever flown the Reflex micro Pro? Is it as good as the regular Reflex? I found it for $41 and if it's as good I wanna get it for my son for Christmas. Help!

    Thanks.

  • I'm pretty sure that it is the same thing...I am not completely certain though!

  • It must be a different size as the Regular Reflex, I just want to know if it flies as well.

  • I don't know--I don't own either of them! I will be getting one for Christmas though. If you search "Reflex Micro Pro" here on YouTube, you'll see that they're pretty much the same, just slightly different names for the same product. I believe that the FULL name is Air Hogs Reflex Micro Pro Helicopter, but many people (and stores) just call it the Reflex.

  • I dont have one, but it is similar to the Reflex, which flies very nicely. The tiny side motors give some thrust to spin it an make it move, but not like regular cyclic head steering on bigger helis. For that price, I'm sure he will love it and you too.

  • I have a Havoc but want something more controllable. What's the best indoor heli in your opinion?

    Thanks.

  • MCX

  • Does it fly forward very well?

  • No.

  • does it fly well at all?

Is a good first but if you are a stupid beginner like some of us?

  • walgreens has a helicopter for 20 dollars and has served me well but it breaks easy

  • Mine flies well and this was the first versions from a year ago. It is fun for sure. And beginners can fly it easily. Just make sure to shut it off, before you crash.

  • Great video. I love RC Helis there the best!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • nice Elvira cutout

  • LOL. Thanks. Yep, I like her.

  • are these really good helicopters for my beginner son. thanks much appreciated!!!

  • These are basically elevator helicopters, so you cant get in trouble too much. IT is a good way to get involved. Just make sure to shut it off when you crash or look like your going to crash, and it will last a long time, as mine have.

  • very nice video

  • Thanks much.

  • thank you for making this video! This is coming from a mom who doesn't know what the heck my 7 yr. old is talking about. Because of you I will purchase the Reflex not the Helix! Thank you again!!

  • Haha. Thanks kindly. Good luck with it.

  • 3ch?

  • Up and down, is 1, Left and right yaw is 2, and forward and backwards, is 3.

  • hey i was wondering if you would know this but i saw a video of a guy flying a reflex, and near the end of the video when he got a shot of the back of the heli, i noticed a light shining. is that a warning that the battery is about to die?

  • Nope that is the power on light. It is on all the time when the switch is on.

  • Good review, but why do you have to have the crappy disco music in the background? What is next?......Saturday night fever?

  • Thanks. Come on, I like disco. It was still popular 2 years ago when I made this when I was only 59 years old.

  • Uh, can't think of anything cooler than disco for flight school. keep on truckin'.

  • im going to get the Reflex and the Storm Launcher these are sooooooo cool good review too! ^_^

  • Thanks kindly.

  • I'm thinking about getting the MCX.

  • how much does that cost?

  • They were $69 when I got mine, but the Blade MCX is much better and more controllable than this.

  • thanks

  • NightFlyyer, also on the bottom of the Reflex box it said something about not being able to replace the battery. Does that mean you can't use spare batteries with it?

  • Thanks kindly for your comments. I appreciate them.

    Dave (AKA Nightflyyer)

I blocked myself from replying to my own videos AS MYSELF, till You Tube Figures out what went wrong and how to fix it,

so I am answering as NightflyyersShadow.

    Get the MCX.

  • That is correct.

    Dave AKA Nightflyyer

  • NightFlyyer, what RC helicopter would you recommend for an adult beginner who doesn't want to get bored with it right away? I found a Reflex on clearance for $49. Or that MCX?

  • when did it come ouy reflex?????

  • Thanks kindly for your comments. I appreciate them. It came out almost 2 years ago.

  • i have a REFLEX it is orange the only diference from yours is the color and the trim color i cant ever trim it corectly it always spins just slightly or alt i will hold one directin and it just hovers then turns but the nurns the oter way again no crashes this also hapens with the micro misquito but not as bad i can still turn easly pleas help

  • No heli can be "parked". That is why most people cannot learn them. As battery runs down on reflex, and the motor heats up, trim changes. It is hard to control with the little motors. Try the MCX, see my latest video.

  • it took me half an hour to open mine i wanted to fly it so bad. :)

  • Heh, I just bought this out of curiousity and I am very impressed with it so far, ive crashed it 20 times so far at 20 feet on concrete without ANY damage but maybe thats because I know how to minimize damage with crash control ;)

  • yah i spent 65 dollars for my havic and my gay friend crashed it broke it and refused to replace it so i am buying a reflex
