Not as an individual, because acquiring them directly would be theft. But, as a member of a society which does have a prior and pre-existing claim to a share of the wealth it provides the infrastructure and order required to generate, you do. one reason i left america was most of my professional accounting career life and life before my family could not afford health insurance. Those who don't support a not for profit health care system for all should stay in american and die like the 12 year old boy who didn't have health insurance with a tooth-ache and the dentists said "not now". The tooth became infected and the infection spread to his brain and murdered him. This happens to 10s of thousands of americans every year, not in Cuba.

I kinda do. I think people thought he was going to put forward a plan for single-payer. Instead, it sounds to me like he just wants to FORCE people to buy from the HMOs, or be fined. If people had the money, doesn't he think they'd have insurance by now? It's like fining people for being poor, or fining sheep for not lining up for the wolves. I don't support his plan either.

Not as an individual, because acquiring them directly would be theft. But, as a member of a society which does have a prior and pre-existing claim to a share of the wealth it provides the infrastructure and order required to generate, you do. Those who don't support a not for profit health care system for all should stay in american and die like the 12 year old boy who didn't have health insurance with a tooth-ache and the dentists said "not now". The tooth became infected and the infection spread to his brain and murdered him. This happens to 10s of thousands of americans every year, not in Cuba.

Once the state is responsible for taking care of your health, your health becomes a state issue. If you don't take care of your body, the state must pay more.
Universal healthcare is all about the "people" versus "individuals" - it's a system for the good of the society and paid for by the collective.
You can't allow for individual liberty in that kind of system - it defeats the very foundation. Oh sure, nobody will make a profit. We'll all be dirt poor (well, not the party leaders)

Everyone fails to see that we are already in debt as it is, and in 10 years, all social security and whatnot is going to be non-existent! WAKE UP! The government can't pay for everyone, and why should everyone else pay taxes for the dumbasses that refuse to get a good education! Their a literally millions of dollars of scholarships that are wasted every year, so don't go saying that it's too expensive! people just need to get up off their lazy butts and make a better life for THEMSELVES!

pt.2 ...Universal healthcare is the worst. In Norway, they have universal healthcare and it is one of the most expensive places to live. A glass of wine costs $16, gas is $9 a gallon, and the tax on a new car doubles the car's cost. France's universal healthcare has caused them so much debt that they are in danger of not meeting the requirements to carry the euro. In Canada, 37% of their annual GDP is gov't revenue b/c of Univ. healthcare, and the maternity ward has a 10 month wait.

A state health system is a cornerstone of civilised society. Spain has state health care, and prices are half those in England, which is in the process of privatising the NHS. The reason the $dollar is falling is that OPEC are hiking the price of oil.

The oil myth doesn't fly. The dollar is falling because we're printing so many of them. If supply goes up, demand (or value) goes down. Oil is a contributing factor to our debt, but state health care is socialistic, that's why they call it socialized medicine. "The cornerstone of every civilized society"? I guess that's why I'm a conservative. 'Cause I think the founding fathers had it right from the beginning. With this much debt, do you want to pay the gov't one quarter of your salary?

Not all your tax goes on state health care; it pays the police, maintains roads, pays the fire service, supports the city infrastructure. Yeah, tax sucks, but it's not nearly so simple an issue as "All tax is Communist". Most of your taxes go to pay for the military.

Well, if it is endorsed my Micheal Moore, it MUST be good. I'm uninsured and I want to keep it that way. I pay for my healthcare in cash, and guess what? It costs me far less than if I had private insurance or had an additonal 20% of my income taken by the government for forced socialized healthcare. Oh, and with all the money I've saved by taking financial responsibility for my own healthcare, I've funded my retirement 15 years ahead of schedule. So, Obama and Hillary can both kiss my ass.

Deathnote, you should bother to LEARN at least a little bit about something before you try to wax eloquent. Get a clue: you are ALREADY paying for the healthcare of the poor and for FOR PROFIT healthcare and for premiums, and for a ton of LAWSUITS and LAWYERS and INSURANCE SALESPEOPLE who wouldn't be needed under universal. Bottom line: your cost would be LESS, not more. You can count up your taxes, but you seem unable to count what you are ALREADY paying to lots of places lots of ways. Read up!
