  • Music like this always brings me back to around 1979 1980s NYC in the hot summer growing up.....

  • 娘さんデブラ・ロウズがナイスに歌う、父ヒューバート・ロウズのクラヴティック・ジャズ・ソウルの傑作~FAMILY~永遠のフルーティスト~UAも歌ったネ #jazzm

  • family this is so brilliant such great memories thankyou hubert laws debra laws and mr all time funk and soul guy robbie vincent and you tube for the posting!junysawrusxxxxxx

  • Oh! I LOVE this song.......and the singer!

  • Outstanding and a great classic 5*s

  • Puts me in mind of "Street Life" by the Crusaders and "All Night Long" by the Mary Jane Girls all in its own unique package.

Hubert Laws has always been one of music's best kept secrets.

    Debra's vocals are awesome.

  • Smooth and enchanting. They just don't make music of this quality anymore.....

  • please upload oh what a night off this album the bassline on that song is tight

  • @awsullyful I second that "What A Night! is my personal fave track on the album. Please upoad!

  • This is one of my all time favorites. I have the album.....got it new......a classic that should be re-issued....or re-done...but by who?????

  • Thank you. up.

  • dedicated to all the soul family on you tube :-}

  • Lovely to hear this again Jazzy :)

  • The Maestro.French Charlie.....Bliss.

  • I had this song in my head for a few days, just the melody and it was driving me and my friends mad cause no one could remember the words or the artist, just the melody. It is a beautiful piece of music! Thanks Mr Laws!!

  • Please Upload "Bolero" off of this Album. Thanks.

  • Love this.

  • Elouise Laws

  • My 15 year old son (who loves gansta rap) has started listening to my music, it's quickly taking hold of him, that makes me so happy. I started my record collection in 1976 (but stopped buying in '86) I'll leave it to him when I'm gone..... so he can get the " Family" and " Every Generation" hooked on it..... ( apart from Hubert,Ronnie and Debra, wasn't there another sister?)

  • For the real Soul Family, top tune jazzymam 63. Still have a tshirt with the album cover on it from Terry The Mad Haters stall at Caister :-)

  • Love it!

  • MY INSPIRATION!!!!!!! Hubert Laws!!!

  • Top shelf tune here!!! True artists for sure..this tune is so underated its not funny.. i can still feel those great moments as a kid growing up in n.y. family cookouts.. kids playing in the streets.. we did not have wii... ipods... pcs.... computers were not mentioned during this era of music/life & life was so simple held more substance & people of color were so much closer. Miss that era of music so much... music is a reflection of current times. Awesome tune!!!!

  • @port2344chester Spoken all too well my brother!!!!!real talk man just real talk!!!!!!

  • @ryanismym.... much respect brother... thanks for the love fellow NEW YORKER... happy too see that you are enjoying this awesome tune. One love..peace...joy!!!!!

  • This was so smooth when it came out, and it brought a new group of young-heads toward the jazz aspect of the music scene.

We don't get enough real music today, and it's breaking our culture down.

  • dope

  • Excellent. Thank you Jazzy!

  • 5 stars!!!!!

  • Nearly 30 years after it was released, "Family" remains one of my top ten all time favorite songs.

  • What a powerful message vocalised by Debra Laws. It's made all the more listenable by the echo by the Hubert Laws flute break in the middle. A great song x

  • this is music for the soul of man and the heart of woman.

  • YES YES!!

I taped this song from a radio mix show on Kiss FM London and the dj got so into the music that he was banging his hands on the desk and made the record jump part of the track! I never knew what it was called but now I do and I can hear all of it! Great song and nice message too

    Respect

    James

  • Wonderful song and album!! It is a crime that it isn't available on CD.

  • Love me some Debra Laws. Such a rare voice...powerful, yet angelic sweet. I'd LOVE to see her in concert.

  • The beginning of this song is sampled in a drum and bass song, desperately seeking the title.

  • I remember this album so well. My favorite cut though was from Ravel's Bolero.

  • Man Debra Laws is so fine!!! Then her voice was the cherry on the top. and i'm 28

  • This is the best we will ever get.

  • This song is definitely what I would call a lost classic.

  • Love the posts of Herbert Laws Timeless Cassics....Please If possible lookin for a cut titled What a Night...Could you post this one please? Thanks...

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! THANK YOU!
