Rushed home, opened it up,volume flank, bedroom took flight, caught mom listening at the stairs, late Feb. 72.Just a15 year old discovering an epic moment in music history.
It is such a joke that bands like Kansas, Jethro Tull for heaven's sake, Todd Rundgren and this -- YES -- were not at the top of the so called Rock n Roll Hall of Shame, is telling. It tells me idiots are making the decisions. Totally unpredictable and nonsensicle. But, that's music. I know Ian Anderson and Jon Anderson don't give a crap. Love live them each.
Saw them in The Round at the Spectrum in Philly, and at least three more times on a traditional stage setting in the 1970s and early 80s. Steve Howe has Gibson 175 guitars named after him -- Signature guitars -- and for a reason. Chris Squire and Steve are the only two original members still playing as Yes. They are not the band they once were but this is an incredible incredible band. Live was just a masterful experience of drama, early pre-MTV video experience of the highest order.
Listening to this vinyl at home, so lovely. Look up what I'm listening to post on social sites. I cannot let the perfect music of the world go to waste on a girl; only inside. The youth of today need to know what excellent music sounds like. My 33 year old son said"Rock is Dead," Mom. It's never dead, unless it's the DEAD! (GRATEFUL)! I used to play this album (vinyl) over and over and over again. Close to 40 years ago. Yikes!!! That almost makes me feel "old". Of course we all know that there is no such thing as "age" or "old". I am always young in my mind and that's all that counts. At least, that is my belief.

@mdelair420. Geddy is a master, no doubt. Singing, playing keyboard chords by foot and playing bass at the same time. Now, I believe Neal Peart is the greatest living rock drummer. It is all about taste though. To a point, at least. Yes, happy 2012!
@lbbs4cowboys1 Thanks, happy 2012 to you. Sorry, but I don´t agree with you. You said it is all about taste. Search here on youtube for Barriemore Barlow, if you don´t know he is the drummer of Jethro Tull. I hate compare two great musicians. I think Barriemore Barlow and Neil Pearl are both great.

When this came out I owned 2 albums, both Glen Campbell :) . My brother gave me this album for my birthday. He is no longer with us, but I still have the album. thanks Bobby. BTW, I did not hear the "do look around" montage with the footsteps running way at the end of the album. Headphones are a must. Still one of my favorite albums. First one I played for my kids.... I did not play the Glen Campbell for them ;)
I never heard a song by Yes before. I clicked on this randomly cuz it was a related video to Led Zeppelin's 1st album. I gotta say, the bass guitar on this first song is pretty legit.
@jjkmovies You are in for an absolute treat. I discovered Yes way back in high school some 30+ years ago and their music was considered "old" back then. Their music is genius, and was way ahead of their time when they hit the music scene in the late 1960s. They were the first to really incorporate the (new back then) synthesizer sounds, and their use of frequent key change and time signature changes was also something they essentially pioneered in rock music. Enjoy!

Fragile and Close to the Edge are the best albums from Yes, by far! Wakeman is absolutely sick in this album, from the organ solo in the final part of Roundabout, to the piano parts in the middle of South Side of the Sky that absolutely give you chills. Howe's guitar on Mood for a Day is fantastic, and the band knocks it home with force for Heart of the Sunrise. Love, love, love this album!

Awesome, 'possum! I remember listening to this album when it was released and liking it very much but not being able to say why. Some 4 decades later with a better(?) vocabulary (and a head clear of "recreational pharmaceuticals", thank you, Jesus!) StaticBunnyStudios, I commend you on your taste and perception. Keep up the good work!

@JMarchOHare Emersan and Wakeman are totally different keyboard players.
My main instrument its the bass and then I play keys and guitar but started on drums and then got into mandolin and computers and composition etc.
The argument of who is better and not is a futile argument because there is no real better one when it comes to style (when it comes to the greats).
You could argue this when it comes to the greats compares to the amateurs though. lol
