I don't believe Obama is making policy for himself and based solely on his own beliefs of course. But i do believe he must own his policies because he has the power to sign them into law and not CEO's. He also has the power to fight against and expose the corruption in our government today regardless of the consequences, if he so chooses. He isn't the solution to our problems, and we can't rely on one man to do it all, but he does have the power to walk out and make one hell of a speech.
You know its either black or white or else we cannot make up or minds. Those who pick grey are all cowards...I guess there is a bit a truth in it, but I think it also takes some courage pick grey, bcause everyone will "see through you" and call you a coward.
The founders who gave the finger to a King and his taxing private Bank of England thought the same:
"That government is best which governs least." and so created a government by of and for the people...which managed to keep out of foreign entanglements and prosper (caveat included) until about 1913...massive war, massive corp colonialism...and mass hypnosis.
THERE WILL BE AS MUCH TYRANNY BY THE GOVERNMENT AS THE PEOPLE WILL ALLOW
step up and believe in something..liberals are pro big govt and have intrusive POLICIES that rob personal choice..the liberal likes to BLAME the rich and big corporations ..which works well for idiots, since MOST of us are NOT rich anyway its easy to get on board with that lie.that plays well with the uneducated dependent voter..makers vote REPUBLICAN,,takers vote democrat.when was the last time a POOR guy hired you? quit blaming the rich ,,
@wogdoggy. what intrusive policies hat rob personal freedom? you mean like the patriot act? like illegal wiretapping? like imprisoning americans without trial?
@lygophile like healthcare..like cap and trade like banking reform name one liberal policy that ISNT INTUSIVE..every one steals your CHOICES ..tax and cap= higher ebnergy costs under the guise of man made climate change..BWHAHAHA,,you'd have to be a moron to believe that.healthcare? prices going down ? keep your old healthcare? lol.sure UNTIL your EMPLOYER DROPS YOU..liberal policies are all freedom robbers and tax increasers..stop the cradle to grave entitlements VOTE REPUBLICAN.kick a liberal
@wogdoggy. ok besides writing completely incoherent, you're not making any sense. health care costs should decrease when adopting public health because each and every other western nation has public health care and each and every one of them have much lower health costs.
@lygophile wow,,who taught you BRAINS?..the more people you add the higher the costs,,the more cut backs the less for R and D ,,no r and d and you have a stagnant system..NO PROFIT POTENTIAL no r and D ,,funny but liberals refuse to acknowledge the system WORKS because of profits..take profits out and you have canada..what new medical breakthroughs come from countries with socialized medicine other than israel..israel works because of its small size and fabulous doctors and research..next
@wogdoggy. holy mother of saturn. you the most propoganda indoctrinated fucking retard i ever met. Israel is making medical breakthroughs now? yeah. socialised medical care is downright evil, except when we're talking israel. yeah.
all nations are evil, horrible and suck except for america and their fuckbody isreal. yeah, right.
and israel is an average sized country by western standarts, so that argument is complete and utter bullshit.
@lygophile israel works cause israel is small..educate yourself..why do the ELITE from canada flock to the u.s. for healthcare? fuckbody israel?..lol..ahhhhh says alot about you twit..PROFITS DRIVE ECONOMIES MORON..without profits there is no reason to invest, without investment there is no research and devolpment, with research no now discoveries are made,,then you have canada cuba and britains healthcare system..do you get it now mr simpleton?? you truly are a dope
@wogdoggy. investments can be made in many ways. it does not require "for profit". in fact democratic funding can be much more efficient as people want whats good for people while big bussiness wants what's good for big bussiness. and since healthcare is for people, not for big bussiness..
also some parts of health care can be retained "for profit".
and israel is not that small. norway, denmark, finland, iceland, signapore, luxembourg etc are much smaller. so yes, that argument is bullshit
@lygophile yes it does require a for profit otherwise you only get LIMITED capital..believe it or not wealth and greed drives ALL ECONOMIES not just capitalism..search milton friedman.phil donahue,,wake up...
and the only freedom liberals want to limit is the freedom to dominate others. just like we have laws prohibiting the freedom to take what belongs to others or to commit violence to others whenever we please, so should we have laws prohibiting the exploitation of the market for public loss and personal gain.
it is entirely clear that private health care is detrimental to society. to try to contradict that is simply sticking your head in the sand.
@lygophile you mean like the 3.8 percent home sales tax thats included in the HEALTH CARE BILL? that one? LOL..please save your crap.this healthcare bill isnt about healthcare and keeping costs down its a "TAX " bill designed to punish the achievers and redistribute their wealth under the guise of health care..the next scam we can bring up is tax and cap..how higher energy costs will keep you home and in active while costing everyomne thousand more a year for energy? do you have anything good?
@wogdoggy. yeah, because "achievers", which in this age refers to bankers, managers and speculators (this is completely non-inherent and in other times in history architects, sculpturers or even carpenters were way richer; it's just the way economic society has been constructed) are being punnished for the economic havoc they created with handing eachother bonusses from corporate wallets by the government bailing them out with tax money, yeah.
@lygophile did they ALREADY LEGALIZE WEED in your state? achievers are anyone who makes a living that is tired of getting taxed to death so some lazy as bastard can sit at home and collect food stamps and cell phones..if you work and you are not on giveaways how can you vote democrat..if you have a job and pay taxes why would anyone want more taxes to pay for the clueless? these people arent HELPLESS THEY ARE CLUELESS like you..so why should achievers pay?
@wogdoggy. im not an american, so i don't live in a state. besides, rich people sit at home and collect the peoples money too you know. you really think advertisers and speculaters, stock brokers etc are doing society a favor? only their existence necessitates their function.
and youre not making any sense with your dribble. i can't argue against nonsense.
@lygophile oh rich people dont work now,,thats beautiful...stock brokers = bad bankers = bad..its people like you who BURDEN the system,,its losers like YOU who want to justify what others do to earn,,,you are so typical of the indoctrinated liberal..PUBLIC SCHOOL? i'd bet it all....LOL
@lygophile no mention of the 3.8 percent per 100k on existing home sales in the healthcare bill? nah thats not a freddom robber..how bout penalties for NOT carrying health care ..oh thats not a freedom robber..how bout you get off the weed kid and wake the fuck up? hmmmm?
all political parties should be illegal, they do nothing but commercialize politics and allow for laundering of money etc etc, watch the documentary an unreasonable man
yes a 'preposterous' strawman argument that holds no water. nobody argues it's just one or the other, it's a spectrum. there's a centre point that delineates between the two but gradations exist on either side. silly video typical of the shallow thought of proteanview
The government keeps us safe. I mean both political partys are full of it, but its important that america votes for the side that acttually uses their brains. I believe in evolution and I believe the republicans are going backwards. I wouldnt be surprsied if glenn beck started throwing his feces at his next rally. Mid term elections coming up! vote democrat this november, republicans cannot win the house!!! we WILL BE DOOMED
I didnt hear the republicans say a god d*mn f8cking thing when George W was pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into that iraqi shithole. Most republicans likely wont read this tho, the minute they see a black guy they press the X. I hate republicans.
I think as long as you have no more lobbyists, and public funding of campaigns, or have the campaigns be a series of programs explaining each candidate's policies.
I also have a way to get us out of debt... Tax the religious institutions. Let's face it if just 2 of these mega-churches payed their fair share, we would have a lot of extra money rolling in to pay for universal health care, the military, or just to give to people who want it (like me). I'm going to get a lot of hate for this idea.
@williamskidfears That is very optimistic of you... but also naive. First off it will take more than a desire, but more importantly, humans categorize. That is just the way our minds work.
Let's face it, people are going to act in their own self interest. This, as seen during the Bush and Obama administrations leads to a scam based economy. The perpetrators of these scams are rarely if ever held accountable. They end up just keeping the money that they earned through trickery and playing on the gullibility of people. (Con't)
I'm pretty sure that the dichotomy nature of politics has been around a lot longer than the past 10 years. I disagree with you about government being superfluous, I think that they should dial back on certain things (weed, prostitution, gamboling), and actually put back into place and enforce certain regulations they have had (banking regulations). The problem with the economy in the US right now is that we've had about 30 to 40 years of rampant deregulation. (con't)
"That way, we get to become surgeons and pull bullets out of your homies."
Aha! Irrefutable proof that Zionists are harvesting bullets from the bodies of defenceless goyim!
Perhaps I should make a video called "The video Jewish surgeons don't want you to see!!" - I'll get thousands of views and have endless swathes of morons subscribing to my channel within a few days.
Obviously. The fact that you apparently couldn't detect the (frankly obvious) satire in my comment demonstrates that you've proved the validity of your own comment - well done!
I have an insatiable appetite for irony, but you've come close to satisfying it.
True. Here in the Netherlands parties identify as red (socialist), blue (conservative), green (environmentally conscious), purple (central) and as left and right while orange is still open to the nationalists and monarchists. It's just the USA that has this de facto semi-democratic two party system.
@democratsdid911 2 sides of the same coin. we live in a fascist country controlled by corporate elite. they hav bought and paid almost all of congress on both sides.
Most Conservatives tend to think of government as the problem
and most Liberals tend to think of government as the solution.
This holds true even if you are a Republican or a Libertarian or an Independent or whatever you want to call yourself.
But we never get small government because of all of the damn socialist liberal progressives in all parties and in all the world sticking together like assholes.
I don't agree that government is supposed to be superfluous. That's seems like the other extreme swing of the pendulum from where they are now, which is overly-involved, corrupt, and inept. There are some things that we should expect from our government, but that's minimal compared to what they claim responsibility for today. It's a shame too, because we're beyond the point where citizens have a say in what goes on at the federal level. that aspect of our citizenry has been taken from us.
Your absolutely correct. Iv'e always been a conservative when it comes to politics, but I don't believe in any god, and also disagree with a few other things they believe. I disagree with most of what the liberal party believes but they do have some stuff more correct than the right. Like you say, unless you just don't think about it, you really can't just have everyone classified as one or the other.
It's nice to see someone who refuses to take a side. I'm the same way whether it be politics or religion. I have my own beliefs and views and refuse to lump myself with one group. I don't believe in everything the same way as someone else does whether it be religious or some matter of managing or country. Some things are strait forward but don't try to suck me in to the black and white on the things that aren't.
I hope the other people who voted this down did it for the same reason I did. There is an in-between. Assuming that everybody believes that there is none is just as conceited and close-minded as saying there is no in-between. Also, look up the political spectrum. You'll see that there is actually more than just "conservative" and "liberal".
Those of you who claim to be "independent" DO fall somewhere on that spectrum. If you don't, you have no political ideologies at all.
I would say run for congress but you're way to smart and honest. Well that was a bad idea. The nerve of this guy thinking this. They are birds of a feather all of them.
I wish people would unplug the telezion and plug into proteanview.
I register as "decline to state" because I find useful views from both "sides" regarding various issues. I'm for fiscal conservatism, social liberalism, lawful gun ownership and personal responsibility in the use of recreational drugs. What the hell am I? I don't care for labels and my political views are subject to change based on my experiences.
Well, I guess it's how the human mind works... mutually exclusive categories are easy to think with. For most people it's always either one or the other.
It annoys me every time when someone complains that I "don't get to the point" in my videos because I don't draw oversimplified black & white pictures. For instance, they think you're either FOR or AGAINST Muslims. That both sides in the "West vs Islam" affair can be criticized, and that both sides are diverse is apparently hard to understand.
Excellent video, straight down to the point. I'm always baffled by how blindly so many people follow the oppositional categories of liberal and conservative. The dichotomy has become so central that few people even consider the possibility of something in between, or even of discarding them entirely.
Rand Paul is getting it from both sides. O'reilly small sniped him by hitting on his abortion stance and his iran nuclear opinion, Maddow painted him a racist for his disagreement with one part of the civil rights act. Libertarians have no chance!
There is a gigantic lack of critical thinking and creativity. We all need to wake up and realize that the world is presented to us in a certain way. Solutions do not come from governments. Solutions to real problems come from individuals who are willing to role up their sleeves and get something accomplished. Who can blame them? As humans we learn by trying to imitate our environment. I believe a paradigm shift will occur if the individual works to become self sufficient.
Why do the Obama followers always refer to people of the world???
NEWSFLASH - Obama is only the leader of the U.S. You think the rest of the world gives a damn what he tells um to do???? The only people that are going to suffer the change is U.S
Well stated you did a great job explaining that. Me personally I'm a constitutionalist which also is pro small government state rights and lower spending.
Have you ever noticed that the Republican/Democrat structure is a discriminatory paradigm that teaches its supporters how to discriminate against the opposing ideology by using name calling and defamtion? This is called eugenics my friends, and it teaches group discrimination!
You're absolutely right. I can't even begin to imagine how many times I've been in the middle of a debate with someone and all of a sudden I'm a liberal!
@Paddis92 As a Libertarian I am called a Liberal by Republicantards and Conservative by Democratards. All the while in most studies the majority of Americans are conservative on fiscal issues and liberal on social issues which is solidly a Libertarian position. Yet when people test out as Libertarian cognitive dissonance takes over. They fell invested in the lie the majority parties tell every election.
lol, when i am asked i let them know that i am PROUD to be... NEITHER! lol In the end, Neither of them even matter, in a way its just a way to split the people into groups, and once people acknowledge they are in a separate group from another person, they feel threatened and feel they need to attack or fight... and in the end people are too worried about defending themselves to actually get anything important done. that's what i think about stupid liberals or conservative.
Well, the main dichotomy exists where human rights come from. The only two main camps is rights coming inherently within the individual or rights come from the government. All political views stem from one of those two ideological camps.
It's crazy and sad, that the way the world works. People are grouped together with the titles. It can't be helped.
As far as government, I ask, "What happened?" The founding fathers wanted this nation to have a "people's government". But what happened to the people's power or the idea of the people's government? Remember that there is power in numbers. People need to get together and confront our politicians.
The problem isn't between liberals and conservatives. It is believing that the Democrats stands for the rank and file liberal and the Republicans stand for rank and file conservatives.
George Bush was clearly a liberal but because he was a Republican the Democrat party demonized him as a "ultra" conservative. There was nothing in Bush's policy, with the exception of a modest tax cut, that was conservative.
If you support individual liberty, the rule of law, our founding fathers, unalienable rights and the Constitution you are typically a conservative or a libertarian.
Liberals, especially Obama liberals, are Marxists. If you 100% support Obama's policies, you are a Marxist.
Those of us, whoever we are, who love liberty have no room for Marxists in this country. Either you learn that freedom is more important than life or you find yourself some socialist utopia and move there.
You are so brainwashed. Did you read your own comment before posting it? You just said that since we love liberty we will not allow others to have certain political ideas. You are the problem with American politics today. Your kind declare yourselves to be Constitutionalists and lovers of freedom then you say anyone who disagrees is un-American and should leave the country.
By the way I myself hold mostly libertarian views and hate socialism before you start calling me a commie or marxist...
I am even more troubled by your comment because I am a libertarian. I think it is un-American to start legislating opinion. I think it is un-American to call people un-American. Freedom is what we love. It means that you may have to hear some people say stupid things but you will always have the right to give your own opinion and to ignore those people and live your life how you see fit if you cannot agree with them. To take someone else's rights first you have to give up your own.
My goodness. You really flew off the handle. Did you see anywhere in my comments where I propose we legislate anything againts un-American behavior?
I was making a strong suggestion. If you are the libertarian you say you are, why would you want anyone in this country who is working feverishly to take your liberty away. I know they have a right to espouse tryanny of any sort but I don't want them to legislate it. Wouldn't those people be happier living in a socialist country?
Maybe I flew of the handle a little bit but I though you were overboard calling people you don't even know Marxist.
To your point, I am ok with people of different views living here for two reasons. One I believe that the principles set forth by the founding fathers are true and if explained properly show themselves to be superior to other forms of government. Second, I believe in freedom and I don't feel it is beneficial or honest to assume that others don't deserve the same rights I consider-
-to be unalienable even if they don't value them themselves. Besides, democracy and freedom, when lost from within are usually given up in the pretext of protecting them. Today Americans have given up many of their rights for the sake of security. But the world keeps getting more dangerous and we keep being asked to give up more rights until we end up with an Obama following a Bush who act as if they don't even recognize the constitution as supreme law.
When some conservatives invoke the constitution and the founding fathers in the name of things that are not constitutional or not in the spirit of what the founding fathers intended it cheapens what it means to be conservative and it ends up meaning that your a pro-gun,pro-life, christian fundamentalist and liberal (in its original meaning is much more appealing and far less socialist) becomes for gay marriage and socialism. It is hard to argue your way out of that mess. It is too confusing.
I think you'll find that we agree far more than we disagree. I agree with you on most everything you said.
My contention is that we now have Marxists in the White House and in Congress who are making policy. And Democrats who don't realize this are continuing to vote for them solely because they are Democrats.
Just like people voted for Bush just because he was Republican.
The labels Democrat and Republican mean anything anymore.
Lol, I consider myself to be somewhat of a Marxist and I can assure you that you people in the US have nothing remotely close to a marxist in your goverment right now. The most rightwing politicians in Europe are closer to being a communist than liberals in the US.
And pls stop talking about marxist as if we're trying to destroy civilization and rob you of your possessions... It's simply a matter of choosing justness over liberty.(which doesn't mean we're against it)
Apparently you have not studied Marxism. Private ownership is not part of the system. Even in Socialism, which Marx was trying to "improve" on, does not allow private ownership.
If this nation became any form of a collectivist state you be taking my private possessions because everything would be owned by the state.
There is NO "justness" in collectivism and who ever sold you that line of crap should be horse whipped. Justness only comes from the individual NEVER the state.
Uh..? Maybe you should try reading marxist authors who havn't been dead for 140 years. I get into this discussion alot with other people who're still clinging on to 19th century ideas.
Also, with private property, Marx didn't mean the individual incomes of laborers, he meant the means of production. Marxism isn't just a political movement, its a way of looking at society as an economic struggle between different groups of interest.
Well you're right about me not reading anything about the new Marxists. But you still haven't gotten passed private ownership of the means of production. I cannot own a business without state intrusion into that business. And why is it assumed that every business is owned by the rich.
Also there is no "justness" in taking the labors of one and giving to another. Do you consider a thief who breaks into your house and steals your TV to only be exercising "justness"? What makes it any different if the state does the exact same thing?
in a society there's inequality. libertarians generaly believe society to be a meritocracy, however there are enough studies that show that inequality is inheritable. People are not rewarded on the basis of merit. Socialists don't beieve you can achieve a free society if there no equal start in life. You need to have something which redistributes a portion of the wealth if you want to fight inequality. Europe's had this system for decades, you're not thinking we're all marxists here do you?
And what is wrong with a meritocracy. It is the natural order of life. Some people are more motivated to achieve than others. Why should those who are not motivated be given the rewards of those who are successful?
I don't care what kind of a pretty bow you tie around collectivism, it is shared misery. Governments cannot and never will achieve complete equality of wealth. To do so always kills production and innovation. That is why no other nation has ever achieved what our nation has.
I dont have anything against meritocracy, Im just saying its an illusion. If you read as much studies as I have about poverty youll know that the chances of you making something out of yourself when youve got downtrodden parents is very small. You cant live in a meritocray if you dont get an eqaul start in life. I have nothing against people earning more money if they work harder, Im just saying its not a reality. Maybe youre the one tying bows here by denying some of the harsh social realities.
There are several factors that have crept into our society to make a meritocracy harder to achieve. They all stem from gov't collusion with business or Corporatism. When a business lobbies congress for legislation that would in effect eliminate or reduce their competition then you do not have an equal chance. On that I agree with you.
But the solution is not a massive central gov't it is a return to an extremely limited gov't where once again ALL businesses have to work on an equal footing.
That is the only way a meritocracy will provide an equality of chance to all individuals.
One of the great motivators to succeed is failure. People must fail to succeed.
The problem is that with all the safety nets we've placed in society, the fear of failure keeps people from even trying. Why should they have to when gov't will take care of them.
Equality of chance works best when gov't is small and limited.
I belive you wrong, because I'm from a poor family and doing poorly but thats because I have just begun my life as an adult in the last few years however my parents were poor and are poor because of debts they chose to take on, they had seven kids we all started poor and because we had that bitter taste in our mouths we persued something that would wash it out my eldest brother is an anastesiologist my second eldest is a car dealer my sister a jewler none of my siblings are any longer poverse
No other nation has risen more people out of poverty than our nation. It is capitalism that did this. It did it by giving people equal opportunity to achieve success. It is equality of opportunity, not results, that drives innovation.
That is why the world has fled to this country to escape all of the "equal" and "just" collectivist societies.
Youre right of course, capitalism has improved our lives in ways our ancestors could only imagine. But maybe you should try looking at relative poverty instead of absolute poverty. No sane marxist today belives in equality of results but in equality of chances. Equal opportunity is not enough, you also needs equal chances. You dont have to believe in absolute equality to believe in social initiatives that redistribute a portion of the wealth to aid the weaker memebers of society.
We have had wealth redistribution since Johnson's Great Society. It hasn't worked. Poverty levels (and I am talking about US poverty because our poor all have TV's) have remained at the same percentage ever since the 60's and we have spend trillions to end it.
The problem is not a lack of money or education that makes people poor. It is a lack of motivation. People can go from poverty to wealth without either money or education.
Motivation, not chance, is what separates the rich from the poor. It has always been that way.
Marxist ignore human behavior. That is exactly the reason why whenever Marxism has been implemented it had to control human behavior.
That is why when you spend trillions on the poor you just make them comfortable in their poverty.
The struggle for shelter, clothing and food with the equal opportunity are excellent motivators. It may seem cruel to you but that is how you make millionaires.
Just like Liberal and Conservative mean the exact opposite to us as it meant to our founding fathers. Our founders were liberals but our current liberals are the people our founders fought against.
Bush was a Republican but was he really a conservative in the principles of limited gov't? Obama is a Democrat but is for the "little people" (a condecending phase that irritates me because we are a nation of equals)?
I believe first and foremost any political idea must begin with the question, "is this going to perserve the freedom of the individual?" Is it going to promote life, liberty and private property ownership so that the individual is free to pursue his or her own happiness.
If the answer to that question is no, then you have no right to make policy in this country. Those people and those who knowingly vote for that type of policy will and have destroyed our freedom. I have no use for them.
Your right that we agree more than we disagree. But I believe that people vote against their own interest because they have been lied to and they do not understand the real issues. Most Americans know nothing of the constitution. In school we are taught about George Washington and we are taught dates and order of presidents and that Ben Franklin flew a kite and went to France but we aren't taught what these men believed and what was really the point of the revolution.
I agree 100% about that. I think that is part of the progressives plan. Not only do they teach the less important facts about our founders but in the last few decades they have been painting them in a bad light. Calling them misogynists and slave owners. And saying their ideas are outdated and times have changed.
This destructive non-sense is what is causing the demise of our liberties. This is how you get people to turn away from the principles of good government and accept tyranny.
and the same partisan liberal/conservative mentality is what will keep people from looking into independant, new ideas. its sad because when any new people get into politics they automatically go demo/repub. and basically "work" for that party and adopt all of the party's values. if we want true change, it has to start with the way he look at everything.
But the liberal/conservative dichotomy makes everything so simple! Once you've got the idea down pat you can save a lot of time that would be otherwise wasted thinking about issues.
For example without a massive pre-programmed conservative thinking block, climate change denial would never have got off the ground. Here's a case where the politics allows you to form an opinion without having to waste time trying to understand the science.
The left/right paradigm is a system created by the controllers of wealth and resources aka a small group of international banking families to divide the population against itself so that it may be easily controlled and manipulated against its own self interest.
but its easy to put people in boxes and i think perfectly natural that if someone doesnt share your point of view they are opposed to you, i have learnt this by commenting alot on youtube over the years sometimes you see atheists get branded as fundies by other atheists and liberals branded as conservatives by other liberals it just happens when you're too quick to pull the trigger.
But yeah theres alot of different leftists and rightwingers around with different viewpoints, Great video!
Protean, I noticed that in modern day USA, society is getting increasingly polarized and people with shallow political views are quick to label you as eithe rliberal or conservative without having even heard all your views and beliefs. One phrase pretty much sums it up for them. That is becoming more and more commonplace in America
I think you can divide people up into 2 different categories. Though I don't think the 2 categories are liberal/conservative....i think both of those fall into the same category.
The 2 real categories are collectivists vs capitalists.
Unfortunetly almost all americans have collectivist tendencies.
It's the classic battle of Thomas Jefferson vs. Alexander Hamilton, unfortunately for us Hamilton won very decidedly in America as you can see in our history since 1810
If you're not liberal or conservative, what are you? How does one determine whether they are more of one than another? Is there an equation to figure out what side you're on?
like comedian chris rock said, you first have to hear the ISSUE. As he described himself (in a comedic way) he was very liberal on prostitution nad very conservative on gun control
has anyone ever read a rude comment on youtube and wished you could put your hand through your computer screen grab the author by there hair and bash there head into the key board repeatedly ? great vid by the way
It really doesn't matter what you think because it's just an opinion. Where does it say on your birth certificate if your a liberal or a conservitive. This is just nonsense, I'm a human being thats all, i don't need to be put into a group as you need to. Listen to nigeltheukhammer it couldn't have been said better.
and im not conservitive and im definetley not a fuckin liberal than wat am i faggot wat wat wat am i do u no because if the bull shit your saying is true wat am i hu HU FAGGOT
I needed this to debrief from Bob. Altho I think he's funny, we disagree on some things, the left-right thing being one of them. I hear ya, Protean, I get shafted from the self-conscious left and right all the time. The oil money flows down both sides of the trench.
the inbetween is called an independent :)

wogdoggy 1 year ago
@wogdoggy. ok besides writing completely incoherent, you're not making any sense. health care costs should decrease when adopting public health because each and every other western nation has public health care and each and every one of them have much lower health costs.

@lygophile israel works cause israel is small..educate yourself..why do the ELITE from canada flock to the u.s. for healthcare? fuckbody israel?..lol..ahhhhh says alot about you twit..PROFITS DRIVE ECONOMIES MORON..without profits there is no reason to invest, without investment there is no research and devolpment, with research no now discoveries are made,,then you have canada cuba and britains healthcare system..do you get it now mr simpleton?? you truly are a dope
wogdoggy 1 year ago
@wogdoggy. investments can be made in many ways. it does not require "for profit". in fact democratic funding can be much more efficient as people want whats good for people while big bussiness wants what's good for big bussiness. and since healthcare is for people, not for big bussiness..
also some parts of health care can be retained "for profit".
and israel is not that small. norway, denmark, finland, iceland, signapore, luxembourg etc are much smaller. so yes, that argument is bullshit

and the only freedom liberals want to limit is the freedom to dominate others. just like we have laws prohibiting the freedom to take what belongs to others or to commit violence to others whenever we please, so should we have laws prohibiting the exploitation of the market for public loss and personal gain.
it is entirely clear that private health care is detrimental to society. to try to contradict that is simply sticking your head in the sand.

@lygophile you mean like the 3.8 percent home sales tax thats included in the HEALTH CARE BILL? that one? LOL..please save your crap.this healthcare bill isnt about healthcare and keeping costs down its a "TAX " bill designed to punish the achievers and redistribute their wealth under the guise of health care..the next scam we can bring up is tax and cap..how higher energy costs will keep you home and in active while costing everyomne thousand more a year for energy? do you have anything good?
wogdoggy 1 year ago
@wogdoggy. yeah, because "achievers", which in this age refers to bankers, managers and speculators (this is completely non-inherent and in other times in history architects, sculpturers or even carpenters were way richer; it's just the way economic society has been constructed) are being punnished for the economic havoc they created with handing eachother bonusses from corporate wallets by the government bailing them out with tax money, yeah.
you're bullshitting yourself, dude.

People are naturally tribal. It just so happens that our government only has two tribes to choose from.
And just like watching a football game, people get excited and/or angry depending on whether or not their team is winning.
The thing that I hate to see in all of this is when people identify themselves by their team, at the expense of the entire league.
Watching Fox News jeering and laughing when we didn't get the Olympics for example... how insane was that? Patriots, my ass.

(con't)

SkallagrimNilsson 1 year ago
Excellent video, straight down to the point. I'm always baffled by how blindly so many people follow the oppositional categories of liberal and conservative.

But I guess I'm just a hypocrite.
SuperMasterEdge 2 years ago
The problem isn't between liberals and conservatives. It is believing that the Democrats stands for the rank and file liberal and the Republicans stand for rank and file conservatives.
George Bush was clearly a liberal but because he was a Republican the Democrat party demonized him as a "ultra" conservative. There was nothing in Bush's policy, with the exception of a modest tax cut, that was conservative.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
If you support individual liberty, the rule of law, our founding fathers, unalienable rights and the Constitution you are typically a conservative or a libertarian.
Liberals, especially Obama liberals, are Marxists. If you 100% support Obama's policies, you are a Marxist.
Those of us, whoever we are, who love liberty have no room for Marxists in this country. Either you learn that freedom is more important than life or you find yourself some socialist utopia and move there.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
You are so brainwashed. Did you read your own comment before posting it? You just said that since we love liberty we will not allow others to have certain political ideas. You are the problem with American politics today. Your kind declare yourselves to be Constitutionalists and lovers of freedom then you say anyone who disagrees is un-American and should leave the country.
By the way I myself hold mostly libertarian views and hate socialism before you start calling me a commie or marxist...
esteban0321 2 years ago
I am even more troubled by your comment because I am a libertarian. I think it is un-American to start legislating opinion. I think it is un-American to call people un-American. Freedom is what we love. It means that you may have to hear some people say stupid things but you will always have the right to give your own opinion and to ignore those people and live your life how you see fit if you cannot agree with them. To take someone else's rights first you have to give up your own.
esteban0321 2 years ago
My goodness. You really flew off the handle. Did you see anywhere in my comments where I propose we legislate anything againts un-American behavior?
I was making a strong suggestion. If you are the libertarian you say you are, why would you want anyone in this country who is working feverishly to take your liberty away. I know they have a right to espouse tryanny of any sort but I don't want them to legislate it. Wouldn't those people be happier living in a socialist country?
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Maybe I flew of the handle a little bit but I though you were overboard calling people you don't even know Marxist.
To your point, I am ok with people of different views living here for two reasons. One I believe that the principles set forth by the founding fathers are true and if explained properly show themselves to be superior to other forms of government. Second, I believe in freedom and I don't feel it is beneficial or honest to assume that others don't deserve the same rights I consider-
esteban0321 2 years ago
-to be unalienable even if they don't value them themselves. Besides, democracy and freedom, when lost from within are usually given up in the pretext of protecting them. Today Americans have given up many of their rights for the sake of security. But the world keeps getting more dangerous and we keep being asked to give up more rights until we end up with an Obama following a Bush who act as if they don't even recognize the constitution as supreme law.
esteban0321 2 years ago
When some conservatives invoke the constitution and the founding fathers in the name of things that are not constitutional or not in the spirit of what the founding fathers intended it cheapens what it means to be conservative and it ends up meaning that your a pro-gun,pro-life, christian fundamentalist and liberal (in its original meaning is much more appealing and far less socialist) becomes for gay marriage and socialism. It is hard to argue your way out of that mess. It is too confusing.
esteban0321 2 years ago
I think you'll find that we agree far more than we disagree. I agree with you on most everything you said.
My contention is that we now have Marxists in the White House and in Congress who are making policy. And Democrats who don't realize this are continuing to vote for them solely because they are Democrats.
Just like people voted for Bush just because he was Republican.
The labels Democrat and Republican mean anything anymore.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
@AlbaGoBragh
It's simply a matter of choosing justness over liberty.(which doesn't mean we're against it)
Embler9 2 years ago
Embler
Apparently you have not studied Marxism. Private ownership is not part of the system. Even in Socialism, which Marx was trying to "improve" on, does not allow private ownership.
If this nation became any form of a collectivist state you be taking my private possessions because everything would be owned by the state.
There is NO "justness" in collectivism and who ever sold you that line of crap should be horse whipped. Justness only comes from the individual NEVER the state.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
@AlbaGoBragh
Embler9 2 years ago
Well you're right about me not reading anything about the new Marxists. But you still haven't gotten passed private ownership of the means of production. I cannot own a business without state intrusion into that business. And why is it assumed that every business is owned by the rich.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Also there is no "justness" in taking the labors of one and giving to another. Do you consider a thief who breaks into your house and steals your TV to only be exercising "justness"? What makes it any different if the state does the exact same thing?
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
in a society there's inequality. libertarians generaly believe society to be a meritocracy, however there are enough studies that show that inequality is inheritable.

Embler9 2 years ago
There are several factors that have crept into our society to make a meritocracy harder to achieve. They all stem from gov't collusion with business or Corporatism. When a business lobbies congress for legislation that would in effect eliminate or reduce their competition then you do not have an equal chance. On that I agree with you.
But the solution is not a massive central gov't it is a return to an extremely limited gov't where once again ALL businesses have to work on an equal footing.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago

Government cannot achieve equality of results.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Youre right of course, capitalism has improved our lives in ways our ancestors could only imagine. But maybe you should try looking at relative poverty instead of absolute poverty. No sane marxist today belives in equality of results but in equality of chances. Equal opportunity is not enough, you also needs equal chances. You dont have to believe in absolute equality to believe in social initiatives that redistribute a portion of the wealth to aid the weaker memebers of society.
Embler9 2 years ago
We have had wealth redistribution since Johnson's Great Society. It hasn't worked. Poverty levels (and I am talking about US poverty because our poor all have TV's) have remained at the same percentage ever since the 60's and we have spend trillions to end it.
The problem is not a lack of money or education that makes people poor. It is a lack of motivation. People can go from poverty to wealth without either money or education.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago

AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
I believe first and foremost any political idea must begin with the question, "is this going to perserve the freedom of the individual?" Is it going to promote life, liberty and private property ownership so that the individual is free to pursue his or her own happiness.
If the answer to that question is no, then you have no right to make policy in this country. Those people and those who knowingly vote for that type of policy will and have destroyed our freedom. I have no use for them.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Your right that we agree more than we disagree. But I believe that people vote against their own interest because they have been lied to and they do not understand the real issues. Most Americans know nothing of the constitution. In school we are taught about George Washington and we are taught dates and order of presidents and that Ben Franklin flew a kite and went to France but we aren't taught what these men believed and what was really the point of the revolution.
esteban0321 2 years ago
I agree 100% about that. I think that is part of the progressives plan. Not only do they teach the less important facts about our founders but in the last few decades they have been painting them in a bad light. Calling them misogynists and slave owners. And saying their ideas are outdated and times have changed.
This destructive non-sense is what is causing the demise of our liberties. This is how you get people to turn away from the principles of good government and accept tyranny.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
and the same partisan liberal/conservative mentality is what will keep people from looking into independant, new ideas. its sad because when any new people get into politics they automatically go demo/repub. and basically "work" for that party and adopt all of the party's values. if we want true change, it has to start with the way he look at everything.
CharlieL225 2 years ago
But the liberal/conservative dichotomy makes everything so simple! Once you've got the idea down pat you can save a lot of time that would be otherwise wasted thinking about issues.
For example without a massive pre-programmed conservative thinking block, climate change denial would never have got off the ground. Here's a case where the politics allows you to form an opinion without having to waste time trying to understand the science.

The problem is not government, it's people. Human beings can not be governed. This should be self evident, as no government conceived has worked.

That is becoming more and more commonplace in America
shitonMOHAMMAD 2 years ago
@shitonMOHAMMAD
Alexander Hamilton, unfortunately for us Hamilton won very decidedly in America as you can see in our history since 1810

very well said! So accurate, it pretty much sums up the history of the world!

wow, I was expecting some backlash from trying to group everyone into 2 categories. I smell a friend invite coming your way.

If you're not liberal or conservative, what are you? How does one determine whether they are more of one than another? Is there an equation to figure out what side you're on?
meloveanna 2 years ago
like comedian chris rock said, you first have to hear the ISSUE. As he described himself (in a comedic way) he was very liberal on prostitution nad very conservative on gun control

I needed this to debrief from Bob. Altho I think he's funny, we disagree on some things, the left-right thing being one of them. I hear ya, Protean, I get shafted from the self-conscious left and right all the time. The oil money flows down both sides of the trench.
