it is bad to run trains on carpet but if your gifted at taking them apart and cleaning them then it isnt no pronlem,,,my ebay user name is Lionelrepairmaster and have purchased and repaired over 200 Lionel O guage in the last 4 years,,I love these little HO scale trains also as well as th tiny little n gauge,,,merry christmas,,Rick

I hate to tell everyone but this is a 1980's set, how to tell is by a couple of things, 1 the power pack is black, all 60's and 70's sets had gold power packs, 2 a couple of the freight cars are 80's, the gondola is a clemintine, the cattle car is a larrime, 3 the color of the alco is not the same silver that was used in the 70's back of the santa fe warbonnet, These loco was no longer made by Tyco at this time, they was made by another company and tyco put them in there sets..

@LoneSniperSG - I had one in like 86-87 looks the same.! I dont think its that old tyco was around till mid-97 1990s and they still made many of there sets.

I had a couple of those Alco Century 630s. They were very good. The set itself looks to be from about 1970-71.

LOL the fact that you ran it on the carpet would be reason NOT to buy it.. Most model RR manufacturers warn about this in the first pages of the owners manual.. Those little chinese motors do not like carpet fibers very much = early death.
