If you ever get to Beamish open air museum near Chester le Street, Durham you are in for a real treat... there is a sweetshop and you can but the 'old' sweets....
The sweet shop in this show is how shops should still be - warm, inviting, unique. Instead of shopping centres 3 stories high, lets go back to a cobbled-street mall with individual shops along the footpaths.
@TeamKilday I completely agree with you there! Although I've grown up in the city, I can really appreciate small Mom & Pop businesses instead of the massive stop & shops and cvs' down every corner. People can't afford everything they put up around us. Makes me feel like a kid that lives next to Disney World but can never go in.~M*

bit of trivia -- this was Catherine Cookson's personal favourite out of the adaptations of her novels.

As the title credits rolled at the end there was a lovely song, but I didn't see who sang it. Does anyone know who it was?

All those sweet jars were so pretty. Shops
dont have any character like that these
days. We dont press our noses onto the
windows of supermarkets and dream about the luscious things like in an old
sweetshop

@munichlady I couldn't agree more. Nothing is special anymore - it's all mass-produced.
