I used to teach. It is shocking. Students don't study and parents don't help. You can't fail more than 2-3 students despite their poor performance, so you grade on curves. Kids get passed along without learning. When you do find a scholar in your class it's enough to bring tears of joy. Americans are stupid, not just ignorant. I know lots of people with almost no problem solving skills. But, I also know a lot of these same people who are clever, they know how to cheat and lie and get by.

I used to teach. It is shocking. Students don't study and parents don't help. You can't fail more than 2-3 students despite their poor performance, so you grade on curves. Kids get passed along without learning. When you do find a scholar in your class it's enough to bring tears of joy. Americans are stupid, not just ignorant. I know lots of people with almost no problem solving skills. But, I also know a lot of these same people who are clever, they know how to cheat and lie and get by.

The Jenkins group did that study and that is where I think he pulled it from. There are other stats from other groups that confirm a similar suspicion.

I love it when people think that calling America a stupid country is like calling Obama a racist.
It is quite clear that Obama is not a racist and that Glenn Beck is a moron. It is also quite obvious that based on our politics and based on our lack of an effective education system, we are a dumb country and have been for a long time (a few decades ago we elected Reagan and more recently Bush Jr and in the future maybe Palin?!?).
Just because you don't like something doesn't make it untrue.
