for some reason i'm finding getting the timing right on HP cancelled to Fireball FADC to HP very difficult.. as well as Fireball FADC to standing HK.. these seem to be the most important links for akuma as they really allow his combos to evolve to the next level, do you have any comments/advice on these in particular?
so much wasted meter. and why nothing to show the timing on the sweep after the short tatsu? :/ most people would rather see that... meh old video dont know why im posting here.
@BUDDAz1g If they are crouching and blocking, your best bet is to frame trap them and end it with a fireball to be safe. If you hit a crouching opponent with anything but a c.fp they will remain crouched, so what you do is OS c.lk, c.lp, c.mp, fireball, FADC from fireball hit confirm, c.fp (to stand them up) then BnB from there.
Hey, first off, great video, thanks so much for making it. It was super-helpful!
Question - In Arcade Edition, do you know if it's still possible to connect Far Roundhouse to low jab? I can't seem to do it anymore in AE, but in Super at my friend's place I have no problems.

One question: do you need any special feature or condition on your PC to make the madcatz fightstick work ? I haven, bought one yet , but I´m planning to get one as capcom is going to make the Arcade Edition for PC, and wanted to make sure it´s going to work well...
for the standard tatsu to shorkyuken i can never get the 2 to link and i cant figure out why. i know i am putting in the inputs correctly because i can do that seperately consistently. Like i will tatsu and when i enter in the shoryuken nothing happens...
learning akuma has been one of the most difficult things i have done in gaming... with akuma you always have to be on point because if you make 1 or 2 mistakes you are going to get dizzied im going to stick with him as long as i can but i dont know how many more bad loses i can take with him.. but in the right hands he has by far and away the best offense on the game
6 dislikes? What is up with you haters?! How can you dislike something so helpful? Do you still suck even after watching a video like this that practically spoon feeds you combo execution? Did giving it a dislike make you feel better about how much you suck?
I'm trying to learn akuma but it seems like you have to have really good defense to play him seeing as he takes so much damage. I can get all his BnBs down but if i get caught with a combo it seems like im always on the losing side of health.
shaku after jab shoryu hits 3 times, with fierce shouryo max twice can get down to just 1 hit if you add tatsu into your combo. so if you wanna cancel shoryou ando do shaku, make jab shoryou
how do u connect combos cause i like try to and it dont work im a newb so help! X3 like do u wait for the attack to finish or cross over, and how do u know when to do it? this combo system for the game is just really confusing for me... x.x
wait only the axe kick with fierce can be cancelled not the double roundhouse or the low fierce, my bad lol but the fierce punch can be cancelled just not in the air
im getting better at combos even though im using a dpad, i can hit the bnb a lot more consistently without mashing and i can do some basic fadc combos like cancelling out of the f srk into a red fireball or a second srk. i didnt know u can cancel out of a fiere punch or fierce kick thought was just hadokens, srks and focus attacks. Im trying out your combos right now. how much easier are they with the arcade stick compared to the d pad?
@Septimius More damage. the HP SRK damage is divided over three hits, and since each hit in a combo scales the damage, the 1 hit of the LP SRK does more overall damage, and scales the combo less. It also allows the 3-hit HP Shaku to connect. If you did the HP Shaku after the third hit of an HP SRK the fireball would only hit one time due to juggle properties.
Awesome combos! Erm...what do I do to get that dark blue with silver hair Akuma? I mean which button to press in order to get that colour, and no,I don't have a console and I played it in the arcade :D
Wassup dude. Love all your vids. Akuma has always been my favorite character next to Ken. I'm having a hard time landing the HP Shaku after LP SRK FADC. It always comes out too late to hit. I figure this is an important combo to get down. Any adivce on the timing?
hi i have just been testing what we spoke about and you are right,a tatsu can follow a shaku midscreen but only if they are both ex,probably a waste of meter i suppose.one last question if you have time,no one seems to let all 3 hits of akumas dp connect before cancelling,i have not studied the damage scaling but surely it increases the damage with the extra 2 meaty hits, you still get 2 hits from the following shaku when all 3 dp hits connect? thanks
no that's what i was trying to say you don't have to be in the corner ,i assumed you would have to be but it can be done midscreen if you do the ex tatsu just at the right time,i learnt it from watching a match,if i can find it i will send you a link,i can't test at the moment but i'm pretty sure that's right,i'll write back after my next session
@neontetra1000 Normal Shaku recovers too slow to be able to do it midscreen. By the time you can do EX Tatsu they're too far away and are pretty much on the ground. EX Shaku recovers like a jab fireball, allowing you to ex tatsu before they hit the ground, sucking them back in. I'd love to be proven wrong though, although even if you could, that combo doesn't do nearly enough damage in Super to make it worth it.
@lordofultima im still learning akuma and the fightstick itself now but you do a great job of making akuma look like a badass in this video.. one question how long did it take you to fully adapt to the fightstick? i feel like a beginner with my fightstick

hey dude nice vids, keep it up! i learnt something new the other day,it is possible after a b+b combo ending with fadc shakanetsu to hit the opponent immediatly after the shaku with an ex tatsu,i don't believe i have seen this in your vids,is it something you use? thanks.
quick question for somme reason i cant combo crouching short x3 to tatsu i have tried slowing down and speeding up i and just cant do it consistently any tips
I must comment, your video skills and editing are awesome, you actually teach the combos , i ain't an akuma player but all i have to say man thanks amazing video :)
Very informative. I'm honestly impressed. Most combo videos are just showcasing the skills of the uploader. This one actually teaches. I don't suppose you'd be wiling to do this for other chars? I see you have quite the focus on Akuma given the nature of your other videos.
hey my friend was wondering if you can do these akuma combos on a controller...not a arcade stick.. i think u can... but i dont play with akuma. so i wanna know ur take on that.
if i had a recording device thing, or wuteva tha hell u need, i would show u.. i play all my characters wit a 360 controller. . . and i main rog.. sekond main izz akuma.. hehehe. and no im not lying.
OK so i got my TE stick and a few of these combos are coming out nice, but, does it matter if i cancel the HP dragon punch into HP red fireball, because for some reason i can't do it from LP.....has it got something to do with combo scaling?
@LiftEatSleep If you can't do it from LP SRK I wouldn't recommend doing it at all, due to juggle properties and damage scaling, you aren't going to get but a sliver of damage more.
You can only get so many hits on your opponent once they've left the ground, so you want the LP SRK since it does the most damage in one hit, and it will allow the shaku to hit 3 times instead of 1 (like after an HP SRK).
@lordofultima Thanks for that man. I'll just have to practice it from LP SRK, again, this video is awesome, actually, love all your videos they've really helped me in developing a strong Akuma.
What are your thoughts on his new Tasmanian Devil ultra and supposed nerf for SSFIV?
I heard about the removal of the loop, no more walking Sagat from one side of the screen to the other :(
Yeah my thoughts are the same when it comes to the second Ultra.
Personally I think Akuma in SF4 is damn near perfect, a comb-able Ultra would have been a bonus (or even better, a health boost!.....or is that wishful thinking.....health boost would be awesome lol)
@jamheald yeah 1 frame links can be tough, akuma's close stand jab to sweep, fireball fadc standing roundhouse, and roundhouse loop are all 1-frame links.
@ZankuuHadouken If you're pulling it off the traditional way (F, D, DF + PUNCH) Then I suggest after the forward input, you make a mental note to release the stick momentarily so it can return to neutral. It happens very fast of course but minute adjustments like this can help a lot.
Yeah, I missed the loop ^^ I wanted to say some more bout the demon shit, but I saw you made some vids bout it. Still, gave you 5 * rating for the editing and usefull BnB's...
Yes it's worth it. Because of juggle count if you do a hp srk cancelled on the third one of the fireball hits will miss if you do this after a lk tatsu 2 will mis, without a tasu the most damaging fadc fireball is using the mp srk. I would think 3 lps is for ease of use and the fact they can be chained into a true block string if blocked or you can easily link (without moving your finger) the third for a cancel. Hope this helps answers your question.
Saw your work I have to say it is the greatest Akuma Guide ever. I am having lots of problems with the LP SK FADC to HP Shaku. :|
I have problems with Haduken and the uppercut.. they dont come out as I want them to.. moving to a fightstick from a fightpad.. still having issues adapting .... any exercise tips?
wow, this video is amazing. i saw some of those jap pro gamers pull out these combos in every akuma game, I'm gonna do more exercise. i'm kinda new to this game, are you using that madcatz lower end product with stick and buttons moded??
Hey nice vid man, Got a qeustion too. I mostly play with friends and lately my friend is taking guile. The point is he is kinda ubeatable at the moment. He turtles like no tomorow and gets me if i want to make a move. Any ideas on how to counter him?
@skom555 Turtle. Akuma has all the tools to be just as, if not more annoying a turtle character than Guile. Be patient and react to his sonic booms, wait until you can identify what type of sonic boom he's throwing so he can't sneak in damage with EX sonic boom or catch you jumping early with an LP sonic boom. You can win the fireball war with sporadic red fireballs, and jump forward relatively safely with the shelter EX air fireball provides.
Just a question, I have a PS3 (with pad) and i can pull off some moves, but it gets too hard when it comes to FADC etc, then when I play at the arcade, I can't do the combos i've mastered on pad coz its too different, should I just buy a joystick and go from there?
actually gouken can be just as strong and for less meter j.hp hp xx ex dp dash in hk tatsu does over 400 but his normals are pathetic in comparison to Akuma's so is his anti-air.
I have one question for anyone that might know... is there ANY difference (frames or something?) in doing a standing light dp-> FADC, and doing the light tatsu-> light dp ->FADC? when I practice, I can do dp->fadc->shaku with like 99% consistency, then when I throw in the tatsu, it drops to like 50% on 1p side, like 2% 2p side! it's crazy... the problem is always the FADC, it always gets stuck doing the full FA and doesn't dash out. Does the timing change somehow with the tatsu??
NO difference, it's all in your mind. You are completely focused on the FADC at hand when doing it clean off a standing SRK, when you throw in the other bits of the combo you jumble the FADC when the time comes.
That or you mash LP DP which will mess up your FADC's royally. So don't do that if that's what you do.
well, thanks that's good to know... It seems crazy though- i'm definitely not mashing the dp, it's clean, and I practice the dp->fadc till it's like muscle memory, I don't feel like my hands are panicking or anything like that. I feel like I'm focusing on any part of the combo (until i fuck it up a bunch of times, haha). But i'll do the dp/fadc like 20 times perfect, throw in the tatsu, it screws up every time, then go back without it and it's consistent again... really annoying...
Wow...the best video tutorial I've seen for Akuma. Some of the combos I thought it couldn't be done. Would be very hard to pull some of it off in a tournament when everything is so fast.
Awesome vid, really appreciate you doing this for the Akuma community. A quick question: you mentioned to lxoquendo that you "can" do the combos without plinking. You have awesome consistency though (that FADC marathon!) so wondering if on for example LK(c), LP(c), MP(c) / MK(c) you always plink the MP/MK or if you've just got the timing to a T... Thanks!
Well I don't generally plink combos unless it's the roundhouse loop. jab jab strong shouldn't be hard at all, that's his number one hit-confirm in my opinion.
i have a question i do main gouki and i was watching a sfiv tourney where there mentioned plinking and double tapping to make combos work how exactally do u do that?
thanks for the quick reply i figured you wouldnt be awake its pretty late where im at does double tapping help you get the timing of the combos better?
Nice, none of that 2 fadc into so many links of jabs and shorts that they become almost meaningless due to damage scaling. Good vid.
I got a question for you though, I recently made the transition from 3rd strike, in which I also played akuma. The main difference I feel is the timing on the links, would you equate it to being like timing the inputs like parrying in 3rd strike? Or is there a difference in timing depending on the combo and I would have to just feel it out for each one?
While the timing can sometimes be similar to parrying from 3rd Strike, every link combo for the most part in the game has slightly different timing (which is annoying and prevents me from being good with other characters).
Just have to get the feel for the combos that you use and stick to it I guess, I'd liken links to a metronome. Every link has a specific tempo (like a song), it's up to you to stay on rhythm.
I always time the LP SRK, since it will fuck up the FADC if you mash. Just work on timing, you'll likely have to hit it slightly later than you would the HP SRK.
If only you know how much I did... I had this game since launch.... my practice sessions are at least 6 hours..no improvement i think street fighter need gifts you need to be born with to be good
I was awful at this game and all fighting games, only by putting in the time will you get any better, play to get experience, practice execution, study match-ups, get to know the SF community and talk to them about strategy. You don't have the right min
awesome video.

OK so i got my TE stick and a few of these combos are coming out nice, but, does it matter if i cancel the HP dragon punch into HP red fireball, because for some reason i can't do it from LP.....has it got something to do with combo scaling?
LiftEatSleep 2 years ago
@LiftEatSleep If you can't do it from LP SRK I wouldn't recommend doing it at all, due to juggle properties and damage scaling, you aren't going to get but a sliver of damage more.
You can only get so many hits on your opponent once they've left the ground, so you want the LP SRK since it does the most damage in one hit, and it will allow the shaku to hit 3 times instead of 1 (like after an HP SRK).
lordofultima 2 years ago
@lordofultima Thanks for that man. I'll just have to practice it from LP SRK, again, this video is awesome, actually, love all your videos they've really helped me in developing a strong Akuma.
What are your thoughts on his new Tasmanian Devil ultra and supposed nerf for SSFIV?
LiftEatSleep 2 years ago
@LiftEatSleep The roundhouse has like one extra start-up frame, it's a bit upsetting but it won't change too much, just no loop.
As for Ultra II, it can go to hell if I can't combo into it. I just wanted an ultra that was combo-able, otherwise it's sort of useless.
lordofultima 2 years ago
@lordofultima
LiftEatSleep 2 years ago
@lordofultima cl.HP xx Teleport xx Ultra II
SheltonShenanigans 1 year ago
Oh it is nice to have a bit more leisurely fadcing after playing cammy with the spike ultra and the one frame drill fadc links.
jamheald 2 years ago
@jamheald yeah 1 frame links can be tough, akuma's close stand jab to sweep, fireball fadc standing roundhouse, and roundhouse loop are all 1-frame links.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Right I'm gonna go get those down now.
jamheald 2 years ago
i feel stupid asking this. i just started training with a stick any tips on pulling off dps consistently or is it just i need more practice
ZankuuHadouken 2 years ago
Just practice it takes alot of time to get used to a stick.
Check out his sticj tutorial maybe it´ll help you
prax0r 2 years ago
@prax0r thanks i will try that to
ZankuuHadouken 2 years ago
@ZankuuHadouken If you're pulling it off the traditional way (F, D, DF + PUNCH) Then I suggest after the forward input, you make a mental note to release the stick momentarily so it can return to neutral. It happens very fast of course but minute adjustments like this can help a lot.
lordofultima 2 years ago
@lordofultima thank a lot for the info never would have thought of trying that

Just out of curiosity, what set up is your stick? Like, sanwa buttons and stick? Is it square gate or octo gate?
Please, it would be appreciated.

@misterRDF All sanwa, square gate.

Thank you very much for your answer, dude.

Hi,
I'd like to know a few things.
Is the FADC worth 2 bars for HP Shakunetsu? And why not do HP SRK and cancel that into HP Shakunetsu?
And why combo with 3 crouching LPs? I played a guy that this a lot, but why not use a MP instead of the third LP?
CrimsonThirst 2 years ago
Yes it's worth it. Because of juggle count if you do a hp srk cancelled on the third one of the fireball hits will miss if you do this after a lk tatsu 2 will mis, without a tasu the most damaging fadc fireball is using the mp srk. I would think 3 lps is for ease of use and the fact they can be chained into a true block string if blocked or you can easily link (without moving your finger) the third for a cancel. Hope this helps answers your question.
jamheald 2 years ago
It's not always worth it, it's up to you and how liberal you are with your meter. LP SRK to HP Shaku does more damage in a combo, simple as that.
the 3 cr.LP's into a combo are for hit-confirming. I have a video on this if you haven't seen it yet.

Cool. I got this song too.

Hi lordodultima,
Saw your work I have to say it is the greatest Akuma Guide ever. I am having lots of problems with the LP SK FADC to HP Shaku. :|
I have problems with Haduken and the uppercut.. they dont come out as I want them to.. moving to a fightstick from a fightpad.. still having issues adapting .... any exercise tips?
brianinlfc 2 years ago
wow, this video is amazing. i saw some of those jap pro gamers pull out these combos in every akuma game, I'm gonna do more exercise. i'm kinda new to this game, are you using that madcatz lower end product with stick and buttons moded??

@Alabastermh Yes, although I'm getting a TE in two days or so.

Hey nice vid man, Got a qeustion too. I mostly play with friends and lately my friend is taking guile. The point is he is kinda ubeatable at the moment. He turtles like no tomorow and gets me if i want to make a move. Any ideas on how to counter him?
skom555 2 years ago
@skom555 Turtle. Akuma has all the tools to be just as, if not more annoying a turtle character than Guile. Be patient and react to his sonic booms, wait until you can identify what type of sonic boom he's throwing so he can't sneak in damage with EX sonic boom or catch you jumping early with an LP sonic boom. You can win the fireball war with sporadic red fireballs, and jump forward relatively safely with the shelter EX air fireball provides.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Great, thanks for the help :) next time we play il defo try it out.
skom555 2 years ago
Hey man, AWESOME VID.
Just a question, I have a PS3 (with pad) and i can pull off some moves, but it gets too hard when it comes to FADC etc, then when I play at the arcade, I can't do the combos i've mastered on pad coz its too different, should I just buy a joystick and go from there?
LiftEatSleep 2 years ago
Akuma is WEAK... and boring...
stephendeo 2 years ago
@stephendeo Akuma is one of the strongest characters in the game..boring gets 17,000 views I guess, whatever you say mang.
lordofultima 2 years ago
gouken is stronger sorry
stephendeo 2 years ago
@stephendeo Actually he's much, much weaker, in damage potential and on the tier list..
lordofultima 2 years ago
actually it doesn't matter how strong the character is Gouken will own u fella add me PS3 stephendeo
stephendeo 2 years ago
@stephendeo Get an Xbox. Also, I feel Gouken is one of my better matches.
lordofultima 2 years ago
i'm on PC as well add me
stephendeo 2 years ago
He has low stamina, but awesome damage and the best combos.
LiftEatSleep 2 years ago
actually gouken can be just as strong and for less meter j.hp hp xx ex dp dash in hk tatsu does over 400 but his normals are pathetic in comparison to Akuma's so is his anti-air.
jamheald 2 years ago
Thank you for teaching me things like this. U really helped me. I love that white thingy xDDDD
thezxshadow4you 2 years ago
I have one question for anyone that might know... is there ANY difference (frames or something?) in doing a standing light dp-> FADC, and doing the light tatsu-> light dp ->FADC? when I practice, I can do dp->fadc->shaku with like 99% consistency, then when I throw in the tatsu, it drops to like 50% on 1p side, like 2% 2p side! it's crazy... the problem is always the FADC, it always gets stuck doing the full FA and doesn't dash out. Does the timing change somehow with the tatsu??
ryoaska1 2 years ago
NO difference, it's all in your mind. You are completely focused on the FADC at hand when doing it clean off a standing SRK, when you throw in the other bits of the combo you jumble the FADC when the time comes.
That or you mash LP DP which will mess up your FADC's royally. So don't do that if that's what you do.
lordofultima 2 years ago
well, thanks that's good to know...

What do you think this is recorded on? Both the PS3 and 360 fightsticks work on PC.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Wow...the best video tutorial I've seen for Akuma. Some of the combos I thought it couldn't be done. Would be very hard to pull some of it off in a tournament when everything is so fast.
kenPon89 2 years ago
Actually most of these are just BnB pretty standard in tournament play.
jamheald 2 years ago
Yeah these are pretty basic combos for Akuma, I'd say the essentials even. You have to know them for competitive play.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Awesome vid, really appreciate you doing this for the Akuma community. A quick question: you mentioned to lxoquendo that you "can" do the combos without plinking. You have awesome consistency though (that FADC marathon!) so wondering if on for example LK(c), LP(c), MP(c) / MK(c) you always plink the MP/MK or if you've just got the timing to a T... Thanks!
atgrehl 2 years ago
Well I don't generally plink combos unless it's the roundhouse loop. jab jab strong shouldn't be hard at all, that's his number one hit-confirm in my opinion.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Great thanks again... now off to the training room!
atgrehl 2 years ago
Hmm... I think at 3:14 you did a crouching fierce instead of a standing one. I know both work and it doesn't really matter, but just nitpicking. ^__^
xeleion 2 years ago
crouching fierce takes two more frames, not a fan.
lordofultima 2 years ago
i have a question i do main gouki and i was watching a sfiv tourney where there mentioned plinking and double tapping to make combos work how exactally do u do that?
lxoquendo 2 years ago
I double-tap in this video plenty of times, just pay attention.
As for plinking, there is a little plinking demonstration in part two of my Raging Demon tutorial.
lordofultima 2 years ago
thanks for the quick reply i figured you wouldnt be awake its pretty late where im at does double tapping help you get the timing of the combos better?
lxoquendo 2 years ago
I don't double tap too much, just did it for the sake of demonstration in this video. Combos are perfectly fine without double-tapping or plinking.
As for the time, dude I just woke up at like 2am. Haha.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Nice, none of that 2 fadc into so many links of jabs and shorts that they become almost meaningless due to damage scaling. Good vid.
I got a question for you though, I recently made the transition from 3rd strike, in which I also played akuma. The main difference I feel is the timing on the links, would you equate it to being like timing the inputs like parrying in 3rd strike? Or is there a difference in timing depending on the combo and I would have to just feel it out for each one?
thraphelga 2 years ago
While the timing can sometimes be similar to parrying from 3rd Strike, every link combo for the most part in the game has slightly different timing (which is annoying and prevents me from being good with other characters).
Just have to get the feel for the combos that you use and stick to it I guess, I'd liken links to a metronome. Every link has a specific tempo (like a song), it's up to you to stay on rhythm.
lordofultima 2 years ago
I watch this everyday *.*
buffmanuy 2 years ago
One of the reasons I love play as akuma is the badass combos. Great editing on this videos.
That weak shoryu after weak tatsu gave nightmares, I just can't do it, unless if I mash the shoryu, but that make focus cancel miss.
Any tips? My timing on that part is horrible. I use homemade arcade stick.
Thanks in advance.
inshideru 2 years ago
I always time the LP SRK, since it will fuck up the FADC if you mash. Just work on timing, you'll likely have to hit it slightly later than you would the HP SRK.
lordofultima 2 years ago
Man that video is awersome!!! And you are one GREAT akuma!!! Sorry for the bad english, im from brazil XD rsrsr You play like a pro =)

I was awful at this game and all fighting games, only by putting in the time will you get any better, play to get experience, practice execution, study match-ups, get to know the SF community and talk to them about strategy. You don't have the right min
