It was cancelled because of fox, i really dislike fox i love the show and film, Just wish they gave it a chance, All you see on TV these days are Criminal investigation programs, comedy programs, and the few dramas here and there. FireFly was something different a adventure and different plots each episode which still kept the FireFly theme intact. Just soo annoyed on how it was cancelled after 14 episodes thats no time to give a TV show, you've got to let it have some breathing space. Loved it.

I think of all the sci-fi shows ever to air, Firefly was the most realistic. We are human and we make mistakes, and we are always going to have wars, have moral disputes, political problems and all the other problems we have now, no matter how far technology develops, you just can't erradicate our humanity - amongst our search for love and other things -> to make mistakes.

And there are no aliens in it - just real people living very real lives.

I understand why they cancelled it, cowboys with spaceships was probably a bit weird for some. But once you got past that you find yourself watching a show with rich characters and an interesting plot. The show had a lot of potential that has sadly gone unrecognised.

Beautiful tho' it is, I never got that lyric.

If it said, "There's no *other* place I can be," it would make sense (tho it wouldn't scan).

But it always seemed to me it oughta say, "There's no place I *can't* be... " -- since for Mal and his crew, Serenity lets them go -- and be -- wherever they please (as long as they can slip past Alliance ships / Operatives / what-have-you).

If anyone can 'splain me what I'm missing, I'd surely appreciate it...

I think it means that Mal and his crew have no other place they would rather be. Serenity is there home, and since they've 'found serenity', they can't leave it. As Inara said, "Why would I want to leave serenity?"

They can travel anywhere they want to go, but no other place would be their home like serenity ist'.

Thats why is "Theres no place I can be".

But thats just my observation

@smartalek1 try this: finding serenity also means: finding home or inner piece or whatever you wish to call it, they found serenity, is a way of playing upon the words meaning, they found a home in serenity. they also survive on smuggling, making it hard for that home to stay in one place.

@garagatza , you'll see. They will find a way of destroying it, and then someone will tell you the same. It needed a remake. If you compare both originals, although Firefly was so original, it didn't have the same impact. Try going to sci-fi conventions, and even today, 32 years after, you still see people dressed as cylons or as colonial warriors alongside Starwars and Startrek. No mention on Firefly. It is as if it never existed.
