  • It looks so cute, but I can't help but wonder how much time it took away from A Song. -_-

  • Mr. Martin please don't die.

  • Ok so now imagine this same guy describing a man getting his penis flayed off his body with a knife. Hey, you just read his latest book!

  • The man is 62 years of fucking age. He isn't going to die any time soon. Shut up about it, Jesus. That shit is getting old.

  • @ArseTang Understand many of us had Robert Jordan die on us before he completed his series. We fear for the things and people we love. I love this series, I fear for this series.

  • @Terransupremist Robert Jordan was told he was going to die. To my knowledge George R.R. Martin doesn't have Amyloidosis.

  • first ice dragon was from ghotic

  • I can never give up on George. His Song of Ice and Fire series has always been ranked number 1 among other fantasy books. I didn't know until now that there were more books he wrote, and I am happy to explore them.

  • I adore George Martin and his stories, but he did not create the ice dragon. The farthest back I can remember an ice dragon was Dungeons and Dragons in the 1970's.

  • @eattherich588 Well, you are correct. Though in D&D, they are called White Dragons. They are part of the Chromatic Dragons. The breath cones of cold (snow and frost).

  • @BluelightMercury ... he's fat, because he probably doesn't live a healthy lifestyle... not because he's a writer...

  • His work is briljant though :)

  • Coulda sworn Yugio had ice dragon before this guy came up with it, and even magic the gathering. Maybe not as much as in detail, but this guy gives himself too much credit. His contribution to the fantasy world. Geezus, when I was a kid I use to day dream about dragon, and each colour represented what kind the dragon was, and guess what, white dragon ice dragon for me. >.>

  • i love you George! Fuck anyone who says anything bad about you! this is YOUR story, you write it when you want and we should be privileged to be able to read anything that you write. Everyone needs to stop hating and being so angry with him. I love you George! you are awesome

  • Why is everybody talking about him dying??? :(

  • @tofucyborg

He looks 15 years older than he is :(

    HE MUST NOT DIE.

  • @irnbld he also looks like one of Joan of Arc's torturers in Dreyer's JoA

  • He looks like a merchant of old, or a watch master, or mayve Vic the trader from Fallout 2 :D

  • I was wondering what he was supposed to represent, he is tyrion. a dwarf. hhaaha good lord, he's uglier than i thought he was.

  • @thefiestymexican I see what you're saying, but no child, indeed no parent would want a book about anything that they don't know about. People stick to what they know, so as a dragon being a cliche, that's what will sell.

  • god shes sexy

  • Seriously, one of the best writers ever, not just modern writers.

  • @19NaVi72 I have to disagree. I'd say Homer was and is the greatest author of all time. Read the Iliad and the Odyssey. But still, after reading the first two of George R.R. Martin's books, I'd have to say that he ranks within the top ten best authors of all time. His books show how dangerous power can be when so many people claim it for themselves. It serves as a lesson that power must be handled delicately.

  • @AntiTroll101 The Odyssey isn't a novel. Homer and Martin don't even compare.

  • That's what I love about fantasy writers, they're all geeks just like us readers :)

  • @CircleBastiat Geeks grow up to rule the world.

  • he even looks like how i imagine a writer would look ^^

  • these two would make a good porno

  • @firax456 hahahaha

  • Hes already 62? Thats not good man. Whats this "Ice Dragon" that hes concerning himself with?

SONG OF ICE AND FIRE OR GTFO!!!! >:(

  • Now, if George would get a better work ethic, we could have the book we've all been waiting for.

  • @GeminiBreaker Look man he is an amzing author, and so what it takes him a long time to write his book. Its his craft he can take however long we wants. Besides, I would ratgher him take 10 years to write an amazing book rather than 3 years and write crap. He is awesoem and give him credit.

  • HE HAS REALLY LITTLE HANDS

  • There like only 5 chapters left for A Dance with Dragons so its coming soon. Why don't you people realize that if an author doesn't have ideas for a book or isn't comfortable about FEELING his story he cant write for shit, do you guys really want him to finish the series fast shitty like how Terry Goodkind did? or do you want him to be in his A game.

  • lol not one person on here gives a shit about this Ice Dragon book. Everyone's just impatiently waiting for him to finish A Song of Ice and Fire before he "does a Jordan" and kicks the bucket with the series unfinished. . .Come to think of it, he doesn't look the picture of perfect health now does he...?

  • Respect you sir, but Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, long ago created variants of dragons for the Monster Manual text. Ice dragons are one of the dragons from that manual.

  • Dude, is this guy aware of what happened to Robert Jordan? Get off your retarded tug-boat-lookin'-captain ass and finish A Song of Ice and Fire!

  • @Aumakua76 Hahaha! Right on.

  • game of thrones sounds crappy

  • @Thetruthishere11 Nope! One of the best series of the genre. IMO

  • @bill984984

mmm. not like the hobbit or other adventure novels.

  • @Thetruthishere11 LOTR is also one of my favs. But it's all about personal preference i guess.

  • @Thetruthishere11 You're right, it's got too many characters and complcated plot points and would probably just make your brain hurt. Read twilight you would probably like it better.

  • @mwells219 Please tell me your post is a jest. If you really think that that brainless, made for 13-yr old girls, trash twilight is better than a song of ice and fire, then I believe thinking too much makes your brain hurt. Also, I would not tell anyone that complicated things make your brain hurt- it makes you look stupid. But, of course, you did misspell complicated.

  • hahahaha nobody found ridiculous how she presented the book at the end? It looks like a lose weight commercial

  • I'd like to ice that girls dragon.. the woman in the video, not the little girl in the book.... im not a pedo.... :/

  • I'll kill him if he dies b4 completing the series xD

  • "i invented ice dragon"

    what a joke.

"i will finish dance with the dragons" x8

    yea right...

  • He's also commented on one of his blogs that he may end up making an 8th book because of all the material hes pushed to the sixth book.

  • You have to hand it to the guy nearly five years since his last book and he still has figured out a way to make more money out of it. Perhaps if the HBO series does well enough it will make him finish instead of pulling a Robert Jordan. Then again Jordan left notes on how to finish in case he died.

  • Freeze-breathing serpents have existed in mythology for a long time.

  • @FundamentalPhysicist ya, i agree,

    wyrms, ice-drakes/dragons,

but dragons arent serpents, they got legs

  • i love how everyone is like "don't die george or i'll cut my wrists!!" but in reality everyone is killing him in their minds xD

i'm positive he's going to finish the series, only 3 more books left! is not too much

  • @aliencow27

    Shut the fuck up

  • stop behaving like idiots. i am sure he does not intend to die. why the fuck do i read everywhere "please finish the book before you die"?! I wish I were him, just to shout "fuck you, idiots" and burn the book. go buy dostoievski and let him be alive, lol

  • As far as I know there is no Ice Dragon in AD&D. It is called a White Dragon. It is made of white scales. He is saying his dragon is made of ice. I could be wrong since I haven't played D&D in a long time and it's possible some of the newer editions include an "Ice Dragon".

  • yeah in d&d there are all kinds of dragons ice, fire, poision, shadow, chromatic, ect

  • I think he was kidding about "inventing" ice dragons, he is allowed to joke.

His overall point was, I think, that ice dragons are rarer, by at least some small margin, in mythology/stories/ficiton/tales than their fiery counterparts.

Either way, what a good motherfucking writer. If I was more like him, I would not be a motherfucking failure.

  • I like his comment that he invented the Ice Dragon, oh sorry George but D&D already had an Ice Dragon in it before you came along and wrote about one!

  • Martin is not yet ready with "Dance with Dragons". But maybe he is already writing book six? You never know...

  • If he dies before he finishes A Song of Ice and Fire, I might just cry!

Not only would I lose my favorite author, but I'll never get to finish the greatest novel series I've found.

    HURRY UP GEORGE...DAMN DUDE!

    WTF?!

  • damn your the laziest author ever! hurry up already. Stephen King thought he was about to kick the bucket and finally decided to finish the Dark Tower Series. and George is alot older than Stephen King and he needs to finish the Ice and Fire series soon.

  • @exit284 ...Wow. Laziest author ever? Fuck right off, immature pig.

  • @PurpleBadger oh I love devoted fans they will take anything they are given, never demanding! ur comment gets a thumbs up since you took the time to be offended by my opinon hahaha your awesome :)

  • @exit284 There's simply more to his life than writing this book series. He's a human being. No one ever goes, 'You know what? It's an amazing series. If you're too ill and aren't having the quality of life to be able to finish it, then fine. Pass notes on to an author you trust and enjoy the rest of your life.' Because it might possibly be detremental to them and their pass time.

  • Umm George R. R. Martin does a great deal of Si-fi.... He also does fantasy.. the genres are closely related from a writing stand point... creating a world.. making rules, ext.

  • writer of the best fantasy books ever

  • The Mountain That Blogs About Football wrote a children's book?!

  • Why is it that men with beards are always wise and right?

  • @FlamingLion116 yea, may have gone a bit overboard...

    got a bit mad

  • I'm pretty obssessed with the Ice and Fire series at the moment. I keep telling myself that as soon as I finish whatver one I'm on I'll read something else before I start the next one, but I can't.

  • George. R. R. Martin has More talent than Orson Scott Card. He's such a wonderful writer and has so many intentive ideas.

  • @Chrispat8 That's your argument? Because GRRM is, "suce a wonderful writer and has so many inventive ideas," he has more talent than Orson Scott Card? They are completely different genres! Card does Sci-Fi (some, like Wyrm, have fantasy elements), GRRM does fantasy. Their styles are radically different.

  • @Helios8888 wow harsh

  • The man.

  • damm really?? wow i wasn't aware of that, i just recently started reading his books, and finished all the current ones. Man this guy needs to step his game up, im pretty sure 4 years is plenty of time to write a good book.

  • I'm still waiting for yours to come out

  • wat?

  • God George, don't die before your Song of Ice and Fire is over. Otherwise my life is forfeited.

  • @Brahms777

    pmsl

I agree with you bro :)

  • @Brahms777 That's pretty damn pathetic.

  • @Brahms777 You fucking idiots make me sick. The guy is a human being, not your fucking personal writer.

  • @Brahms777 I've been saying the same thing for years. I will fucking Ouija-talk with him from beyond the grave and help him finish it if I have to.

  • @RavenFMZ

Feck that I say we steal his genetic infromation and clone him to keep him writing forever.

  • @Brahms777 is he sick?

  • @jmlbloom No, he's just aging and he puts out books at a turtle-esque pace.

  • girth beard

  • Does anyone know what the piece of music in the beginning and end of the video is?

  • Oh the seven hells, with such things, i will never see an end to a song of ice and fire before i die, WTF!

  • there's always WILDCARDS

  • he created ice dragons? woah

  • Actually are you sure that those Ice Dragons were made entirely of ice? I think that's what he was talking about with his being origional.

  • not the first one,

ice dragons were in the game Heroes of Might and Magic

though im sure the story is original

  • George Martin invented the concept of Ice Dragons? Wow, someone better tell him they've been around at least since my days of geeking around with Dungeons & Dragons 20 years ago...

  • He started work in science fiction literature way more than 20 years ago.

  • OMG!!! He needs to lose weight!

  • WE NEED TO KIDNAP THESE AUTHORS AND MAKE THEM WRITE ONLY. its like making 7 wow characters when u only need 1. WORK ON UR BEST PIECE OF WORK WTF!@

  • Thats a bit weird, I could swear the ice dragon/wyrm/wyvern has been thought about before. Altho I really love his literature, id not give him credit for it

  • That's true, I've also met with ice drake before the publication of the novel. However, he might have not heart from this concept...

Strange. If there is a creature in fantasy, that is hard to reform, it is the dragon. It captured the human mind in such way, that it has countless variants, that we saw before.

However, this novel sounds cute and interesting, and as GRRM wrote in the acknowledgments, the devil (or, in this case, dragon) is in the details.

  • frostwyrm lol ;p

  • After seeing GRRM, there's no way he's gonna live another 10 years to finish his 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. Especially, if he's writing other books and working on an HBO series. I don't think the series will ever get finished.

  • BosnaSarajevo89: Totaly agree with you dude

  • this dude's one of the best sci/fi authors out there, a genius, can't wait till "a dance with dragons" comes out.

  • shame, cause you'll be waiting a loooong time. I dont think he's even gotten past the example chapters he posted up what, five or six years ago?

  • yea i know man, his book was suppose to come somtime sept or oct, its november, and ive read that its suppose to come sometime next year, it sux! Hes a good author and all, but he takes WAY too long.

  • Trops fort G.R.R.martin !

    So strong ...

  • he's a lot like tyrion

  • She was pretty hot, George. Did you get the digits?

  • Damn, ibanezrick. You just made my day. I can't stop laughing. =D

  • When he first started he was 500 pages deep, then he scrapped all of it because it wasn't working. How many authors have the integrity to do that? Not many. Most would just release the derivative material they have to appease fans and cash in, but George RR Martin has too much respect for his and and for himself to do that. He's a writer's writer, and if you don't like it you can shove off and read Terry Brooks.

  • Dude, when it comes down to it. I just want to read it. I feel like i've been waiting forever. I'M sure you're just as impatient. I love this series and can't wait to see what happens with Arya, Jon, Tyrion & daenerys

  • And what, may I ask, is so wrong with Terry Brooks?

I like both authors. Why in the defense of one author do you feel like you have to throw mud in the face of another?

You're being no better than the person you're dissagreeing with in the first place.

  • i know it's a childrens book but i wunna read it :D one thing though... i just hope that Martin won't go into the grave anytime soon -.-

  • I hear that...im afraid that he might pass away before he finishs A song of Ice and FIre, which would be crushing

  • It's not a kids book he uses alot of adult language

But it is one of the best books ever

  • Maybe the next book has taken on a life of it's own; and it is chained up in his basement like a dra-gimp. Only being let out to satisfy his desire to have his big nipples sucked. (End of Book 1)

It's ok Martin, unlock the trunk and let free your dra-gimp..... sigh*

I think hell just froze over.

  • This mindless drivel of bashing GRRM needs to stop. GRRM has the right to write whatever he wants. And though he is using his time to write other books, you can rest assured that he spends countless hours laboring, LABORING on 'Dance'.

GRRM has a passion for excellence, perfection, and I think if the mindless nim-wits shut their traps, they may be quite surprised at what George turns out in 'Dance'.

Give it a rest, George is out to please YOU with all this long spent time after all.

  • LABORING on ADWD? Please dont be retarded I keep track of the mans website and live journal and I can tell you he doesnt have the same motivation or desire to finish this series as he used to. He instead spends more time talking about football, politics, traveling and all his other little projects and if someone brings up ADWD he blows his lid.

A writer is a payed proffessional and should accordingly treat his fans with some respect and give an update once in awhile, it would take 10 minutes.

  • The Ice Dragon - $20 bucks

    The sword Long Claw - $ 295

A Dance with Dragons - Priceless

  • It's rad that he thinks that he's the first person to ever 'create' an ice dragon. I think he needs to play D&D for around 14 seconds and realize what's up.

  • Sad but true *lol*

  • I also agree with this. The notion of the "ice dragon" has been around for a long time, even before the age of "omg lol D&D," in various myths and legends.

  • OK his schedule is clear until July. Please god let him finish the book.

  • If was'nt so busy writting crappy books like this, he might be able finish writting a dance with dragons

  • he actually finished to write that book and it's out in the us since october 2008 will be out in the uk october 2009. i cant wait for it. best ever series :D

  • Nope, it's not out.

  • Ha! your wrong its not out yet. my point stands.

  • MY OPINION RAAAAAAAAGH

  • Jesus fuckin Christ could you take the hint and PMS on someone else's video?

  • You dont know wtf you are talking about. The publisher pays him before the book is even done, and he signs a contract with them you moron. Learn some shit before you decide to talk again. WRITING IS A PROFFESSION, he certainly is not acting like a proffessional. Since when was it so difficult to take 20 minutes of time to update a damn website.

Do you understand the concept of fan loyalty or are you just an idiot?

  • It doesn't matter when he gets paid, it's what he gets paid. It's not what he's worth. Obviously he gets paid in advance, he's a writer. Congratulations, you just won the No Shit Award.

And the good news is no one gives a fuck whether you think he's acting professionally as a writer of literature. To pose the hypothesis that he's not you'd need evidence, starting with what constitutes professionalism and work from there to prove it involves blogging for fans and being a "nice guy".

  • Actually a lot of people give a fuck and have every right to so why dont you go and fuck yourself now because I really dont give a shit what you think. Enjoy not finishing the series hes not going to finish it you fucking scum bag.

  • Refuckulate420, let's just say you've got issues and leave it there. Did your mom not hug you, or hug you too much? Was it your mom or your dad who was emotionally distant? Which one was overly critical? Why don't we just put the moody little bitch back in the box. Women hate that shit.

  • Lets just a you're a piece of shit and leave it there. You have your opinion, I have mine. But you're still a dick. lol I would be doubtful if you ever get pussy. Probably spend more time on youtube being an asshat.

  • Ouch. That hurts. Even all over the place with incomplete sentences, that hurts. It makes me think I was wrong and maybe you really could have proven he wasn't a professional writer. It makes me think oh hey look Dexter's on....

  • Oh yeah, and writers write with their blood. So every time he writes an update he's taking real time and energy away from writing and rewriting to make sure you feel important. And you're not.

  • Have to correct you here: The pilot is officially ordered and they're in pre-production right now planning to shoot in the UK sometime next year.

  • they already know, no need to offer that fact, oh no... XDD

  • Wow, you obviously get way too much pussy with that attitude and moodiness for me to give a shit what you think. But for everyone else, yes George Martin's ASOIAF is officially in production and filming with HBO. If they like his pilot, then they'll film the other 11 episodes. So cross your fingers.

    Grow up. Little bitch

  • He began working on one book in 2000 after A Storm of Swords came out. It got so big he had to split in into two books so he released A Feast For Crows in 2005. It's been three years now and there's still no word on how much actual work is left on Dance. Seriously, there's two more after that so there's a very good chance he'll pull a Jordan on us.

  • I am beginning to think that myself...it doesnt seem like he has much dedication to it anymore. His blogs are all about football, politics and other BS. He made it clear on his website over a year ago in quite a nasty way that hes not giving anymore updates until hes done..just because fans were getting a bit anxious.

Says to me he knows he should be a lot further along then he is and is not willing to admit it.

  • He's very committed to his series. He hired a writer's assistant for the first time in his life this year and HBO has begun filming the pilot for ASOIAF. He writes in prose; it takes a while. And Robert Jordan's books fell off because books 6 through ten were RUSHED with little editing, taking only three years EACH. They were fucking jammed through. George Martin isn't doing that. He's a craftsman. And he doesn't give a fuck if you don't like it.

  • Oh, he's definitely committed. He's contributing to and editing the new Wild Cards books, he's overseeing two anthologies with Gardner Dozois, he's dealing with companies doing miniatures and sword replicas, and he still finds time to travel to conventions. On top of this he still finds the time to rant on his blog about football and politics.

  • Try to have some understanding, people send him emails basically asking "are we there yet?", that would piss me off too.

And you can't expect him to not have a life, come on, if he spent ALL his time writing he would likely get sick of it.

  • Hmmm... The original novel isn't exactly a childrens story, but I guess he made it a bit nicer for children.

  • i went to a book store today to see if the "A Dance with Dragons" book was out yet, and they have it in their computer as "release in 2013." How true that is, i don't know, but it pissed me off, just the idea of it...grr

  • That has to be wrong. I could see that for the next part of his series but its already been 3 years since the last one so I doubt he wants to piss off and lose all his fans.

  • Tyrion is a Mary Sue for George himself.

  • Please, Oh God please, don't turn into Robert Jordan

  • God he reminds me of Tyrion, brilliant man he is.

  • Shut up. He wrote the Ice Dragon in 1980. Get a life.

  • People should stop pushing this. All obsessed with it coming out. I would prefer a good book rather then a forced one. So stop acting as if the sooner we get it the better it will be.

As for writing a children's novel. The man can write whatever he damn well pleases.. he's the author.. get over yourselves. Although I think there are plenty of Ice dragons in literature so I don't believe he created them. Even in dragonlance.. which is quite well known.

  • dude omg he reminds me of that dwarf inventor guy from the masters of the universe (he-man) movie

  • Finish A Dance With Dragons, please.

  • lol i agree.finish first the series a song of ice and fire and then write whatever u want plz xD

  • He said in an interview on the internet, that he "didn't say never" to the idea of writing books about the invasion of Westeros by Aegon. And the doom of Valerya......

Only think about it, if that would happen. What a fantasy series, and what a writer he is.

  • He is the best i ever read xD

But he takes awfully too long!

But other ppl say good things take time.

  • He will. And trust me, it´ll be awesome.

  • Yes, it will be! But, Martin is not so very young anymore. A Dance with Dragons isn't finished yet, but it's publication date is set at 30 Sept. He has to "hurry" a bit.

What a magnificent series A Song... is. But it would astonishing if he is be able to write those other stories. i hope he lives for years and years.
