What Steve Jobs, You, and every person that touts this phone forgets to mention is that it's only $299 for new ATT customers,BUMMER the only way you're gonna get that shit is to sign for a new 2yr. contract BUMMER. So I can't upgrade for another yr. BUMMER for me and other iphone owners it will still cost $499 BUMMER! After all isn't every iphone contract only a year old at best?

wow, steve FINALLY decided to be smart and make a plastic back. every ipod and iphone ive seen (even with a case) has numerous scratches on the back because of that freaking metal plate they all have on them its so stupid!

Good question, but if plastic is part of the reason it costs $200 less i'll take it. Also, myself, like many other people have bought plastic cases for our iPhones and we never see the aluminum back anyhow. I can only imagine how many people who haven't used cases have some ugly looking scratches and marks on the back of their aluminum case. Perhaps without the aluminum back i'll feel less a need to purchase a separate case.

No need to worry too much. The iPhone 3G was mainly released for those countries on a 3G network. This is the first release for those countries. The USA got the first one on the 2.5G network.
