Tetris DS marathon speed run

I was inspired by this video, and actually completed the main game (i.e. clear 200 lines). But I'll admit I started at a much lower level (I think it was level 8 or somewhere around there).

This is rather easy level to play at. His time was really good, though. But the fact that you can spin blocks infinitely and move them across the screen, makes it much more simple. Makes endless mode for Tetris DS useless.

this is the best tetris version ever not only because its old school nintendo but the ds had a good d-pad. the wii version is ok but the d-pad of the wiimote is jus total ass

I've learned a lot of techniques from this video. I've managed to get 1028000 points in marathon 200-line mode after playing Tetris DS every once in a while for the past few months. I also watch this video every once in a while, and with more experience, I've been able to understand some of the techniques used here that I hadn't understood before. The skill displayed here seems really far off still, even after all this practice. He must have been practicing a long time for this great video.

if you want to get a higher non-endless marathon score try starting on lvl 20 and do more t-spins. The first few times I tried starting from lvl 1 and could only get 400-450k but I realized ofc because all 200 lines in lvl 20 are worth heaps more.

When you said that I thought he was going to clear the whole well with the last tetronimo. But what he did wsn't a show-off. He was doing a speed-run, and he dropped a few blocks to get the | tetronimo so he could finish the marathon as fats as possible.

Contrary, each line clear has "waste frames" of animation. Clearing tetrises (four at a time) rather than T-Spins (one or two at a time) will eliminate more "waste frames." The current strategy is faster for the purpose of speed running.

Very nicely done, did you also play tetris back in the day? :P On the Game Boy? With those rockets if you played it in Game A and also a heart if you pressed select at the start of the game, to get over level 10 speeds. Loved it :D It's been ages but I might try it again :D
