Right click the pic then go to Media Effects then look for Something that says something masking then move the bar as far as you want. Anther way is in the transions. If you wanna make it to where only something like and body is visable then go to Pan/whatever and look atthe bottom of a window that pops up. If you see a check and a box click the unmarked box. Thats masking. Go around the area you want and thats about it.
