Many Shock Treatments go to 200 Joules. This is equivalent to dropping a 5 lbs baby off a 30 foot high building! To confuse this with heat energy where the energy is distributed in many degrees of internal freedom is misleading if not intentional and divisive if intentional!
I am no advocate of ECT but you can't really compare energy that way. The form of the energy matters a lot. If I were to convert that energy into heat a human head ways about 4500 grams so that is enough energy to heat a human head by about 150/(4500*4.17)=0.008 degrees not even a mild fever. If you were struck by a car with 150 joules of energy it wouldn't even leave a bruise because it was going 1 mph. His analogy really isn't a val;id comparison.
