Yes the XFR is close, but remember that the M5 was launched in 2004. The XFR in late 2009. 5 years is a lot in motoring terms.

I only had the rear back box, the rest of the exhaust, catalytic converters, headers etc where stock. I doubt that there was any power gain at all, only a gain in noise as such.

Brutal shifts like these may look and feel cool but certainly they render actually all drivetrain components last way, way shorter.

For Automatics, The harder and faster they shift, the less wear on the transmission's clutch packs. However, you're right on SOME components lasting much shorter than normal. Motor mounts and drive shafts/half shafts are fucked..
