  • @Raja221 Nope. False.

  • @Raja221 Mac os it's just open source from unix for that firefox working good with mac xD

  • Yeah to me firefox is the best browser out today i only use firefox for my imac 27 inch not safari

  • Why haven't you updated your mac to OS 10.6?

  • this is sooo damn pointless. who cares? if there is a class called give a shit, let me know so I can sign up!!@!

  • not anymore

safari 4 on snow leopard is insane!!!

btw firefox fails when tring to load my website, it puts red lines everywhere and boxes around stuff. test it out.

    instavalues period tk

  • The new googlechrome is alot! better than safari

  • Safari 4 is still the fastest browser on windows and os x.

  • i'm still for google

  • Did you know that google chrome downloads shit without you even knowing it. In turn less secure.

  • @razor005 How do you know that? You listend to one of your retarted safari folowers?

  • nope not a safari fan. Used Firefox for a while. A buddy of mine got a shitload of viruses while using Chrome, thats all.

  • Well i never get viruses from chrome .... well idk mby he downloaded to much porn? Just kidding let's stop this argument? :)

  • @kikomam1 Sure I hate getting inbox crap about a pointless argument.

  • wow, i wonder why it only happens to you...

  • @swisscheesepotatochi

It doesnt only happen to me...

I made a website and internet explorer and firefox failed to load it correctly.

anyone who goes to it will see the red lines. its in firefox's css defaults.

  • On Firefox, either Mac or Windows, I notice that the content just pops up as it loads, which I always thought was weird compared to Safari.

  • safari all the way

  • can you make a video on firefox vs camino

  • I use the default Vista Internet Explorer.

  • The new safari 4 beta is faster than the previous version. Firefox is nice too, but I'd rather use safari as the main browser anyway.

  • IMO, Firefox is a fine browser in itself, but its not really a great Mac browser. Its basically just a port over from the PC version that is made to look more Mac-like. It doesnt take advantage of the Keychain, system wide spell check, etc, which is pretty much what all good Mac browsers are supposed to do.

Camino is #1 for me. Been using it for like 6 years now.

  • If you want something fast and lean. Use Opera. Watch my video Opera 10 alpha to see how fast it is.

  • get leopard

  • Also, Firefox is too bloated and the UI still doesn't look like a native OS X tab.

About the Flash Plug-in: With Camino, I get 25-35% CPU usage when watching videos in high-quality. With Firefox, I get 40-45% CPU usage, which sucks a lot.

But I can't wait for Google Chrome for Mac OS X to come out. I know that it'll be great.

  • Yeah, Apple's claims that Safari is the fastest web browser are bullshit. If you want the fastest browser of all, you should download Camino 2.0 Alpha (the Beta is coming in about a week). What I hate about Firefox is that it takes about a decade to start up. It bounces on the dock for about 8 times before it opens and Safari opens on the 2nd bounce and Camino on the third. Firefox is also a RAM hog and it's Flash Plug-in performance is terrible.

  • I think the fastest browsers for OS X are iCab and Sunrise.

  • I use Browser... the web browser I made in Xcode.

  • You should really have like 1,000,000 views because this video is really informational and clear cut.

  • what is that whale in your dock and what does it do?

  • I prefer Firefox over Safari too, but recently I've been having some buggy problems in Firefox 3. On more than one occasion I've tried to open a link in a new tab. The URL appears in the address bar, but the page is blank and says "done" at the bottom. So I have been using Safari when this happens.

  • Weird. Normally I open links in new tabs by holding down the command key as I click. So far I find FF 3.0.1 to be rock solid, but everyone's computer is different. 3.0.2 is supposed to be out by the end of this month so that might squash this bug for you.

  • Which laptop do you have(or use most often)? I know in this video you say 'Macbook', but that could mean Macbook Pro, too. Just wondering!

  • When I made this video I was using a white 32-bit 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook with 2 GB of RAM. Your comment is the first one I am responding to with the brand new replacement MacBook Apple sent to me because I had so many problems with my old one. My primary machine is now a 2.4 GHz white "Penryn" MacBook w/ 2 GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, 802.11n wireless networking and a whole bunch of other upgrades. I hope to post a few video about it over the weekend. Peace.

  • what program do u use to take video screen shots on the mac

  • iShowU for the initial capture. Editing/final h.264 compression done with QuickTime Pro.

  • thx

  • Firefox 3 also supports color profile management now. see video response to see how to enable it.

  • ok so i know you have a powerpc mac but which one is it ... i could find it easily (most likely) on your home page but i wouldn't necessarily get your opinion on it... i am thinking a g4 but possibly a g5 but i don't really know what model to guess ... a laptop? but that would mean you aren't using a g5 ... i know it is powerpc due to the firefox icon

  • App icons are very easily modified in OS X (notice my 10.3 iChat icon in my dock even though I am using Tiger) so it would be wrong of you to assume I'm using PowerPC based on the icon. FYI this is running on a 32-bit 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook with 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM. I compile Firefox, Camino, and Thunderbird from source code and tune the optimization flags that will work best with my CPU.

  • well my ass just got owned

  • Fair enough, but at least you learned something new =).

  • either way that is my favorite icon ... the firefox one

  • any of the Gseries macs are power PC

  • so we all know that

  • What I think is more embarrassing is that Steve openly mocks Microsoft, but his browser which is pegged as the "fastest, most advanced" has no phishing filter installed. But I guess when you divert all your resources to the iPhone and act like a kid in a candy store, security is your last thought.

  • Exactly. One day Apple is going to be caught with their pants down and the guys lining up to give it to Steve Jobs and company are going to be Microsoft and Linux for being so arrogant and cavalier with their approach to security. There is no excuse for Apple letting certain vulnerabilities slide and Apple is truly displaying some great hubris by thumbing their nose and not thinking about how much more attention OS X is getting as their market share climbs.

  • i use opera safari feels too much like internet explorer

  • sorry for my typos and incoherent sentences, i'm awfully sleepy. :P

  • to be honest, back when i mostly used PCs forefox was the best. but on a mac there's one thing they could'nt fix even in firefox 3 (to my knowledge) is keychain integration.

i think it's _really_ important not to be forced to type your login names, passwords etc. everytime when you visit a site where you're not auomatically logged in.

this is why i use camino. :)

  • I love Camino as well and post Intel optimized builds on the Mozillazine Forums, but I admit to switching to FF3 almost full-time since it came out. Camino feels more native to OS X than Firefox 3, but the ability to use extensions, and the awesome bar has won me over to Firefox 3. I will still choose Camino over Safari any day.

  • For me its Firefox over Safari most of the time. The reason is extensions and plugins that I just can't live without. I also like that I can customize FF to my liking.

  • This is a point I think I failed to communicate in the video. The ability to add (or not add) extensions to Firefox is what makes the Gecko based browser so great. Apple would be wise to incorporate some of the Mozilla team's ideas in the next big update to Safari to bring it on a more equal footing to Firefox (integrated AdBlock would be a good start).

  • I find FF 3's UI a grand improvement over version 2. The interface only looks more busy in FF 3 because you can do that much more with Firefox. Safari's version of AdBlock doesn't even work in Tiger and not having AdBlock in a web browser is a crime. Being able to customize FF3's search bar with Wikipedia, YouTube, or eBay searches puts another nail in the Safari coffin for me (at least when using Tiger). Finally Apple really needs to reexamine their security policies before it bites them.

  • I'll second your opinion with Opera being lightning fast. It's ridiculous. The UI is a little too clunky for me and I know Firefox like the back of my hand which makes me lazy to learn a 4th web browser.

  • Safari is really quick to open from a cold start in OS X - I'll give Apple that. My Mozilla apps are compiled from source code so that might mitigate any slowness when I use FF on my system. One thing you can't deny though is excessive CPU usage when opening full-size images in Flickr. Both Tiger and Leopard versions of Safari 3 kick my CPU into overdrive and that's why I think Safari is a hog. Firefox also seems better with memory over time. I appreciate your arguments though.

  • kool wallpaper is dat a boeing or airbus?

  • Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe that is a Boeing 777 (not sure whether 200 or 300) They have both kinds in thier fleet.

By the way, great video Dell1032!

  • YouTube can't really reproduce the pixels of my desktop. From my screen you can clearly see the letters Boeing 777-300ER on the nose of the plane (currently my favorite aircraft - raked wingtips are super hot!) Yes, Emirates does fly both types including the record holding -200LR. Glad you like the video.

  • totally agree, that loading bar is deadly in safari, i cant see how apple says its the fastest browser...

  • First of all, I am on Tiger and using Safari 3.1.2 (4525.22). Safari 3 came out with the release of Mac OS 10.4.11. Before using so many exclamation points, please check your facts. FAIL !!!!!!!
