  • Is that a G bugle? it doesn't look like a regular b flat and it has the mello tone that the G bugle does.

  • It's got three valves...I don't know of any G bugles that have three valves

  • Wa y to go!

  • 6 people have no chops

  • i got to learn this

  • Sounds like Davis from Sketches of Spain! - Nice.

  • This may sound like a stupid question, but.. whats a lick. Dont get this wrong im a trumpet player too.

  • What kind of a mouthpiece do you know? Because I am currently searching for one that can help me maintain higher notes. Now I can "hit" about the Double F, and "squeak" the Double A. I've heard Schilke 14a4a is good for high registers, but kills tone. So is it a good idea to use that for high parts in Jazz and such, and use a 3C Bach for other stuff?

  • @Awshbuscus And not "know", sorry. I meant what kind of a mouthpiece do you use?

  • @Awshbuscus if you can hit double F (F4) or double a (A4)...i think you do not need anything=) You have to play jusst 2 tones and you will hit the triple c=)))) (c5)!!! I play bach 1 1/2c for practising, and schilke 15a4a...on the concerts...maby you can try vizzuti mouthpice. or J.marchinkiewicz E13-c.findley. it is amazyng!

  • @themisticism Thank you for the feedback, but I think you misunderstood what I was saying about my range. I think of the double F as the F simply one octave above the staff, the single F being the one sitting right on top of the staff. The single A I think is the one directly above the staff, with the double being an octave above that. As with the triple C, that is an octave higher than what I'm aiming for! But thanks for the help anyways, I'll look more into these mouthpieces.

  • @Awshbuscus Search around, try different mouthpieces. You're not going to be able to just pick a mouthpiece and say it works, it actually has to work for you. I hate the sharper rims and constricting feel of schilkes, so I switched to Bach. I suggest you try the Bach 3E for any lead playing, and try a 3C for concert/classical playing. Like I said though, try everything, and sometimes you just have to give a mouthpiece some time. You have to "break your lips into it a bit".

  • this is so freaking bad ass

  • dannnnngggg its sooo impressive

  • you use a whole lot of air MAN! Thats the key to hittin those high notes!!!!!

  • It's a good thing I wasn't experiencing a Blue Veiner just before I watched this wonderful vid, Leevil. There'd be blood EVERYwhere

  • wow! teach me! im a trumpet player too :)

  • wow!

    thats all?

wat is this, a demo to ur next video?

cmon we want more this is a waste!

  • nice!

  • i wooda bust a blood visel

  • that's dirty

  • that was cool

  • ummm. wow

  • I dont know if he played in an HBCU band but most trumpet players that play in the ALTISSSIMO range have really FAT tones in the altissimo range.. mostly because we have to cut through a band that is loud as a JET

  • i guess....depends on which HBCU band you play for...and some corps style bands are louder...actually i can think of a few that are louder then any HBCU band.....just saying....but i love HBCU im just saying that just cause you play for one style or another makes your a better trumpet player.

  • 1st of course there are some corps style bands that are louder like take Georgia Tech for example they have like 80 trumpet players and like 90 sousaphone players like no joke!! Of course thed be louder than a Band even like FAMU which ussually has the largest number of people and they would average 400 wheras GT would average 600-700. No it doesnt matter what type of band you are in.. i just noticed that the screamers in HBCU bands ussually have fatter tones in the Altissimo range.

  • maybe...i disagree but you know...thats ok

  • I think your numbers are a bit exaggerated. The largest marching band in the world (or the US at least) is Allen High School in Texas, and they are around 600. Georgia Tech looks to have between 350 and 400. And if there is ever a marching band that has more tubas than trumpets, I will personally slit my wrists.

  • No he's not in a HBCU or he didn't go.. He was a Jr. Co.. When I first met him... This guy is GOOD, AWESOME and goofy...LOL

  • That was really good !!

  • holy shiezenmcburgerbacon. that guy's crazy

  • Wow. That pierces the air. Great sound. Wish I could play like that.

  • your tone in the upper register is unreal. keep up the good work!

  • d like to have same range^^

    Good job dude :)

  • Damn, nice. I stopped playing the trumpet back in 8th grade, I still have it though! xD

  • bien ahy.... eers bueno tio.. t dejo mi msn pa estar en contacto es zizu012@

  • Lol Ive been playing trumpet for 13 years and I dont sond anything like that! Nice tone, Herd no pressure. Awsome high notes!

    5/5 Nice!

  • good sound!

  • That was truly awesome! I played acoustic trumpet for over 15yrs but never had that kind of passion.

Going to check out more of your stuff!

    NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cut your finger nails plox

  • Amazing tone man! Not a bit of pressure on those high notes. At least I couldn't hear it!

  • Wish i could play like that...

  • DAM!!!! thats a cool lick!! very nice high playing!!

  • That last note was pretty badass.

  • there is no reason to hold down any valves at that high up will do nothing

  • yeah it does its only a G#

  • depending where the notes fits well up there

  • has anyone ever heard of intonation....it still depends on valve combonations.....for instance i can play high d open, or first, or first and third its all the same note but depending on the player and the horn as to which one is in tune.....same thing will all notes in the upper register

  • Thank you.

  • i've seen better... Like me Boo yah.

  • Better than Leevil????? WHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Dream on buddy....All I have to say is STEP UP!!!! My money is on Leevil....

  • Sad but True. We had a trump off and I took his shiny Trumpet made of Gold. Still hanging on my wall till this day.. And thats the story of How I became the best.

  • Hey,

Are you tonguing against your lips by any chancce?

Because your attack is quite blatty in my opinion and could do with some work.

    Other wise, good chops.

  • Wow, I thought I was out in the wild west there for a minute, good job

  • wow, nice chops!

  • You do play this trumpet!GREAT!

  • great!

  • It's always fun to go back to school and make the trumpet players look bad....Last time I went to a b-ball game and played with the band the whole band stopped playing when they heard me start improvising....the band director freaked out...I guess they weren't use to hearing a trumpet player, because I sure couldn't hear the ones they had...

  • thats funny

  • @stumpmtsr and sad...Don't be the loser guy that goes back to his high school for validation..

  • @kidfromredbank Don't need validation.....their first trumpet player was out and the band director was a friend and asked if I could help out. What's wrong with that? I don't need validation just to rock a high school gym....that's just for the fun of it!!!!

  • @stumpmtsr Wow dude you're pretty cool.

  • @stumpmtsr Yessr... there is no school like the old school... teach 'dem young bucks somethin'.....lol

  • @stumpmtsr i had the exact same experience when i went to a basketball game at my high school, i was louder than the entire band and i was barely trying.

  • Jesus christ! Haha damn man that's ridiculous five stars on that nicee.
