if you watch a Hollywood movie, the whole film dosent have DOF, these adapters will make the entire film blerr, this reason for DOF is to do a rack shot to introduce and show something in the back ground as part of the story, thats it! dont understand why people waste there money on these adapters that are useless under low light
So I noticed that there is a speck of something in the upper right of most of the shots.....is that on the lense, or is that a result of the non-vibrating adapter?
im going to buy the ST when i get the money. it seems to make the video look a lot more professional, although the vignette you have takes away from it a bit. i guess ill have to get the achromat or whatever.
Hey man good looking shots, you've chosen great angles. We too got ourselves a Jag st also, with a 1.4 Canon FD and just recently shot a music video. You can check it out. It's the one called "Girl, you had two pee pees"
Looks DECE I am thinking of buying one... I have a Sony hdr xr520v and I am planning on getting the student bundle with the JagST and the cannon 50mm f1.8 lens.
@Fantasmo81 - Well, the depth of field is the area of the frame that is in focus, so yes, you can "move", so to speak, the depth of field by moving the focus ring on the lens.
the chromatic abberation is probly due to the lack of an achromatt. the jag35st doesnt ship with one. without an achromat chromatic aberation is alot worse, and it also helps with vignetting which is obviously a big problem in this video
Love it, lot of fun to play with and you can get some great footage from it. Its obviously got a lot of limitations but its so cheap.
Main issue is that you have to zoom in about 4x to get rid of the vigette and then its hard to go handheld with out getting shanky cam ;-) So tripod is pretty helpful there. Also the fact the image is flips makes it hard to go handheld and frame the shoot - worth getting Jag35 to add the swtich to your cam to rid the image display.
did you order an achromatt with the jag35st? it comes without one and you should def buy one from their website. the Achromatt really helps with vignetting so you dont have to zoom in a ton,

This is the cheapest one for 99 $, right?
Can you turn the ring on the lens to "move" the depth of field or is this only possible with big movie cams?

I notice a lot of chromatic aberration and the video is very dark. Is there something you can do to correct this?
wondnaereh 2 years ago
good lighting is the way to correct it.

Was it very sunny out during your filming of this, or was it gloomy?

Worth getting one for sure!

aahh thx for the input bro. I'm still trying to decide between this one or the more expensive encinema 35mm adapter.
