  • Yep. I wore out the cassette of this track out thoroughly. This is an example of a cover track that rivals the original, -or at least brings it into an equal but different light.

...too bad the pet Shop Boys are going to go to hell because they are gay. I hope Satan like disco synthpop...

    i kid.

  • the music have not sex... pet shop boys N 1

  • lol at him under me

  • The only version that I can listen to "Can't Take Off My Eyes Off of You"...all others are so insipid, so superficial...

  • What a phenomenal version of this song!! They really added another dimension to this amazing U2 song.

  • It has it's moments. Not gonna lie. I have a heard better covers.

  • Is this really 19 year ago? I remember 1991 and looking back to 1972 it looked ancient. this looks new still.

  • The Pet Shop boys made this song famous long before U2 was even around....

  • @richierichnumber1 No dumbass, they covered it. U2's came out first, on thier album The Joshua Tree

  • Fuc U punk

  • @richierichnumber1 Great response there, buddy. Since you can't seem to even spell obscenities right, or the word "you" for that matter, I'll just assume you're mentally retarded and end this conversation, it isn't right to pick on people with disabilities.

  • @GlenMuse795 suck my dick

  • @GlenMuse795 Well, at least you spelled all the words right this time. Baby steps, you know? See you around, fucktard.

  • What a misguided dog of an idea this was!!!

Why don't they just show them pissing on a U2 album? It would have the same effect.

Thank you and good night :-)

  • @deepmind You don't get it, do you. They are both 'taking the piss' and paying homage.

  • This is THE 1ST TIME I'VE HEARD THIS SONG BY THE PSB - ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS - ANOTHER EXCELLENT SONG BY THE PSB. Their style and their production

of their music is 2nd to none.BUT,more importantly is the SOUL of HIS VOICE-EVERY SONG HE SINGS,THE FEELING OF THAT VOICE MAKES ME WANT TO CRY SOMETIMES - ESPECIALLY THIS ONE.

  • wat the fuck is this

  • How could one listen to this and not feel just a tiny little bit better inside? So uplifting

  • who gives a shit if they're gay? this music sucks anyway.

  • I could let this junk ruin a great song but I'm not. This is horrible.

  • @stevenbondude well you're an idiot!

  • @stevenbondude If its horrible then why do you even bother to comment on this video? is your life really that boring??

  • @dondocooperstein I followed a link. I bother to comment because it ruined a perfectly good song.

  • im not gay ,but i love pet shop boys, their music is bad ass,so beat it.

  • In addition to being the greatest band in history they are unbelievably talented when it comes to remixing and covering other bands tunes. The are true artists.

  • wow this is some bad shit

  • 1.21 jigowatts

  • You should hear DJ Susan Morabito's dance mix of this song during one of her Circuit parties it's AMAZING..!!

  • @jorgenyc5 .........SUSAN IS FABULOUS, ANYWHERE SHE PLAYINGS

  • @mx5alive THAT'S RIGHT...!!

  • Not a true cover. Love the Frankie Valli song thrown in there.

  • gay's are naturally artist,this is a perfect example!

  • gay's are naturally artist,this is a perfect example!

  • essa música é perfeita! eles são os reis da música eletrônica. Grande Neil.

  • this is such a wonderful song!!!!!

pet shop boys will always be my favorite!!!

  • my favorite song by PSB at the moment

  • You all need to stop over analyzing this video. The pet shop boys are good at what they did. Who cares if they are gay. You either like it or you don't. However, this rendition of a U2 classic is juts flat out stupid. Never should have been done. It is seriously not even worth discussing which is why I am dissapointed in myself for even commenting on it. Pet shop boys should be remembered for their original work, not this abortion of a remake

  • @uno81 You realize this is a pisstake, right? Look at the contradiction between the video and the words to the song...not mention the brief "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" interlude. They are mocking the original song.

  • @vokye A SAMPLE OR mix of "Always on my Mind" is meant to be there but not to mock.

  • It just oozes eighties, doesn't it?

  • Why is it that when The Pet Shop Boys get a hold of a song they perfect it. I wanna sing this song in karaoke! And it's still unavailable! . . . . .DAM IT!!!

  • good but definitely not an improvement on u2s original version. doesnt have the sound that the edge guitar creates

  • I agree.

  • needs moar Frankie Valli

  • bono on helium

  • @footboller18 You are an idiot:)

  • @footboller18 hysterical! Not only are you misguided, you're also unoriginal and LATE oh so LATE!

  • i love you baby and if its quite alright i need you baby tomorrow late night so let me love you baby let me love you... THE BEST PART!!!!

  • 我愛

  • Simply perfect! Just sit back and enjoy!

  • glam!!!

  • Cool version!!!

  • They don't make music like this anymore what a shame

  • What a f**king AWESOME video!

  • nothing compared to the original

  • Well this is the Pet shop boys so what do you expect people?

  • @pokabeb

An awesome cover improving the original song, and a great video, that's what I expect from the Pet Shop Boys!

  • This is the sole positive repercussion of U2

  • superior

  • for all those homophobic twats out there, i'm not gay but i still like the Pet Shop Boys, you don't have to be gay to like their music, you have to shag men up the arse to be a gay so shut it

  • hey i just like techno

  • @HalfEatenNugget I agree, shut the fuck up. What a great synthpop band and master of 80's electronica.

  • WELL SAID !!!!!!!

  • @HalfEatenNugget - I'm gay, and I've never done that. Mind you, I also don't much care for the Pet Shop Boys, except for a few B-sides and a handful of songs. My general coming-out/identity music, if you will, is stuff like Husker Du, the Ramones, The Dicks, etc.

  • @HalfEatenNugget Well said

  • @HalfEatenNugget oh man,I'm so disappointed at them if they're gay.

  • @siamakghh2000 Why? What does being gay have to do with their music? They are one of the best musicians in the last 25 years of the last century and they are still going strong. When you listen to Madonna, do you get womanly feelings because she is a woman?

  • @Actuallysalemslot NO BUT CERTAINLY IMPURE THOUGHTS NOW LETS ALL GOTO CONFESSION

  • @Actuallysalemslot - you maybe a little right ,but ... you know.

  • @HalfEatenNugget you have to shag men up the arse to be a gay < I know you didn't mean that. Not all gay men like sodomy (I know many folks find this hard to believe)

  • well you must be a closet gay because if you think its so gay why where ya looking at the video you clown.........ahahahahah your secret is out im gonna tell everyone

  • I love this mashed up song!! Great feel, sexiness and emotion...and dancability is 10+++++

  • I keep seeing obama everywhere....

  • Not a bad thing!

  • I have always hated this version.

  • man this is so great. absolutely gorgeous.

  • That cowgirl looks like Jennifer Garner, who is she?

  • Some "Unforgettable Fire" video references (or direct cuts) there.

  • well that was different.

  • As far as covers go, this is UNBELIEVABLE !!! Listen to it over & over !!! But these guys are fantastic !!!

  • I agreed with rocoforce! I am straight but the gay people make the best music!!!!

  • Wow... that is a pretty fucking bigotted thing to say, believe it or not. That's like saying, "ALL ASIANS ARE GOOD AT MATH" or "ALL BLACKS ARE GREAT AT SPORTS."

  • wow what an awesome comment

  • PSB - Masters of Covers. The best techno pop band ever.

  • I have always loved them, but were they gay?

  • as a Jay Bird

  • why? why would it matter? gay or straight, people are people and should all be treated equal. but a simple FYI: gay people make the best music... that's why all the straight people try and find a reason to go to the "gay bar"

  • What an insinuation! What made you think that? "were" is the wrong tense - they very much "are".

  • Neil Tennant is, Chris Lowe isn't. Get over it.

  • one of them officially came out in the 90's, but the other refuses to say.

  • Chris Lowe is NOT gay. Neil Tennant is.

  • Does it matter if they're gay or not? They make great music, and that's all I care about.

  • oh man,I'm so disappointed at them if they're gay.

  • oh man,I'm so disappointed at them if they're gay.

  • this great great song

  • Fuckin loved it,Neil is soooooo beatiful here....damn it

  • The purpose of a cover, at the heart, is to pay homage and show respect for the original.. This version by the brilliant PSB, does just that in a manner not usually heard. Taking a fantastic song, spinning it in an entirely different style, melding it with another song - all the while staying true to the PSB formula - amazing. Same goes for their cover of Always on my mind. U2 should be very pleased.

  • They are so genius, you go Boys.....

    I looooooved it.....

  • Well first off I would personally like to say PSB has been out of the mainstream for awhile. They are still brilliant even after twenty years, but their success was mostly found in the eighties.

Secondly, everyone has a right to free expression. By simply copying the song note for note you're just trying to cash in on the success of the original. The cover here was specifically made NOT to be a point for point remake. In fact this version was a medley of two different songs.

  • Why don't these guys sound exactly like U2? I want covers that are complete emulations of the original! I'm offended! I hate musicians that experiment. What business does an artist have experimenting?

  • U2 is bad to begin with.

  • fuck you...animal whitout brain....this songs dont like you..its your problem...but everybody is not a asshole

    dumbass

  • Adoráveis!!!!

  • oh si

    oh yhea

    i want ti reach out

    u2 rules

    but pet guides

  • that's a great cover but the emotion from this song when it's played by U2 can't be beaten. the voice, the guitar.. psb, love you guys but, sorry. :)

  • Damn. beautiful video. great song. Love PSB and u2.

  • im a huge u2 fan and this cover is amazingly good

  • This is a great cover.

  • u2 fan and i fkn love this version top notch

  • Pet Shop Boys version is the best...upbeat with tempo

    U2 sucks.....

  • I heard U2 sent a fax to the Pet Shop Boys saying "What have we done to deserve this?" when they first heard this remix :)

  • LOL. Hope they meant that in a good way.

  • I think the negative thumb is not seeing that they meant it in a good way. Its no secret that this is one of the best covers of all time.

  • Oh please...relax people. It's only a song and U2 are just humans...not godlike figures. They hardly re-invented the wheel musicaly and the lyrics are not sacred scriptures. It's a fun cover...that's all.

  • thanks, dutchland4ever you made this whole thing even funnier :-)

  • This version just goes to show how bland U2 are. Musically, the Petshop Boys are so far ahead of U2 its not funny. U2 are the most overrated band in the world and there music sucks big time.

  • U2 are so bad

  • U2 are not bad, you just have a foul taste in music.

Go listen to your Polly Pocket sound track, douche.

  • Fantastic (old) song - fantastic group!

What More can I say? x

  • Comment removed

  • surely this version is inarguably better because it's significantly more gay

  • Good Try,But U2 Can't Be Beaten

  • 'what have we done to deserve this?' - Bono

Bono should be honoured to have a cover so good as this.

  • I'd say U2 were impressed

  • I like this song, but the U2 version is much better and is the original.

  • this is much better, U2 writing songs pap,. listen to these two idiots with their digital sounds, U2 version would be better version in skiffle version

  • which proves my theory that u2 has a time machine....

  • better than U2's original.

  • Indeed, by far.

  • I'm not a pet shop boys fan, but have to admit, this is a class version

  • Can any one tell me what year this version came out..? I seem to remember hearing it in '91. Didn't like it originally but grew to love it. Love the video too... that girl is is gorgeous!!

  • 1991.

  • thought so, great memories. Thanks Profglavin.

  • Brilliant PSB! You are great!

  • Perfect cover (better tahn U2)!

  • Where the streets have no name = Mannheim :)

  • Please somebody answer the name of the girl who appears in the first minute of this video! Thanks

  • I've been a massive fan of the pet shop boys ever since I was little and although I heard this version first, Id have to say I'm torn between which version is better because I like both of them.

GO THE PET SHOP BOYS! :)

  • whats with the homophoibe comment? why are you here if they are as you say (gay) ive been a fan since 1986...when one hears a dance beat..one doesnt question its sexuality..one just dances if the music is good..when a person questions some one elses sexuality and comments then they must comment on thier own since they gave that little bit of thier time to be obvious..PSB is one of my all time favorote bands..they are still together doing legitimate music even in 2009, a fan till the end i am

    D

  • very well put. one of the gay dance clubs in Cincinnati played this as they were going into after hours and I thought the roof was going to come off. I love U2 also.

  • I thought Simon Leis banned all things gay in Cincinnati back in the early 90s?

  • They hit the U2 nail on the head. Bono was pissed when this was released.

  • homophobic prick! anyway, I agree that U2 rulz this one, but still interesting

  • i love this song

  • What is your first language? Your English is alarmingly tainted with poor grammar and excessive homophobia. Have you heard the excellent duet that the Pet Shop Boys did with Kylie Minogue? In Denial is the name!
