  • These guys are gonna play before the Sporting KC vs. Chicago Fire MLS game on Thursday June 9th, 2011

  • holy shit, i know that guy..

  • Hey, this is actually a live performance! I didn't know that was still allowed on US prime time TV...

  • wait till ya'll hear whale fight...just wait.

  • just listen to them, awesome!! I'm from KC, they are really the shit!!

  • I'm from KC and this band is amazing!!!! Listen to them all over the country!!

  • Record Bar. :)

  • isnt this song in tiger woods 09

  • Great song, pretty bad performance imo. His voice seems kinda shaky and off. Nervous maybe.

  • They sound find to me. The singer looks kind of goofy.

  • agree they are a good band but this performance sounds awful

  • @jessem131 they have never sounded any different....they are everything that is wrong with the KC music scene.

  • @brian4480

i hear that, man. i can't remember the last time a kc homegrown caught my attention. these guys are just riding radiohead's coattails like every third band out there these days.

  • @theplainsman6 really? radiohead? these guys are alright, but I wouldn't compare them to radiohead, if anything they take their cues from 'the shins.'

  • @wooofums as much as i hate these guys they have been around for alot longer then the shins.

  • @brian4480 ? I always thought the majority of KC bands took after the sound that 'shiner' made. This is the first KC band I've heard that sounds so different. Also, I always thought the KC scene had some of the best bands around that no one ever heard of.

  • @wooofums and you wont hear from them unless they will fuck Jeroneys big fat ass.

  • I think that this song = freaking incredible.

My heart pumps indie music, and I needed blood. This saved my life. (=

  • Ryan Pinkston is awesome. He's from my hometown, my roommate at college has been friends with him since they were little.

  • u from kc?

  • :( They are not good live...I love! love! the song! but this live show was bad....

  • disagree! I saw them live awhile ago and it was really good. nice guys too.

  • Maybe this was just a bad show, because this show did not sound good.

  • i love them. im so proud to say their from kc mo.

  • 96.5 buzz blew them up man

  • agreed. they were sweeet at buzz beach ball.

  • i agree completely. thanks to ofentra and lazlo

  • He looks a little like Eddie Vedder....

  • Luv y'all!!!! Come to Omaha soon!!!

  • Saw their concert last night in Oklahoma... got a picture with Ryan. :D

  • Tiger woods 2009!

  • the instrumental version is in tiger 09.

  • These guys are talented.

  • love this song!

  • This performance does them no justice at all. It was too soon for them to be on Letterman in my opinion... I saw them recently and they're performance is way more polished than this Letterman performance.

  • When Letterman invites you, you go. You don't reschedule and you don't give excuses. These guys are the best band in the country right now and when they go back they'll take over the music industry and they'll have their first Letterman performance to thank!

  • I totally disagree with you on the statement "they'll have their first Letterman performance to thank"... their Letterman performance was poor and had I not been a fan already I would have been less than impressed. I do agree that they are one of the best bands out now, but they can thank hard work and touring for that, not Letterman... he has nothing to do with it at all.

  • haha thats awesome. i am from a town called republic in washington! and our mascott is the tigers.. so i guess theres more than one !

  • good song....nice voice...

  • nice song , nice voice !!!

  • I saw them when they toured with Travis and they were one of the best opening acts I've seen.

    They made me a fan.

  • They went to Republic High School in Republic, MO. That's where they got their name from. I actually live in Republic and went to school there too and my stepdad was friends with Kenny Jankowski. So it's cool to see our little town put on the map!

  • Saw them in Denver last night--great live band! This is my fav song from them.:)

  • i also saw then in denver!!! with travis!! that was awesome!! hahah

  • I, too, am from KC and had no idea that this song which I have loved for awhile now was performed by some locals. Very cool, indeed. Lead singer seems a bit off in this performance. On the record his voice is a bit more haunting and controlled. Seems nervous here, maybe?

  • I think he was so nervous his voice was shaking. I don't blame him, I would've too lol

  • They're from KC? Wow, didn't know that. Born there, live half assed out of the city limits though. :P Still an incredible band.

  • Damn, they make me proud to be a kansas citian!

  • Enter the Rockville CA You Are on The List! Sweepstakes to win a trip for you and a friend to see Travis and The Republic Tigers perform LIVE in Los Angeles! Submit your entry today @ rockvilleca(dot)com/sweeps. Entry deadline is March 27, 2009.

  • As somebody born and raised in KC I have to echo the sentiments about these guys. I had no clue they were from KC at first. I love Kansas City, but nothing about it makes me think of music like this. I wish there were more bands around town that sounded like these guys. Great song!

  • there is a pretty good music scene here in town

check out the ACBs, AUDIOVOX, The Noise FM, ha ha tonka, the abracadabras... all good kc bands

  • if u don't know why its called a cow town then u are a dumb ass, i have lived in kc all my life and i have never seen a cow, it gets the name cow town b/c of the food.

  • I could be wrong, but i thought it was called cowtown b/c it used to be a major sale/trade post for cattle back in the day? doesnt really matter though, KC-FTW

  • I think it does kind of matter that mufa would call someone a dumb ass and then be wrong themselves, it is because it was a major trade post, especially since they are from kc. I too am from KC and am proud this band is making a name for themselves and hopefully opening some people's eyes to what KC has to offer.

  • sorry bud but the reason kc is called a cow town is because they use to have a bunch of cattle come through kc and they had land they would put them which is now west bottoms. get your facts straight

  • Awesome band--I LOVE this song! Catch The Republic Tigers in featured in the upcoming original online series "Rockville, CA"--sneak preview up now at rockvilleca(dot)com.

  • Just saw them last night at the beaumont club in Westport. They were awesome. Buildings and Mountains was perfect.

  • Gonna see these guys at SXSW for the Digg event. Hells yeah

  • Trying to find the official video or radio version of this song, please help, seeing only links to live versions, none compare with how great this sounds on the radio. They even have the making of the music video but OMG no link to the it! Thanks in advance.

  • This live performance is much better than the Music Video they put out, which got taken down from YouTube recently by WMG (major label.). All they did was drag a rowboat through a deserted dry (Nevada?) landscape throughout the whole video. WMG and other record labels are buying new and old groups' performances and songs, I have noticed. Sometimes the songs and videos pop up again under their auspices, sometimes not.

  • If anybody wants a mp3 of the radio version of either:

''Buildings and mountains'' - heard in this video

or '' The nerve'' which is also amazing just send me a note here on you tube and I'll get it to you soon.

  • i'm from kansas city and the first time i heard this song i had no idea they were from kc. I love the song though.

  • sweeet band. it's so stupid though they're from kc and their tour has like 10 cities on it and st. louis isn't on their :P

  • so, my cousin loves this band forever i've always kinda said "yeah ok". i actually listened to them and i love it. i can't believe they're from KC!!

  • Why are you surprised they are from KC-- it is a large metropolis; you act as if it is some kind of small hick town; I'm guessing you've never been there before.

  • Well, I live there. It is not a large metropolis, but I guess that is subjective. Lets say it is a large metro. For a large metro it is a hick town and I can't stand it. They call it Cowtown.

  • O my God, I just found out about this band on a podcast, Ive been missing out on a lot, these guys are the shit

  • justin tricomi is my cousin

  • lucky

  • nice record bar shirt

  • I MET RYAN PINKSTON!!!!!!! one of the band members was friends with my brother and he was in my house!!!!

  • love the recordBar T-shirt great place to catch a show in KC

  • ok i do have to afmit i like their album recording, but it looked like the singer was pretty nervous there and near halfway the guitar gets messed up. i can tell they havnt preformed alot, but this band has great potential... Keep it up guys!

  • Well said.... besides admit.

  • yup.... afmit isnt a word.

  • well i must say i love the recording i got from iTunes, but it sounds as though they were very nervous on Letterman because the vocals don't sound nearly as good as they do in the recording...

  • this is the first inspiring song i've heard in a long time

  • Damn, that's great and very original. Not sure why anyone is knocking the vocals...it's right on...thanks something fresh. I bought the LP on iTunes at the suggestion of a friend...and after hearing it three times I am hooked and can't put it down.

  • I dont think anyone is knocking his vocals...They are just stating that it doesn't sound as good as it did in the recording...and also, they are attributing the wavering in his voice to nervousness, which is totally understandable...GO KC!

  • Well done, boys!! I'm a fan!!

  • i love this song but his voice almost makes him sound nevous or somethin. But they rock!!

  • Wow wtf, was he drunk? High? This makes my ears bleed. And I sincerely loooove the album recording. This is FAIL.

  • Kenn generally keeps his mic lower so he can sing louder, he was holding back, hence the differnce in his vocals.

  • Damn I like these guys - I got the free itunes song then bought the whole CD, and man is it good...Im on the bandwagon

  • wow, they sound brutal live. Good song though.

  • Some seriously good music comes out of KC, it just doesn't get the reconition as a hot spot for indie bands. Boo.

  • The singer is wearing a record bar tshirt- which is one of the best places in KC to see live local music (the brick is badass, too).

  • they are great bunch of guys!iheard them live a month before the letterman show.this is a great band! great music sure to become legend.

  • This is the start of a grand love affair!

  • This Letterman ep was only just shown in Australia, bringing me to here. Sounds like RT has a great future!

  • I got these guys to OPEN for a band at my high school (it wasn't a high school band, it was tally hall) just a month a go. They are really good. And thereaplusone your right about the singer holding his voice back, he has a better range then that.

  • I was at that concert. it was awsome

  • i just discovered this band thru itunes and i think they are amazing! Golden Sand is the best song

  • Awesome!

  • they are great!

  • u can judge a bands quality by theyre live performance, and this was a great performance

  • Quality job.

  • Fantastic! Seems like you guys were a little nervous for this one. Oh and where's Marc anyway?

  • What do you expect its Letterman!!! :P I'd be shidding myself too!! LOL.. That episode was my first to hear them and I enjoyed it VERY much!! Brings me back to the 80's...

  • agreed! I haven't got excited about a new band in a long time. There is a lot of garbage music being put out these days. This is great stuff.

  • HA! For a lack of a better word theres nothing but "garbage" out there! what has this world come to?! This episode came on again on Thursday night (re-run) STILL kick a#$

  • Kenn was trying to hold his voice back it seemed, they had his mic to high, Marc was back by the drums on the right.

  • Thank you!

    I looooooove this song!

I was waiting for a clear live version

  • they where awsome last night the Republic Tigers are one of the hottest band out there now. Good job Justin proud of you cuz.

  • I hate it when soundguys put the vocals so upfront. I've been screwed like that so many times! Don't worry about it. And they made you shorten the song! There's about a minute missing - but that is the price to get on NATIONAL TV. Republic Tigers are the best band. Nothing can stop 'em now!!!!!!!
