  • Cool

  • @Blacklamass Thanks!

  • great job havent heard this in years, but it,s recently playing in a target commericial

  • nice cover

  • This was one of the first videos I ever watched on YouTube way back when. I only just remembered it today. It's an awesome cover, man. It's rare to achieve a perfect mix of great singing, great guitar sound/arrangement, and an amazing classic song. It all works together so well. If you like the Quo song "Rain" I think you could do a good version of that as well. - Peace!

  • @GuitarGuy5000000000 You're very kind. I strive to be equally good at guitar and singing. I'm not familiar with Rain but I'll have to check it out.

  • It was a pleasant surprise for me to find an obscure song such as this as I looked at your channel! Quo were good for a period of time until they learned 12 bar laziness.

  • @McDjB1 In the US this was a huge hit—not obscure at all. For a host of US teenage boys in the sixties, this was the first song they learned on electric guitar.

  • Awesome cover. I've never been a fan of quo but this song is up there with the best. It's pure acid rock and you've done it justice!

  • @MrJimmer54321 Thanks! I didn't even know there WERE fans of Quo, or that they were still playing, until I posted this video. They were a "one hit wonder" in the USA.

  • @GibsonAndVega One hit wonders ??? Quo are one of Britains longest running bands and still touring. Awesome band and can still fill halls 40 year on :-)

Take care mate and nice cover by the way.

  • fantastic ! love it !!

  • the intro was played wrong

  • @TheMoosh7895 I like to think I played it the way Francis Rossi might have if he played guitar as well as I do. :)

  • Cool

  • that was quite good.

  • @DC950 Thanks, I'm proud of this one.

  • nice music.....great work :)

  • @JIllianne1690 Thanks.

  • Quo acid rock? I really don't think so!

  • @rpmi At the time, they certainly were part of the "psychedelic" rock genre. I'm aware that they changed styles a couple of years later.

  • great video!

  • Very impressed man. Been trying to learn this song for a while and my version sounds shit. I'd like to see you play closer to the camera to see the notes your hitting. Excellent job

  • I surely expected to be disappointed by a solo of this....I was ready to tax it ..I watched it all, and liked it more than a couple of bands did it.....Nice job.

  • Attempting solo versions of songs that seem unlikely to work solo is a specialty of mine. I'm glad you think this one worked!

  • Yup, very good indeed :o)

  • whats ur name

    r u in a band called savannah

  • No, I'm not in a band—I was in bands for many years, but now I perform solo. Do you mean the Canadian metal band called Savannah?

  • The first two strings are tuned to the same pitch, D in your case. It makes a whole world of difference

  • Do you mean that Status Quo plays it tuned that way? My guitar is tuned D-G-C-F-A-D.

  • Yeah, Rossi tunes his B string to the same pitch as his E to get like a doubling effect.

  • please teach me how to play this song make a lesson video

  • Great job my friend. Sound great. Nice guitar..

  • Thanks. Yeah, I love that guitar. No one else has that sound.

  • Great Cover, very Good!!!

  • Thanks for listening!

  • i funny shade i fink it is kind ov yellow

  • Yeah, I think you're right.

  • Brilliant, excellent recording! Great vocals as well!

  • Thanks for visiting.

  • Very good, I loved it. How do you have your guitar tuned? It doesn't sound 440, thanks

  • It's tuned one step below standard: D G C F A D

  • Nicely done rendition, very full sound. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks, I spent some time experimenting to get a sound I liked for this. I ended up using three different amplifiers together.

  • good playin and pretty good vocals too

  • You are very talented. Great rendition of this favorite.

  • Thanks, and thank you for sharing your wonderful record collection!

  • I actually like this! I wish I could accompany you with a wah-wah and lead guitar!

Thanks for sharing this on YouTube!

  • When I saw your user name, I thought maybe I'd gotten a comment from the singer Daniel Taylor, but I guess you're famous enough that I'm still flattered! Actually, it's both flattering and amusing that a recording engineer likes my absolutely no-tech production of this! Feel free to rip this if you'd like to add some wah guitar. ;^)

  • G&V,

I know how to compromise with the available equipment in use. I can say the song is very full sounding with just guitar and vocal.

You have the feel or groove for the song indeed.

    Status Quo would be proud.

  • I keep coming back for a listen. Great version. Great guitar.

  • What kind of guitar is that you play in these? It's got a great biting tone, whether acoustic or amplified.

  • The guitar is a Vega E202 (1949?). The original pickups are gone--I've installed a D'Armond floating pickup and a Fishman bridge pickup. It's plugged into a Crate Gunnison amp with the doubler effect on and a Gorilla GG 110 amp with the Tube Stack effect and lots of reverb on.

  • you suck

    you are playing it wrong

and stop singing its bad enough

the world doesn't need any more crappy musicians

    so just stop

  • if I'm a good boy this year can u ask santa to put your guitar under my tree? :P

  • I don't know if Santa can find one, but I've seen them on Ebay occasionally, although they are rare. The D'Armond pickup would be harder to find.

  • Status Quo, yes, yes... But with such a voice and a guitar play, N.Young is not so far...

    Keep on

    BeBop352

  • Did you listen to my Neil Young song? I have a video of "Powderfinger" posted.

  • Not yet, I just discover you two hours ago.

And all this great guitars... I like the sound of your voice.

    Real Great Job.

By the wau : You have to see my blog. Search BeBop352 on Google. And you'll see.

  • Excellent!

  • great!

  • Thats cool.

    Liked that version. :)

  • good shit..

  • Excellent job on this awesome song! That guitar sounds great, and you have a really good voice. I'm curious though, did you play a different chord progression than DFCG for the first verse? It sounds a bit different than usual, but I could just be hearing it wrong.

  • I'm playing the standard chords, but they are in a different inversion than usual because of my low tuning (D G C F A D).

  • Ah, ok thanks, I didn't realize you drop-tuned it.

  • Wow. Great seeing an American cover of the Quo, a great Brit Band. Didn't know they were that well known over the water.

    Try Gerdundula or 'Rain'.

  • Sweet tribute to a phenominal piece of psychedelia. Thanks for the love you put into it! Dave from Philly

  • Very nice playing and voice. Where is the wah-wha pedal effects!

  • If you demand wah, listen to sushiman867's version.

  • nice effects...way to make a classic your own!

  • Nice Job Man!! Cool guitar.

  • what guitar is that,it sounds great!

  • See below.

  • cheers nice guitar.

  • nice cover version, like the riff on the guitar.

  • Thank you. I tried to come up with something interesting to do with the riff for solo guitar--I think this works pretty well.

  • wow! :D amazing!!!

  • Very nice guitar sound. Kudos on singing too!

  • Nice, what kind of guitar are you playing in the video?

  • The guitar is a Vega E202 (1949?). The original pickups are gone--I've installed a D'Armond floating pickup and a Fishman bridge pickup. It's plugged into a Crate Gunnison amp with the doubler effect on and a Gorilla GG 110 amp with the Tube Stack effect and lots of reverb on.

  • Jeesus!.... man! why dont you tune that guitar.

  • Absolutely ace!

  • Whow!! I thought : this is gonna be crap but it isn't bad at all... and your singing is also good and especially 1:27 till 1:32... Keep up the good work!!

  • Thanks. This is my most popular video so far--I'm not sure what I can do to top it!

  • Hey, that's a fantastic job ! This is the first song I learned to play on guitar, always loved it.

  • There must be millions of guitarists my age who played either this song or "Little Black Egg" the first time they picked up a guitar!

  • I did! And I still do! Not to forget Sunshine of Your Love! I had a Radio Shack Realistic Geetar too! Fun song!

  • Superb effort! I'm amazed how you are able to recreate the 'phasing' sound effect from just on your guitar! Well done.

  • i have to admit that you play well and great singing you sound a true quo fan

  • i made another video

  • very nice... anyone know where i can see a video of the actual band playing it?

    peace

  • raptorx8 has a video posted of Status Quo doing this song on a British TV show.

  • dude your gd,rock on

  • Very Very nice. I liked the vocals a lot.

  • Thanks. I put a window fan in front of my PA speaker to get that "tremelo" effect on the vocal.

  • Haha clever plan dude. It works a treat.

  • wow your awesome

  • SHIT your good how long you been playing?

you should make a myspace if you dont have one =]

  • I've been playing about 35 years. You're right, I should make a myspace site--most musicians I know have one now and it's a good marketing tool.

  • sick dude

  • Thanks for that. It has a really good sound. Congrats on a great video.

  • What guitar are you using ?

  • The guitar is a Vega E202 (1949?). The original pickups are gone--I've installed a D'Armond floating pickup and a Fishman bridge pickup. It's plugged into a Crate Gunnison amp with the doubler effect on and a Gorilla GG 110 amp with the Tube Stack effect and lots of reverb on.

  • wow!! that's really good :O

    you've got a good voice :)

  • Hey, everyone check out sushiman867's version. He got WAH.

  • nice, but theres no wah.

  • I knew someone would bring that up.

  • can you play more of status song. please put them up on you tube :)

  • This is the only one I've heard—I'm not a Status Quo fan, I just remember this song from my childhood. In fact, until I posted this, I had no idea there WERE Status Quo fans or that they were still playing. In the States, they were a "one-hit wonder" with this song.

  • Good job man

  • WOW! Excellent solo job on the 1968 hit. What a fantastic sounding guitar. I'll be looking out for the next video.
