  • @mrigor1107 If you are crashing just as a device nearby sucks juice, I'd say a UPS is just what you need. And be wary: when the system shuts off incorrectly, bad data can be written to the drive, so be sure to verify the integrity consistently, else the bad data can even be copied to other addresses, which can ruin your day. :-) Good luck!

  • hey m8!:DD

I have the same problem ...I ve run Traktor Scrtach Pro on win7 32bit sp-1....everything goes but power problem is allways there...it stop working when some of an electric device tuen on automaticlly like icemaker,or other device...my card stop working...so my question is ...

If i conect UPS in my system ...will I solove the problem and have stabil electicity

  • torque is for girls u cant afford serrato haha!!! u u fag scratch has no defects u fagg!!!

  • Hello there.I just bought torq Connectiv and I have a problem with my turnables which are the CDI-500 by American Audio. The problem is that I can't do any loop or filter or others effects from my cd-players.If there is any1 that could help I would be appreciate.Thanks.

  • hey mate, i'm djing for a friends 21st next weekend and im practicing my set at home and torq le keeps crashing! only started happening this week and i've been using torq le all year? WTF?!

I'll be using a mac to mix.

My setup will be connecting the x session pro into the mac book, then that into the mixer and dj equipment at the venue, would that work ok for cueing etc?

  • Ive run torq for 4 years. I used to be frustrated with it at first but with a little research and fine tuning, its still the best right now feature for feature. That may change soon with other programs and updates, but I utilize all the features and my dj buddies ask me how im able rock it like that. I use 1210 mk5s and love it. Im sticking with it til something new comes along.

  • Question for you tim.. how to get Torq and Connectiv to work with a MacBookPro... mine has a Mac OS X V 10.6.3 / 2.53Ghz / 4GB Ram... and can't get it to work.. I open up the System preference and it says that Conectiv is connected but when I try to open Torq... it says. No M-Audio Hardware found.. Its so frustrating... Everything worked perfectly with my Windows XP system with much lower specs.. can you help me out?... any advise can help.. thanks..

  • there is a simple solution to problems with torq, put it in the bin-its a piece of crap. had it for 2 years and have had an endless load of problems (im now running serato on the same computer and i havent had 1 problem since i got it-about 6 months) its cheap for a reason-do yourself a favour and get traktor or serato

  • THanks for the info....i had another problem tho i in stalled my torq and it's asking for a serial number do you know where i can find this number?

  • tool bag!

  • Serato destroys torq. I used it for 2 years. Just shoot me

  • can u help me. when i play the right side of deck with my torq conectiv i only get sound out of one speaker. what can be the problem

  • Well dude..nice vid..I m on a f**kn' buddget so I m only having two choices..going for Torq package or combining maya 44,some cracked VDJ and Serato TCV as cheaper but might also be as a more solid solution..but while watching ur video "how to" if I want to Torq work flawlessly,I come up with result..Torq+all those stuff u named in video+couple of euros=Serato SL...so maybe these instructions going to be valuable only for those who allready own Torq..peace!

  • hey Tim, been using torq conectiv for over a year now, working with m-audio trigger finger as a midi controller, and like you say.... its flawless. iv come across ur video and have been able to get hold of the kimber usb cable but as im in the uk cant find anything like the monpro1000 clean power model....??

  • I have connective and its shite , im moving on to serato at least its bug free

  • @mickylunch I have not had a problem since I can remember. Run flawlessly. And they just came out with an update that makes everything perfect. Update your equipment before you switch over

  • I have installed all the latest updates and i run it on a very powerful PC and it still gives problems(crazy static sounds , Power Spikes , Poor quality control vinyl) , Connective is a decent CHEAP alternative to Serato but in the long run is got to many bugs and M-Audio are very slow with updates and their customer support is crap.

  • Nice work but isn't that going a little far to get a program to play nice. Traktor and Serato dont need all this special attention. The software needs a way to make the USB hot swappable without re-starting the prog. I demonstrated this on the video response. Thanks for the info. Good Luck

  • to be honest i've had my torq conectiv for ages and once i got it all set up i've had no problems. but then again i don't DJ in clubs so i don't know if it would be versatile enough for that!

  • yo man idk if you can help me with this...but i bought torq couple weeks back..and every time i try to use my technics turntables you can hear this weird noise..i already tried changing the power threshold but you could still hear it..think you can help me out?

  • check the torq forum for this, have seen this happen before to people. make sure all your connections are good, make sure it is grounded well. Sometimes it is a feedback loop in the main power supply to make sure your connectiv is only usb powered, try a different outlet, use clean power, use a grounded power plug, and make sure you have the most up to date drivers and software for torq and connectiv

  • thanx man..another question..do you know if torq has a function. when you load up a song on either deck..to hide the track name and all its info while its playing?..ive seen that serato and trakktor have this function..was just wondering if torq did too. thanx

  • Interesting.. I believe that is not possible. You can hide the mixer for control vinyl DJs using their own mixer but I don't know about the stuff on the right. If you hid that what would there be left?

  • well i mean all you're hiding is like the title of the song...up on either right or left corner..(orange or green deck)..its usually used if you have a secret song you've made or something or a brand new release people are crazy about..so those weird people behind the dj booth dont try to look for your songs u know?..

  • @5cheesehead6

yeah its the actual sound of the vinyl hitting the needle, put yer ear close to the needle.... otherwise check the two big knobs on the connectiv

  • yea its the audio signal that connectiv reads in order to control the sound from either deck..but in my setup the signal is overwhelmingly higher than the audio signal coming from torq..=[ i hear the signal from the vinyl timecode OVER the music.

  • Thanks for this vid man, I have had crash issues whenever I go ANYWHERE outside my bedroom, even if its downstairs in the basement to rock a house party, the PPC will hopefully solve that, along with kimber cables. What are your thoughts on powered USB hubs for people using MIDI controllers like xponent, nanoKontrol, xsession?

  • i would not use a USB hub. M-Audio equipment is pretty sensitive to usb connections and I feel like using a USB hub would make the system too unreliable

  • Thanks for this info now that I'm using DVS with my xponent to control midi...it's good to know this stuff.

  • Hey TimTheDJ... nice little vid here. I think it would be nice to include a Pt. 2 that somewhat touches on tweaking Torq's internal settings that will boost Torq's reliability/performance.

  • I think I'll do that

  • Dude, you've really got to work on your terminology. USB cables, not wires. A cable like you show is designed to prevent Electromagnetic Interference, not power surges or "seepage."

Dirty vinyls/needles won't affect the "frequency", it affects the sound quality, or fidelity.

Monster brand anything is severely overpriced. I'm talking a literal 600% markup. You can get a good power conditioner for less than $60 online.

3 prong power cords do nothing for stability. It is a safety feature.

  • Hello Firey Fate and thank you for contributing to my tutorial. This is true good USB cables are important mainly to enhance conductivity thus creating a more reliable connection between the conectiv and computer.

In regards to "timecode" vinyl, dirt will affect the "frequency". Timecode vinyl consist of a 2kHz carrier frequency. Therefore small amounts of dust can create irregularities in the frequency. When the frequency goes up or down the computer mistakes it for pitch changes

  • Oh and I almost for got the three pin prong is there so "Electromagnetic interference filters and surge protectors dispose of unwanted electric charges via the ground" Therefore for us to have safe reliable power it is important to have a three pronged power cord.

And yes feel free to get any USB 'cable', power conditioner, or stand you. The ones I have mentioned i found reliable, well built, and have not ever failed me.

  • Your laptop power converter is a DC rectifier bro. Only two conductors reach your laptop. DC line and return. The earth wire is for safety, no matter what you read in Wikipedia.

And no, dirt does not affect the frequency. If you were to watch on an oscilloscope, you would see that the dirt introduces noise, not frequency change.

It helps to know a bit about the equipment in this DJing thing, and I am just trying to put out the correct info.

  • You may be correct about the earth wire, but then again safety is always nice while DJing too

Noise however is impossible to be added to a digit dj setup through the needle because it is not an analog signal. The noise created with dirt will be perceived as you doing something to the record like little scratches because it fundamental frequency will sound different to the computer and it will have in interpret it. Therefore this will mess with the speed of your song thus changing the pitch

  • I hear ya brother.. your advice is all correct..

All I'm saying that a dirty record will NOT change the carrier frequency from your record as you suggested. The frequency will not be faster, or slower because of dirt. It will be 2KHz, just not as clean sounding.

The sound from the needle is not digital. It is analog. Conectiv has ADCs (analog to digital converters) that interpret the analog sound to create digital position information.

    The end.

  • I would like to add that using Power Conditioners also help(to get to the point after watching 2:40 mins of Power Center Strip MUST MUST MUST HAVE).

Haha, great I got the UberStand too.

  • yeah does take a while to say something that could be said in one sentence... however now you understand the importance i guess.
