  • found this song from one tree hill!! :)

  • I'm listening to it because of a great American rock band.

  • Holy crap I just realized the chord progression in this song reminds me of Neil Young's "Helpless".

  • @cougher989 great song :) "blue blue windows behind the stars, yellow moon on the rise"

  • -----------> How I Met Your Mother <-----------

  • @cougher989 One Tree Hill as well

  • fuck one tree hill, that show sucks.

  • @ri394 1. I entirely disagree. 2. If it brings people together to listen to good music, why should it matter what brought them here?

  • @laurapie92 1. I entirely disagree. 2. when did i ever say anything about "bringing people together"? all i said was "fuck one tree hill, that show sucks". stop putting words in my mouth. bbbqf*ckc*ntpenilefagot.

  • One Tree Hill: The Wind That Blew My Heart Away! This episode broke my heart! ELLIE<3

  • <3

  • Dis he say "Here comes a regular, there goes a career"?

  • I'm smiling and listening ... ((:

  • My ex-husband love you Paul. He even shook ur hand at a CD signing once. He died at 41 of addiction in 2010. Our 20 yr old daughter died this past Oct from a heroin overdose. They were both beautiful ppl. Thank you for the music that I can listen to and smile, remembering them! Sadly Beautiful was her song...

  • This song caught my attention 30 years ago and still has the same effect. PW has plenty of songs as good, but his ambition is limited with being a family man. May I recommend: Answering Machine, Left of the Dial, Achin' to Be, Merry Go Round, Skyway, It Onlly You were Lonely, Waitress in the Sky, Unsatisfied, Sixteen Blue, Never mind, Alex Chilton, Portland, No Place for You, Mr Rabbit, I'm a Gas Station Attendant? That's just a sample...

  • @PatheticHero Portland my be my favorite of those. Brought to my attention by the Westerberg of my generation, Mr. John McCauley of the bands Deer Tick and Middle Brother.

  • @austinray206175 Favorite? Wow I didn't mention my favorite: Can't Hardly Wait... wait no scratch that, how about: Customer, I'm In Trouble, Lovelines, The Ledge, Skyway, Favorite Thing, Valentine, Talent Show, I Will Dare, - ah shit, they're all good.

  • @PatheticHero 30 years, really? Now I am feeling very old.

  • @pzkphw Okay my math was a bit liberal, I think it is 26 years ... "Tim" came out in 1985. Hard to believe...

  • so completley in love with this song <3

glad not everyone listens to shit music ;)

  • i dont we should be putting hearts on a mats/paul westerberg video go back to facebook

  • I'm here because of being a melancholy drunk...

  • I saw them in 1989 and Paul played the entire second half of the show lying down because he was so drunk, but it worked he sounded great. He passed Jack Daniels shots to the first row. I got to pass out the cups.

  • always been my favorite Replacements song ♥

  • @GlitcHead Unsatisfied was my favorite but this was second

  • Goosebumps.

  • Im here because of OTH <3

  • @kryzelbrymph ME TOOOO just watched that episode again :)

  • The Meadow!!! (OTH)

  • i'm here because of one tree hill <3 love this song

  • @kryzelbrymph Me too lol! I just saw that episode again today and then I had this song stuck in my head.

  • Amazing performance of a classic song.

  • Just a great performance by Paul here. Almost touches the vocal performance on the original recording

  • I wish there wasn't so much hateful comments on this song. It's a peaceful song. stop hating

  • I like the fact that it's C-based.

  • LOVE IT!

  • he looks like Thomas Jane

  • Making Minnesota proud since circa 1980.

Thanks Paul, and the rest of The Mats.

  • thank you gogd for Paul Westerberg a real life changer

  • I wish more people would comment on there love for good music instead of bashing One Tree Hill. I mean what difference does it make how someone found this song..

  • @razorbacksfan85 Amen to that. I remember getting Tim for Christmas in 1985, and it didn't leave my turntable for months.

  • Oth <3

  • reminds me of good times in the 80s <3

  • any1 listen to this because you know what it is from back in the day?

  • @e2eky1e just the mats...

  • very good..

  • I don't watch tv... I've been a fan of the replacements since '83

  • If he heard you reference his song to one tree hill he'll punch you in your tears!!

  • If he heard you reference his song to one tree hill he's punch you in your tears!!

  • His best song? Certainly one of them.... Thanks for posting that, a great performance of a beautiful song.

  • OTH ... lead me here (=

  • I don't know a hill with one tree, however I love Paul Westerberg. .. I found this through THE REPLACEMENTS. .. "Here goes a career. .."

  • i think i've contributed about 159,483 of these views

  • so if i got it right this song was a soundtrack of a series called one tree hill?? right? ok i only got one thing to say: the person responsible for the series' music is gooooood.. wow.i love this song..and i prefer this version better..

  • While I knew about this song and Westerberg and The Replacements before One Tree Hill and don't really follow the show, if its exposing others to the music why care how or why people got here? Point is they got here and they're listening to something like this. So, props to OTH.

  • It so sad that it takes a crumby show like One Tree Hill to make people listen to this song. And probably all of them dont know the feeling of this song. All they know is that it was a soundtrack to a fake plastic love scene. Alternative music is ours! So fuck off One Tree Hill! Pure feeling and emotion. Paul Westerberg is one of my favourite artists. A down to earth guy who writes down to earth music for down to earth people.

  • @Noeladishi agreed! the world needs more Westerbergs and Tweedys!!

  • @Noeladishi well said sir or madam.

  • @Noeladishi actually, this song wasn't set to a "fake plastic love scene." It was set to the death of one of the main character's birth mother. She shared a memory of this being her favorite song because of a moment in time she remembered and it was shared the last time they spoke. (I only know this because I literally just watched this exact episode on re-run). But, even a crappy show like this can have "pure feeling and emotion" if given the chance. And yes, Pail Westerberg is amazing, too.

  • How i met your mother brought me here

  • @armansinlado It was Fantasy Island for me

  • @spmrulez this song is everywhere i guess

  • @armansinlado Even though I go back a long time as a Mat's fan, Omaha! I was really impressed that HIMYM choose this song.

  • I only clicked to listen to the song as I have the same Gibson Humingbird as him, but wow, I'm blown away by this!

  • Forget the like button, where's the love one at??

  • Man...I love One Tree Hill. I am so glad that I finally start watchin it. It brought me to this damn amazing song!

  • No i'm not here because of one tree hill. I'm here because The Replacements are the greatest band ever to have played.

  • i admit One Tree Hill brought me here.i remember hearing this song, but i always over-looked it for some reason,i always knew it sounded cool, but just one of those things you know.LOL anyway,i heart this one One Tree Hill and i had a new found appreciation fo this tune,i love it,it is a great song and One Tree Hill REALLY displayed it's awesomeness,it fit the siutation on One Tree Hill perfectly too what was happening and all.One Tree Hill always has great music choices that fit just well indeed.

  • 11 people are stupid

  • Jeepers :(

  • My local pub is closing down next week. Spent virtually every Friday and Saturday there for 15 years. Can't get this song out of my head. Ironically, it's about 15 minutes from where the Mats were born.

  • Just love it

  • Any idea what tuning he's got this in? Coz the capo's on 6th fret, but when I try and follow it in standard tuning, my guitar sounds a higher pitch than Westerberg's!

Ps. Unbelievably brilliant song, by the way. Probably in my top 5 favourite songs of all time... And I might never have heard it if my friend hadn't let me borrow his Replacements album! :D

  • @minimadmickey His guitar may be detuned, but interval wise it's standard. When I play along to the record with Capo at 6 it works fine. Try placing your capo further away from the 6th fret and closer to the fifth.

  • @minimadmickey he might be tuned a bit flat, other than that its standard tuning.

  • @peacefrog1916 Cool, maybe it's MY guitar sounding a bit off then!! :D Cheers!

  • After my most recent 30 day stint in the county jail. I've finally decided not to be a regular anymore. Thanks Paul for putting into words the emotions I could never properly express.

  • this song is kinda magic

dont know..when i heard it the first time i ....just sat there in front of my computer with an open mouth...it´s really beautiful

  • @BornToBeWild555 I did the exact same thing a week ago!

  • i cried whilst listening to this song for the first time in years. it's just so beautiful

  • @GodfatherxD yep! i've never listened about this singer! =x

  • Being a sober drunk myself and growing up on the Mats...this song will always touch me "and even if your in the arms of someones baby now, ill drink a great big whiskey to ya anyways"

  • i only watched this because of one tree hill. But im glad i did <3 The music in one tree hill is great.

Haley singing, Mia singing and peyton and ellie have a great taste in music.

Anyone who hasnt watched this programme really needs to give it a go its brilliant

  • @aoifeog1 hope ur fuking kidding

  • @Eltroim DIE.

  • I'm listening to this song because of One Tree Hill. :)

    It's actually pretty.

  • The knocking on heavens door of the 80's imo.

  • PAUL YOU F-ING ROCK. I get chills every time I hear this song.

  • Young John Lenon :D

  • It's been 25 years and this song is still as strong and relevant. Sublime...

  • lol @ here goes a career

  • I miss them

  • i listen to this song because of the band not because of some stupid teeny bopper show

  • well seems like half the world knows this song cause of the OTH

frankly i dont know much if OTH sucks or rulez for others

but surely it made me listen to this song to a millions times

and i know without OTH there were slim chance i would have known this band

so give it up 4 OTH for some real music exposure.

  • what's worrying is that people connect this song to OTH which in theory there is NOTHING wrong with, OTH uses incredible music and it uses music REALLY well! but this song is so so so much more than that (hence the OTH homage to it)

  • Even if one tree hill sucks (I wouldn't know) it's awesome if kids are at least finding out about some great old music because of it

  • @j2bags mayb u shud try watchin its an awsome show with awsome music :)

  • love Paul Westerberg !!!

  • Love you Paul, forever and always!

  • just one guy with a guitar on a muddy meadow. and 30.000 people dont say a single word. everybody just feels the music. R.I.P. Ellie : /

  • Paul is a complete bastard. But he sure as hell made some good music.

  • thanks so much for sharing this, the song and the performance are just perfect

  • this rules

  • One of his best, and I really like this clip. He looks and sounds great.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • good man. great band. sad song. goodnight.

  • I love the Replacements, went to see him live and he just fell at the mic. from a drug overdose. "get your ass up a lady yelled" . Hope he kicked his habit.

  • Back to the purpose... I've played this song many a time... in just the kind of bar throughout the United States the story proclaims... not a dry eye in the place. It's so eloquently sarcastic and truthful. Sarcasm occurs on purpose... irony just happens:)

  • The first time I heard this was 1986 and I thought NO WAY! This band is from Minneapolis? Get outta here! This song is still most complete and compact expression of such a wide array of shoulda woulda coulda... all the regret, expectation, friendliness, disappointment, fear, and just about any feeling you may have experienced with those little disappointments we all experience. It is brilliant song by a brilliant artist.

  • you know for a song about barflies, this jam is awfully emotional

  • and only 3 chords

    this guy is amazing

  • I LOVE SAD MUSIC :'(

  • any1 else listnin 2 dis song coz of 1tree hill?

  • @GodfatherxD

Fuck One Tree Hill. This is not a song for plastic pretty people.

  • @garethac81

    Hey there...

I don't understand your point... I'm watching the show, cause I simply watched everything else out there. It's very entertaining. And then they play that great song. Just like Hallelujah from Scrubs or OTH. The song doesn't get worse, just because it's used in a TV show. If they would use a John Denver song in a Uwe Boll film I'd like the song, too. Even if it's kinda the worst film ever. :)

Music stays music. And this song is more than plastic....

    Peace from Germany

  • @garethac81 I'll drink to that!

  • @GodfatherxD Yes, i do.

  • @GodfatherxD you are absolutely right;)

  • @Albsenator

    :)

  • @GodfatherxD No I lizzened to it cuz I iz old skool and have been a fan since da 80s. Anyone else? I need a damn drink now...

  • @GodfatherxD Some people are just watching it because it's one of the best things to come from humanity. Not one tree hill.

  • @GodfatherxD no, i'm listening cause this dude is johnny rzeznik's idol.

  • @GodfatherxD lol everyone i know did. then they showed it to me and i'm like 'yeah i only have any album paul or the replacements ever did' so then i had to check out this one tree hill. OMG LOVE. :P

  • @GodfatherxD dashizzle dafizzle - YES! :D

  • @GodfatherxD

Yes I am, And I am oth so thankful for it :)

  • @GodfatherxD one gay hill. i would never watch that.

  • @GodfatherxD Nope.

And we were all doing just fine...

  • @GodfatherxD Idid!!!! just now!!

  • @GodfatherxD no.

  • @GodfatherxD any1 else evur lurn to spel?

  • @GodfatherxD *facepalm*.......*sigh*........ -_-

  • @GodfatherxD No I'm listening to it because of of "Tim"..

  • @jesuscat29 Haha, I know right?

  • @jesuscat29 listening that because of one tree hilll.

  • @GodfatherxD ...ugh. Anyone else listening to this song because of Paul Westerberg?

  • @McLarnan I am yeah. The man is a legend! Kurt Cobain isnt a patch on Westerberg.

  • @GodfatherxD Nope. Listening coz I like Paul Westerberg. LOL Check out his band The Replacements.

  • @GodfatherxD No. Just cause its a classic!

  • @GodfatherxD Yea xd

  • so as i'm listening to this song i look over at the tv and teachers is on and crispin glover just got shot. powerful.

  • succh a beautiful song

  • My Main Man!!! Love the guy!!

  • HIMYM :D

  • Love this, and every other goddamn song!!!!!!

  • As usual, Paul Westerberg tears your heart from your chest and shows it to you before you die.

  • whats the story behind this song?

im not very good at english someone could tell me?

  • @VnCuong93 A regular is the guy who is always in the same chair at the same bar drinking the same shit night after night...every night

  • Love this song! The album version is great too. One of the best performers I've ever seen.

  • amazing song

  • \m/ its real music not Biebers, pops and other shit, This music has soul and i listen it since I have been young, greetz for all

  • All these years later and I still can't get over how brilliant he is.

  • Still one of the best last call songs ever! He has blown me away every time I have seen him. And that's too many times to count. I miss SO Cal.

  • He's the best and this song is beautiful.

  • incredible

  • Gorgeous, flayed open to the bone. One of the country's best composers.

  • I wish I was born in the 70s.

  • I think it will take another 30 years for Paul's genius to be appreciated. Who knows it may it may take as long as it did for Shakespeare. For now simply enjoy it and spread the word.

  • Now I'm all sad.

  • ronny, dont worry about the haters...The Replacements are kinda like Hockey, you can explain how wonderful they are until you are blue in the face to people who dont know or dont care.....Just love em for being one of the best bands, (Paul songwriter) ever.

  • still my favorite song ... after 25 years.

  • Better than the Beatles? You're insane. The Beatles had two of the greatest songwriters ever. That being said- having seen the Replacements and Husker Du live- they we're the two greatest bands during the 80's.

  • @gmadison123

Why are you fighting about who is better? Music is meant to inspire and connect people, not to fight. Both the beatles and the Replacements wouldn't be glad with your comment since they understand the real message behind music.

  • this might offend some folks but i don't care, the Replacements are (were) a FAR better band than the Beatles, and Westerberg kicks the crap out of Lennon as far as solo careers go

  • So great.. so sad that the Replacements never got the accolades that they deserved. And to think, NickelBack is the biggest band in America. Too bad that the sh*t bands always make the money - and they copy all the good bands that deserve it..

  • i can't hear any rhythm ..sorry

  • ALL MUSIC SUCKS NOW! The Replacements will always rule!

  • @teers80 this is a bold statement, and an untrue one as well.

  • Best song ever written

  • Check This out on youtube: The Replacements Here Comes a Regular a cover by The Catastrophes/Paul Westerberg

  • Tears,

  • This is HANDS DOWN the BEST SONG OF ALL TIME!

  • How i met your mother

  • 2 dislikes.........are you serious?

  • just dont watch it people.

  • a song to change your life...
