Ave Maria is Latin actually, not Italian... and no this is not Latin... i'm no expert on spanish, but there are many little know 'languages' that are more like crosses between languages... not sure on spelling, but Catalan is one that i have recently experienced and it seemed like a cross between latin and spanish...
