@TerminallyILLprod14 I used FL for a long time and trust me you cant unless you sample this exact sound. FL is good to start with but its not expansive for shit man
Hey Dude, i've done exactly what you said, but absolutely no sound comes out. I have my soundcard ste and everything. i only just received program in the mail today and as soon as i installed it i began your tutorial, so i havn't stuffed around with any settings. The demo sound plays just fine. Its annoying because it makes no sense.
Hi I have some experimental Dubstep/electro on my channel made using Cubase 5 and Reason 5.... I'm trying to get some feedback so Do have a listen and comment + Free Download THANX
step by step instructions to recreate a patch are ok, but not a tutorial. Why not just make the patch available for download? If you want to be a better instructor I suggest using video to explain why you're making these decisions and how they shape the sound. On the amp envelope (a basic component of synths and included in many reason devices) just set the sustain to max, its redundant at that point to set the decay to max also.
@francois759 Francois, you need to trigger the notes with a MIDI keyboard (controller) or you can actually DRAW-IN the notes using the PIANO-ROLL in the Reason Sequencer section. Google Piano-roll and Reason Sequencer for more info. Good luck.
Nice video, reason is such a nice program. Cool that it can be linked to Cubase to so one can use both at the same time.Reason got nice presets to.Im a big fan of the subtractor. If you want to listen to some good electronic music you can check my channel and have a listen if you feel like it : )
hello i have a question! i want to know how can i access my sound libraries through thor and all of the other instruments. such as the vengeance library i have. so i can play around with those synth sounds and not just the thor patches. because everytime i try to open them with thor the folder is empty. and i can only use the thor patches!
IMO, you can get a nicer (and more widely used) yeah bass by using thor's wavetable osc, choosing the formant wave, and having an LFO automate the pos. Then run that through the scream in the same way as in the video, although it will only make the yeah sound if param 2 of the scream is at about 2 o'clock. just somethin to try :)
Thanks so much for your advice! It was EXTREMELY helpful! I couldn't get my frequency on THOR to 184 and it really throws off the sound but I have the general idea now so thank you so much for your help!
@will4morehouse Absolutely, we have classes at our location in NYC, you can sign up either on our website dubspot.com or call 212-242-2100 and speak with one of our admissions officers directly. looking forward to hearing from you!
Hey great tutorial, worked great, but i have one thing i didnt know how to do, how can i change the sound of the note, or just the note in general if i havent purchased a keyboard yet?
@comacausey13 you can use the piano roll on the sequencer (access it by pressing ctrl+e while looking at the sequencer) or if you are just playing around with the notes you can bring up a computer key keyboard by pressing F4. You can also record with the computer key keyboard.
Just to be clear, it is not necessary to touch the polyphony parameters once you have selected MONO RETRIG. Once Mono has been selected, there is no need to touch polyphony controls. Sorry, it just bothers me when people brush over things like that because it takes out a part of the education process that I think is useful. Cheers!
@SoGGi1234 Right click on an empty (the black area) part of your rack, go to the create menu if you are using Reason 4 or earlier to get to your devices list (thor etc). If you're using Reason 5 then you will only need to right click to get your devices list. However if you're using Reason Adapted you will not be able to create your own devices as it's a stripped down version of Reason, you will only be able to use the devices that are already in the rack when you open it.
Ive gotta say, ive used many reason tutorials for dubstep on youtube, and yours is by far the most understandable, aswell as best sounding i have come across! congrats yo!
@thaman667 shot in the dark but are you on the right notes in the note lane? ive had times where ive moved down a few octaves and the sound changes alot.
@thaman667 if you didnt get the sound you probably didnt do it right. just pause the video and go one step at a time. or follow the written directions in his description :)
I know this is a horrible question but im new to Mac operating systems, how to i change the low pass ladder filter more accurately? it skips right over where you said to set it too.
What synth do you use, I'm looking to buy a Axiom Pro 49, but what synth do you think is best to use with Reason 5, what do you recommend? Need help on this subject!
@iamdullusional An axiom pro 49 will work fine with Reason. To be clear though the Axiom is a controller, not a synthesizer, it just sends midi notes and controls to whatever soft synth you're using (like Reason).
i have a novation synth and ive connected it to reason and it registers the sound, how do i use the sound of reason through my synth tho? ive got loads of dubstep basslines that i want to controll by playin the synth, any helps much appreciated :)
@MrCouldyoubeloved what you need to do is send MIDI from your keyboard into Reason. Then you should be able to play notes on the keyboard and hear them out of Reason.
Just as an example, I control reason with a couple of Akai LPK25s. I run the audio from Reason on my laptop through Audio 2 DJ out to my amp. Works great.
@iamdullusional Axiom is where its at man :) i got the same keyboard and i LOVE it... you wont be dissappointed with this puppy.. it sinks completely to reason which is fucking amazing!
how do i make this whomp smoother and less grainy sounding? should i change my analog ocs. to a sine wave or do i play with the filter frequency or something like that? help with this would be much appreciated
@l3dse7en because we're using the bit crusher to achieve the sound it's going to a bit grainy, for an alternate way to do something similar check out our latest massive tutorial on our channel. You could also try adding a separate EQ after the synth to shape the sound a bit.
@virtualmark check out our recent video "Talking Stepper." It's an extensive tutorial on how to produce unique talking sounds with Massive on any platform...
