It really did not turn out good, all potatoes were seperated in the oil. I guess because of the fork poking. For me it did not work. I never had this problem before. Anyways thanks for the recipe.
@SuperVeggieDelight Hi Bhavna! To this comment, I think the person that said the potato's fell apart, I'm thinking they boiled the potato instead of steaming. Sounds like the potato had extra moisture and fell apart because of that. That's what happens when I boil potatos and try to fish them out of the water with a fork. Just thought I would add my input :) I could be wrong.
nice recipe hey bt i always used to add baking soda to the batter hmm from now on will add corn starch to make it crispier..thanks for the tip...this helps..
For this recipe, you don't need moisture in potato. If you boil then it will have lot of moisture and you will have to acutally cook again to remove that moisture before you make bateta vada....so hope this helps. And yes, one more thing, steamed food taste batter than boiled sometimes....
dear bhavana, cn u give some tips on cleaning pressure cookers, microwave etc coz ur pressure cookers n utensils look so clean as if newly bought. also cn u give some tips on preserving coriander n mint leaves
I just wash all my utensils with regular dish washing liquid but once a week or so, I use commet powder with special kind of foil wired sponge to clean all brown spots if it has any. To preserve my herbs, I take paper towel and arrange them in single layer and than roll and wrap and put it in ziploc bag and referigerate. I don't wash them in advance, I wash only when I am ready to use and wash the needed amount only. Hope this helps.
The authentic batata wade is made with potato sabji made made with onion, ginger, green chillies, curry leaves etc. Then you make the wada out of it. This is aaloo bonda but not batate wada.
I did say in video that you can add onion and i know that with bateta wada, the mixture is sauted little bit but I hardly see any difference this way and the tradtional way, taste wise...so
Make tomato soup or carrot soup or lentil soup or simply mix vegetable soup and you will feel better. I usually make khichri(indian rice) and kadhi(hot yogurt soup) for sick people.
@oKeegan well I try to do tomorrow. But that khichri rice can you make I only found some in hindi what I dont understand. thx for sharing ur recipes. good night from GER. ^^
Hi Bhavna.....plz can u show us how to fry plantain chips (banana chips)......love ur recipes and hv tryd almost all......wow i m frm mumbai and batata vada is my all tym fav snack......god bless u.
Hi Bhavna, nice recipe! I add hot oil to make vada crispy. I also add curry leaves in the potato mixture. This brings good flavor in vada. What kind of pot do you use for deep frying? Also, how do you defrost the chutneys after removing them from freezer? Can we freeze the chutney containers again for any leftovers?

Hi
It has nothing to do with fork. I always use fork, but never seperates out in oil....If you think it happened b/c of fork, use spoon...enjoy!
