Have, as most do, fond memories of Tuam...tho being a yank could never pronounce "Tuam" to the satisfaction of my Irish hosts! Many thanks again, esp enjoyed the rendition after being in New Orleans after Katrina.
little girl, I love the way you sing, but please don't stand in the íronród, ever been to James Joyces stories, there was a girl walked into the íronród, and she shuffled off her mortal coil on this life. And the engine driver, who had desperately tried to wrestle with the brake as the girl went under the car, and never recovered from the shock of watching her die, so please, please, nic e pretty little girl, never stand in the íronród,. I want you to live long and die happy.l
That was just beautiful. Kids, stay with your mission. You all are a gift. Love ya Paul, they broke the mold with you buddy. All the Best, Richard Scott and Lori Kay, Cincinnati
Shame the video isn't in sync. Lovely version of the song.

Paul Brady gave us Lakes of Ponchatrain in 1977. You can see it on U Tube. My favorite is Planxty, however this young lady did a wonderful job.

@johnnyhoodoo This is the singer who brought this song to the world. Listen to him in 1977. My favorite rendition is sung by Planxty.

Ar mé "A chailín Creole, tá mo phocaí lom, foraor,
Ach ab é na alligators, do luífinn síos faoin spéir".
"Tá fáilte romhat go dtí mo thí, cé gur simplí é i réim
Ach níor diúltadh riamh don strainséir ann ar Bhruach Loch Pontchartrain.

amhráin iontach! tá na liricí thíos anseo...
Ar mhaidin geal sa Mhárta, d'fhág mé slán ar New Orleans,
Is thug mé aghaidh ar Jackson town, ag lorg stóir is maoin'
Mo ghráin ar airgead iasachtach, ní raibh cairde agam le fáil
Sin a bhris mo chroí le crá is cumhaidh ar Bhruach Loch Pontchartrain.
