I work in the Employment Industry and have seen a massive decline in the amount of jobs here in the US. However, it seems to be moving to a global market when it comes to opportunities. George you miss the point, high taxes are not to raise revenue they are there to promote investment. Business already has all the money, I guarantee that you and I don't have it. Why should big business expand now, with reduced supply they can count on higher prices and more profit for less work, while we starve. With high taxes it is invest your money or lose it.
On the other hand capital can flee offshore unless there is some kind of sunset clause so they know days of high profits will return

Theres always work for skilled workers willing to work for oh....30k a year or so. I work in construction and I am a very skilled very hard worker. My company is really busy and "always hiring" anyone who is skilled and experienced and willing to work for low pay. I wanted a raise and they said no, so I went to another company asked for a job and they hired me on the spot as an experienced worker for low pay. 1 shitty company for another. woohoo.

When i needed more work because my crappy job gave me even crappier hours i had to look for anything. I went to the employment office. They referred me to temp agencies... Temp agencies gave me a job...... for 2 weeks. Now theres nothing. I have filled out at least 60 applications to different places. Half of which said "we arnt hiring, infact we are about to downsize".

Going to temp agencies shows about the same very day filling out apps to join the waiting list to get to work for some crappy job for a short period of time. Going to the businesses and asking if they are hiring gets you a point to the temp agencies. Which... mind you the temp agencies are full of mexicans that have already secured the good jobs because they were there first.

Jobs come from capital investment. Take away people's capital (by taxing them) and you destroy jobs. Now it is true that you can also create government jobs with tax money. But those are not PRODUCTIVE jobs...those are basically a drag on the economy. Once government does it's "police/military/courts" function...the rest is wasted (example...government schools are twice as expensive as private schools).

Just give all employees over the age of 55 the option of taking a one-time only Gov't check of $1 million to retire early (tax free). They can't seek employment elsewhere, but can do volunteer work or work out of their homes, if they want. This would create enough jobs to hire the 16 million unemployed people, now looking for work. Employees in high-demand jobs or essential service jobs would have first crack at the million.

Turnaround my ass! They keep saying that the unemployment rate stats are "lagging" and the real numbers are better. BULL! Historically, the unemployment rate will not bottom out until sometimes around September of 2010 through March of 2011 . We may see unemployment rates(not U6 unemployment rates) hit 15 percent. I understand the sentiment, but to be fair it did go down if you look at the seasonally adjusted and it stayed the same if you look at the non-adjusted rates. The same data being used by the media and the administration is the same data used by the previous one in reporting employment rates, so you can't exactly fault them for using it. It is still bad, and I don't know if any of the nimbers can be trusted as they leave out many factors.

When i needed more work because my crappy job gave me even crappier hours i had to look for anything. I went to the employment office. They referred me to temp agencies... Temp agencies gave me a job...... for 2 weeks. Now theres nothing. I have filled out at least 60 applications to different places. Half of which said "we arnt hiring, infact we are about to downsize".

Going to temp agencies shows about the same very day filling out apps to join the waiting list to get to work for some crappy job for a short period of time. Going to the businesses and asking if they are hiring gets you a point to the temp agencies. Which... mind you the temp agencies are full of mexicans that have already secured the good jobs because they were there first.

Jobs come from capital investment. Take away people's capital (by taxing them) and you destroy jobs. Now it is true that you can also create government jobs with tax money. But those are not PRODUCTIVE jobs...those are basically a drag on the economy. Once government does it's "police/military/courts" function...the rest is wasted (example...government schools are twice as expensive as private schools).

Why do we create artificial unemployment problems? There's no problem. Just give all employees over the age of 55 the option of taking a one-time only Gov't check of $1 million to retire early (tax free). They can't seek employment elsewhere, but can do volunteer work or work out of their homes, if they want. This would create enough jobs to hire the 16 million unemployed people, now looking for work. Employees in high-demand jobs or essential service jobs would have first crack at the million.

Historically, the unemployment rate will not bottom out until sometimes around September of 2010 through March of 2011 . We may see unemployment rates(not U6 unemployment rates) hit 15 percent. I understand the sentiment, but to be fair it did go down if you look at the seasonally adjusted and it stayed the same if you look at the non-adjusted rates. The same data being used by the media and the administration is the same data used by the previous one in reporting employment rates, so you can't exactly fault them for using it. It is still bad, and I don't know if any of the nimbers can be trusted as they leave out many factors.

We are in a depression! I agree, do not listen to mainstream media!! Things are only going to get worse. We had been in a recession for a LONG time before "they" finally admitted it, so it will take them a year or two to admit we are in a depression.

ShadowStats has unemployment at over 20%. Those are the numbers before the Clinton administration. 20%. Think about that folks and let it sit and stew. That's 1 out of every 5 people that have no or only partial employment. Great Depression US was 1 out of 4 and Weimar Germany was 1 out of every 3.

When their business have exported themselves on the slave trade, they have imported back here to an nation of Wal_Mart shopkeepers. Why can we all import one to another market place what all of us produced? And now jobs of the future is your green jobs but do Hara Guru Obama knows his Obama-mobile? I know you should be prepared for the worst, but damn. Last time I checked, it was at like 9%, which is still ridiculous, but not as bad as 16%.

sad how it is a " fine competitive thing" as long as one has the potential to benefit at any cost to others but when those same predators & parasites become the host it is terrible. Rate of talking monkeys is but reciprocal destruction . If only it was possible to point fingers at self, IF ONLY. Perhaps it is time to stop hiring others to make your most important decisions for you & invent some sort of real democracy built on equal rights & equal responsibility . Try self emancipation !

This was foreseen years ago and it was planned. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when people are loaded with debt and You have a debt based currency the economy explodes. 70% of our economy is based on consumer spending due to debt and when no one can take on more debt spending stops... Doh Doh!!!!!! People wake up this was planned so they could introduce a new world wide currency. You need to get away from the damn TV and educate Yourself on the Federal Reserve and banking...
