@pocketsfullofnothing I'm not sure about it's meaning. But personally I think it's about someone wanting to die. He talks about the parting gifts and 'find the god before he finds you first'. Resort in paradise(RIP?).

It sounds like someone who is sick of the world and who wants to believe that there does exist a paradise and afterlife and it is not make believe and he is headed for that place.

this is awesome! I'm a friend of Jason's and I was one of the first few to hear this actual version. He sent it to us while he was San Diego and we were still in Virginia. It's been one of my favorites since I heard it. It went through several titles: Retort to Toiletmouth...Make Believe...I love Stranger in the Sky! I'm amazed that you have this recording! no, he wrote it in 2001. "try try try" i assume you mean "no stopping us" b/c he sings that in the song. he wrote that one for his first album back in 2002
