The commentator saying he played it wrong shows his depth of knowledge when he is talking about the Italian playing the 22. Saying he has got to cal 1500 when he has just under 4000 back. He then even says "they say your 7-1 to flop it." Come on bro THINK lol
well, last time me pre-flop with pocket aces raised and got re-raised then i raise again then he all in then i call, eventually cracked by a straight draw ...obviously u need both luck and technique
Having said that channing is a top player, and when your playing at that level you need to mix it up.But on the whole playing aces like i don't think is great.
He couldn't have been trapping on a 910 board.Someone easily could have a straight draw and giving them a free card is the last thing you should do.As it happens the turn completes a straight and if todd had qj he would only have himself to blame.Aces need to be played agressive,so you can fold them if you think your beat,
LOL @ all the donks without a clue screaming and whining every time someone doesn't raise, bet, bet, bet with AA like the standard ABC-donks they play with @ 0.25/0.50 every day...
There`s a reason you play micro-stakes, but I don't expect you to understand that, or you wouldn't play micro-stakes in the first place.
he played them very well. and those of you who think there is only one way to play specific hands you better play backgammon. There was no chance he would fold with that stack size anyway if someone flopped a set.
The thing with aces is if you limp in nearly everyone is gonna throw out the blinds and ante's so thats a pretty little pot to begin with then he was hoping someone is gonna wake up with a hand which todd did...i think he played them unorthodox but he did get the maximum value out of his hand the only reason they thought he played them bad is because he played them unusually go neil i say
Well, I wouldn't be limping A-A with all those players at the table, it only sets you up for trouble later on. In a short-handed game, maybe, but definitely not 8-handed! I say raise it up, and try to narrow down the field, so you're playing it heads up or 3-handed; it's a lot easier playing A-A that way as opposed to having 6 or 7 others in the pot with you.
can i ask if you would play them aces the same way in the same position every time? if your image was tight and you raise from under the gun people start to get suspious and cautious. dont get me wrong i 90% agree with you but 10% of the time i will do what neil done just to mix it up.
At a big table, I'd rather protect my hand. If I were in Neil's position, I definately would have raised it up. You don't wanna just make it easy for everyone to come in the pot, which is what limping does.
are u being sarcastic...? I apologize if my foul language was somewhat offensive, but his play just really disturbed me cuz I've never seen anybody playing aces like that. that was not even slow playing, cuz he still wouldn't even try to value bet on the flop.
NC knows the risks involved in playing aces slow, sometimes it will work and sometimes it wont. From early position he knows a big raise preflop would scare off most players thats why the limp was good.
such stupid commentators. "He's not slow playing, he's worried they made a set" yet then channing calls the all in immediately which proves he knew he was ahead.
Someone tell the commentators its called trapping!! Idiots! he knew it was a shit flop for everyone, so why bet there, check it let some italian chump think his 2's are good and wait till he sticks all his cah in! If he had bet the flop they both would have folded!
He played it fine - there are a ton of ways and lines to take which will have positive expectation. NLHM is as much of art as a science. Channing is very comfortable that he is ahead in that spot and extracts maximum value from the situation.
i dont think the commentators understand how well neil chaning played that hand. put yourself in his seat throughout the hand only with the knowledge that you have pocket aces - and the fact there were so many callers to start with
I would bet probly 3/4 of the pot on the flop and preflop wouldve raised bigger to get it heads up But bottom line is he built a $15,000 pot and was a 22 to 1 favourite to win it ! So how can we and the commentators criticise his play ?
I can't think of any poker clip that better exposes how bad poker commentary can get on UK productions. Channing's play goes right over the head of Greekfish and May.

Me neither, especially at a big table like that, where you want to eliminate the field.
And you ABSOLUTELY have to bet that flop!!!
