@GdaGiant I haven't used the G2. But i have the 4S. Get the 4 the contract will be cheaper the updates are good but not really worth the price. Processing speeds are fast enough on 4. But the G2 looks nice. Personally though I think the iPhone is the perfect size for your hands its just nice. and works well.

@Apple you should change the design the next iPhone and keep the hardware alittle the same. I will give you a hint to make success use a iPod touch board and program it to be a phone and put it in a piece of glass. This will really help apple. Just to tell you I will be the next CEO of Apple.

Specifications aren't everything, my friend. The 4S just works well, so it doesn't really need a super powerful 1.2 GHz processor. Don't forget that the iPhone 4S has a higher resolution screen than the S2.

Airplane mode? Unless you need the phone over night while you're asleep, then this of course will turn everything off, use virtually no battery at all and still wakes you up in the morning.

I like the iPhone 4S, Excellent phone, iOS 5, Brillaint, Siri, it will die down after a while (like the voice control on the 3GS) but.. I personally am not liking iOS as I used to, after seeing the Windows Phone platform taking off, having nice new handsets and features that seems to be winning me over with its refreshing style. A fair review Dave. Glad you pointed out the jerky video i mentioned on your camera footage. As a professional photographer that stands out as a flaw to me, I agree with you that it seems like the hardware cant keep up with the camera. Still, it's better than the wobble effect the iPhone 4 gets and the still shots are very impressive, really on a par with many dedicated compacts, which with such a small lens is hugely impressive.
It also is a world phone! and at least here in the US we get faster speeds on att close to 4g speeds. I like the "s" series cause I dont have to worry much about cases, app compatibility, etc. Even though its like the verzion version with the side doggles, at least most companies for case, etc. have already and ample amount of products for this version. Ill always buy iphone cause of the awesome app library, apple design, and the fact that it just "works" not to mention icloud changed everything
Not only do they need to redesign the iPhone, Apple needs to fix the yellow screen on the iPhone 4S. The same thing happened with the iPad 2 that the screen looks more yellow than its predecessor and even without the backlight bleeding, yellow gate, whatever you want to call it that it still looks more yellow. I'm very happy with my iPhone 4 and Apple definitely needs to come up with something revolutionary because Siri is not all that.
Well I picked up a 64GB in White on launch day and two things have made me return it: the screen is not as nice as my iPhone 4 - it's washed out, and the battery life is not as good. Had it been a different format, or had something that my iPhone 4 didn't have other than Siri or the camera, I'd have kept it. As it stands, my Incredible S, for me is a better handset.
I think iOS 5 allows for louder speaker volume. Because max volume for music on iOS 4 didn't seem too loud on iOS 4... But now on iOS 5, it seems a fair bit louder!
You said it was going to be the iPhone 5. I think the next iPhone will be called the iPhone 6; it's the 6th iPhone just like the iPhone 4 was the 4th iPhone.
Excellent review. Had the phone for three days now (ordered from the internet Apple Store site on the first day) and as a bit of a newbie have watched your videos on getting cases and protector screens etc. I am, like yourself, mightily impressed by the camera and user friendliness. Indeed the 4S is not cutting edge aesthetically but for me the use of IO5 and HD camera dovetails in with my Apple TV and HDTV so watching videos and photos is a joy and really easy.
I'm glad that they kept the design the same. You can still stand it up straight or stand it up on its side so you can watch video hands free and other simple reasons.
@davomrmac ROFL! The review was still awesome. Also I heard somewhere that the Samsung galaxy s 3 will have a HD screen and a quadcore processor. I am sure it was a reliable site. We'll have to see if they're right.
it's great that you are honest about the iPhone 4s. To me if I look at both 4 and 4s I wouldn't be able to tell which one is which. You are obsoletely right about iPhone 4s; they are 6 months behind and Apple need to step up in next version. There are way too many choices of android phones (size, shapes, colours and most exciting is the OS customization). I have android phone, Nexus S and I always wanted an iPhone but I am glad that I have Android phone:)
To everyone complaining about screen size, just try and reach all four corners of a 4.6" screen when you're holding it in one hand. That's why Apple stuck with 3.5"

@Seantube3 first of all, he didn't ask what you answered. He asked when the iphone 5 was comming out, not if the 4s is the 4th or the 5th. He didn't ask why they didn't call it 5, again, he asked when the comming iphone 5 is comming out. I think your logics aren't even logics, and please, start by reading the question and then answering it.

I like the iPhone 4S, Excellent phone, iOS 5, Brillaint, Siri, it will die down after a while (like the voice control on the 3GS) but.. I personally am not liking iOS as I used to, after seeing the Windows Phone platform taking off, having nice new handsets and features that seems to be winning me over with its refreshing style. But anyway a nice review and i do share some of your thoughts on that it could be better.

A fair review Dave. Glad you pointed out the jerky video i mentioned on your camera footage. As a professional photographer that stands out as a flaw to me, I agree with you that it seems like the hardware cant keep up with the camera. Still, it's better than the wobble effect the iPhone 4 gets and the still shots are very impressive, really on a par with many dedicated compacts, which with such a small lens is hugely impressive.

It also is a world phone! and at least here in the US we get faster speeds on att close to 4g speeds. I like the "s" series cause I dont have to worry much about cases, app compatibility, etc. Even though its like the verzion version with the side doggles, at least most companies for case, etc. have already and ample amount of products for this version. Ill always buy iphone cause of the awesome app library, apple design, and the fact that it just "works" not to mention icloud changed everything

Not only do they need to redesign the iPhone, Apple needs to fix the yellow screen on the iPhone 4S. The same thing happened with the iPad 2 that the screen looks more yellow than its predecessor and even without the backlight bleeding, yellow gate, whatever you want to call it that it still looks more yellow. I'm very happy with my iPhone 4 and Apple definitely needs to come up with something revolutionary because Siri is not all that.

Well I picked up a 64GB in White on launch day and two things have made me return it: the screen is not as nice as my iPhone 4 - it's washed out, and the battery life is not as good. Had it been a different format, or had something that my iPhone 4 didn't have other than Siri or the camera, I'd have kept it. As it stands, my Incredible S, for me is a better handset.

I think iOS 5 allows for louder speaker volume. Because max volume for music on iOS 4 didn't seem too loud on iOS 4... But now on iOS 5, it seems a fair bit louder!

I read that the A5 in the iPhone 4S was supposed to be running at 800 MHz, but it was actually running at 716 MHz.

Excellent review. Had the phone for three days now (ordered from the internet Apple Store site on the first day) and as a bit of a newbie have watched your videos on getting cases and protector screens etc. I am, like yourself, mightily impressed by the camera and user friendliness. Indeed the 4S is not cutting edge aesthetically but for me the use of IO5 and HD camera dovetails in with my Apple TV and HDTV so watching videos and photos is a joy and really easy.

I'm glad that they kept the design the same. You can still stand it up straight or stand it up on its side so you can watch video hands free and other simple reasons.

it's great that you are honest about the iPhone 4s. To me if I look at both 4 and 4s I wouldn't be able to tell which one is which. You are obsoletely right about iPhone 4s; they are 6 months behind and Apple need to step up in next version. There are way too many choices of android phones (size, shapes, colours and most exciting is the OS customization). I have android phone, Nexus S and I always wanted an iPhone but I am glad that I have Android phone:)

To everyone complaining about screen size, just try and reach all four corners of a 4.6" screen when you're holding it in one hand. That's why Apple stuck with 3.5"
