  • please tell me that's brass music store!!!

  • Did I hear a little "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in there?? =)

  • i looks more like a tuba shaped to look like a french horn.... but in F O.o

  • That is in no way a contrabass french horn. Don't insult the best instrument in the world by modeling a tuba after it. You aren't fooling anyone.

  • wow thats a really big french horn......*looks at back corner* HOLY SHIT!

  • Wow, I would trade my regular french

    horn in for that!

  • Dang he is good

  • Nothing short of trippy

  • tht is the lowest note ive EVER heard on french horn and I play french horn.Impressive.

  • No, he's just a hobbit.

  • Now what about a marching mellophone version of this o.o

  • thats really big!!!!

  • of course hes from Austin

cus only here will u see someone who owns 10 large brass insterments aswell as a giant french horn xD

  • somebody's compensating!!!! jk :) sweet instruments.

  • heh circletuba.

  • oh my goodness gracious! FRENCH HORN!!! i play a regular double concert horn... but this thing is freakin amazing looking!

  • Man I can just imagine the sound six of them would make, overblown. My god! I want a sample library of that thing!

  • seriously? that is just a regular french horn. believe me, i play one.

  • @andreawarner11 seriously? its not. look at the size of the mouthpiece! its looks like my trombone mouthpiece

  • It could substitute a Tuba.....

  • He's got some big brass...

  • yay Austin, TX :)

  • Judging by range and fingerings, I'm guessing that this instrument was pitched a half-step above the Euphonium. I have not found any other information on this instrument past this video, so any clarification would be appreciated.

  • you might as well just play the tuba

  • Sounds like a Euphonium, maybe a little "woodier".

  • do you have a fetish for big instruments or something?

  • @13kalahari13

Melephones aren't that much different in sound but the french horn still sounds more "natural" to me. The fingerings are almost the same, and if you started out playing trumpet before you tried horn, you'll see how easy it is to trade off between instruments.

  • sounds like a euphonium/trombone in one instrument.

  • That's a tuba mouthpiece right?

  • That guy is really tiny!!!

  • wow, l like to play it in a Hornquartett.

    Germany

  • Why in the world would this EVER be invented?!

  • big

  • That would be a bitch in marching band!

  • @oldfart387 Didn't they invent a horn for marching band, similar to the shape of a trumpet? Just make that bigger XD

  • @zackolot I thought the melophone was the marching version of the french horn, correct? lol....maybe? Although People have actually had marching french horns in Christmas marching bands, I men you get the Christmas feel more with the look of the horn as compared to the professional bands with the 'better engineered' horn anyways.....

  • @randyseck Yeah, Mellophones are the marching version, in the key of F. There are marching Bb horns...but they suck. haha. It's impossible to play well.

  • @ErinBoBaron123 ...And there are horns in both Bb & F (Which I play) and they aren't hard to march with or play. ^^; heh I don't see why one in just Bb would be hard to play...You play a mellophone, I take it? What's it like? I've always wanted to be able to play one just to see what it's like (Though I know almost for certain I'd like regular french horns more...I prefer their sound, etc)

  • @13kalahari13 I do play mellophone, and I love it. Very similar to trumpet, but with more of a horn sound, and a deeper mouthpiece. I think the main reason I don't like Bb marching horn is because I'm not the strongest at double french horn in symphonic (I'm technically a clarinet player; Bb horn -> Mellophone was my first brass instrument). The tone of a mellophone is brighter than that of horn, so yes if you like the sound of horn you probably wouldn't like mello. But they are extremely fun :)

  • @ErinBoBaron123 Ah (: I'm pretty sure I played one once at a football game at school or something but if I remember correctly I failed because of the different fingerings and such xD

  • LOTS OF INTS

  • That thing would freakin eat me

  • Holy shit.

  • I wish I lived there...

  • grandma is that you?

  • Holy fuck that thing is huge!

  • I agree with everyone else. Sound like a baritone<3

  • is that a Wagner tuba back there?

  • Tuba Fetish?

  • what is with this guy and big instruments??

  • WOW!

  • Sounds more like a baritone than any Horn

  • danm, i wish i could blow that thing underwater make it look like someone farted

  • Aaron Rodgers!?!

  • It would be awesome if the Euphonium was designed slightly different and had rotory valves :D love'em

  • is this a straight up weird shaped tuba??? o.O

  • HOLY CONTRABASS INSTRUMENT'S BATMAN!!!!!

  • might as well just get a concert tuba and turn it side ways on your lap, reach your arm over inside the bell and start playing, haha.

  • So, it's a trombone

  • No I think its the F ( Below )

  • OMG I play the Bflat French Horn and I thougt MINE WAS HUGE

  • .. :o

  • i'd love to see a contrabass tuba.

  • @TrumpetGirl555 a contra bass tuba is a regular tuba

  • @TrumpetGirl555 There IS techniquely a Subcontrabass Tuba, but there's never been a definitive model for it (at least three different ones exsist, each one is built in a different configuration).

  • wow i'd love to spend a day in that room playing all those tubas. That's a great collection!

  • XDXDXD WHY!?

  • I would love to see someone march with that!

  • What kind of mouthpeice is that?

  • I want to see a contrabass sousaphone

  • @Droideka133 yh me 2, i also wanna play one

  • When will you ever NEED a contrabass french horn?

  • @musicalmike235

When the tubas get hit by a flaming bus.... o-o

  • @RazgrizNinjaEX8 lmao so true nd im a tuba sectional leader lmao

  • @musicalmike235 if you play in a very large orchestra

  • and then they came up with a better idea and invented the euphonium

  • Where can you get one of those !

  • 4 valves and no thumb trigger? seems legit.

  • WANT HAS!!!

  • Is there only one thumb trigger?

  • Troolololo

  • like fort the random raincatcher in the back

  • Damn. That's a huge horn. >_<;

  • Heldenleben!!!!

  • I think I'm getting the feeling that this man owns several other large brass instruments.

  • EIN HELDENLEBEN!

  • who ever built that must have been trolling.

  • LOLOL @Dodo251

  • Ok so what did Hippietwinkie say??

  • and then they invented the euphonium..

  • these actually exist?

  • UUUUUUUUUHUHUHUHUHUHUUH so funny he looks like an oompa-loompa LOL

  • Lol I think its funny- theres only brass instruments

  • It looks like it's got a tuba mouthpiece on a "tuba" that is shaped like a French Horn.

  • @maxiehound You're right. Roger Bobo had this custom made for him. It's just a tuba coiled differently.

  • h=just put it around your body, you can be the first to invent the...sousa...hornishtype...thing

  • Then, they had a better idea, and invented the euphonium.

  • practicality TO THE MAX!

  • just a tuba with different shape.

  • @vowywowy nope.

  • haha! wow =O

  • f-f-four keys XO MAMMA MIA!!!! I prefer double :3

  • WOW...

  • I really wish I had one of these back in high school!

  • ใหญ้ได้อีก

  • lol Ein Heldenleben

  • Our teacher told us never to call it french horn in high school cuz its really only called horn since i think it didnt come from french i think england?

  • @DogVideosBySisters In the early 18th century, there were two approaches to the "horn", the French and German. What we know as the "French horn" today was actually a horn in the German style, The French style of horn was closer to a bugle, having less of a bell flare and a less conical bore. In England, one might have to specify which horn was intended.Of course, as Anna Russel used to point out, then there's the English horn which isn't English but French and isn't a horn at all. Go figure.

  • @DogVideosBySisters The first type of horn was from germany, but the horn has been modified many times, by many different people, in many different places. The horn was originally just used as a hunting call thinger in plays, the french were the first to really start using it as an actual instrument, hence the name french horn.

  • Not real

  • dude, i want your instrument collection.

  • lets see him play the tmea all state 2011 music on that

  • He can certainly play, but sadly this instrument sounds like a constipated rhino straining into a wet sock.

  • Is that like the equivalent to a tuba or euphonium mouth piece? ;S?

  • thumbs up for bass clarinet!

  • @zachxblast yes

  • @zachxblast yes

  • Finally, a horn that allows you to frack notes in even more octaves!

  • They should make more contra-instruments (non-tubas). It would make things so cool.

  • @classiclibertarian HEY!!! lol you leave tubas out of it J/K

  • HOLY #$%^!!!

  • Why make them?

  • personally i prefer the regular horn, like the one i play.

i was just astounded by the size of the horn!! ..........it's like ........astounding LOL

  • @friskyfido

Hahahaha, yeah that was my reaction when my tuba professor told me about it. It is mainly used in Wagner operas. The crazy thing, is my tuba prof use to be a student of Bobo back in the day.

  • 04: this is dubstep

  • "Hey Roger, whatcha gonna do with that Miraphone F tuba?"

"I think I'll machine it into a circular shape and call it a contrabass french horn."

    "Why?"

    "Good question."
