  • omg i loved this!!! i had a video of one and i used to dance to this song when my parents turned it on

  • Check out the video on my channel for The Fairy Queen And The Bees, the epic fantasy novel now available in ebook format.

  • This show is the reason I grew into loving japanese anime, I just didn't realize it until recently because I watched this when I was so young...

  • which pixel is grimm

  • I still know the words. XD

  • I love this!!!!!!!

  • Please can you share where you got this video I'd love to buy it.

  • you can find it on Ebay!

  • where did u get this

  • omg i wish this was on DVD

  • omg, my childhood!!!!

  • this reminds me of when I was in Kindergarten...good stuff!

  • Sweet! Just the intro to the show without another intro letting you know who posted the video. How unpretentious!

  • They need to brang this cartoon back,i hate the stuff they have today.

  • This makes me think about seasoning salt and the little guy who lives in my leg and makes it hurt.

  • I love it

    sweet days sweet memory

  • This has got to be one of the catchiest opening songs of all time. I loved this show as a kid -- I still love it. I'm 28 and have a Master's degree.

  • I love this song. It takes me back to my childhood.

  • I had to repost this since for some reason it got 52 likes, but it got pushed to the back of the comment wall. Please bring this version back up to its rightful and earned number..

  • You only grow up once you no longer believe in dreams coming true, everyone tells you what should be expected of you, and the joy found simplier times is deemed "not age appropriate". Once you have no reflections on childhood innocence and how precious it is, your "inner child" is gone forever, and you will always be a media-morphed and society-created adult in body, mind, and soul. Never lose what simple joys you have, and no one should tell you to throw them away because you get older.

  • Am I the only one who can't stand cartoons now, especially the kind that has songs with singing and dancing.

Being bombarded with that as a kid its no wonder I turn to Heavy Metal to get these songs out of my head.

And I still can't stand cartoons like Shrek with more of the same.

  • been years for me. i was like 3 when i saw this and i still have it on video cassette :D. HAHAHA UNLUCKY BASTARDS!!!! i may be 17 but i am keeping it

  • "If you market only to kids, your dead because all adults are simply children grown up" - Walt Disney.

  • Don't think I've seen this since I was like 10 years old, wow.

  • @shindukess ... I have had a very rough childhood, depressed as a kindergartener, lots of medical trauma as a child, My Bio Dad didn't care about me, My Mom had to protect me from my Adopted Father, and in the final years of my Adopted Father's life, he tried to slowly kill me so he wouldn't need to support me even when he said he "loved me so much." Despite all of that, I fought to achieve my dream of a happy life. It seemed impossilble, but my dreams were reached. It can be done!!

  • omg i had forgotten all about this!!!!! They need to bring these shows back!!!

  • There are a lot of things not age appropriate for kids, but theres nothing not age appropriate for adults.

  • I loved the Snow White and Rose Red story!

  • Tomic Betty colours

  • that witch in the water used to scare the shit out of me

  • @quickboarder

    OMG, meeee tooooooooo!

  • I have a VHS of some of these episodes, I still watch it. This is the shit.

  • I just nostalgia'd all over.

  • can you help me? i'm looking for an GFTC cartoon where young woman is making a basket and then suddenly the twig cut her cheek, and in the town she was selling the pottery and then suddenly a horseman ran over it... and later he invited her to his home...

  • @JCDlover93 King Grizzlebeard. Based on a tale originally called King Thrushbeard.

  • and may i add, to the " I feel sorry for kids today." comment, as do I. I feel terrible when I see that on Halloween Night no kids are out trick or treating the streets of old neighborhoods when people actually had yards instead of a tiny patch of ground with no trees. or the fact that they will never know these magical moral filled classic stories or the american tall tales because they are too busy getting "diversity" lessons and tween garbage shoved down their throats. and we did nothing...

  • get bent, anime blows. This is Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics!

  • @thepickofdestiny6891

Ironically, you are dissing an anime.

    This show is an anime.

  • hey come along and joing the fun

its the time for fairy tales!!.... ^^

  • omg i used too love watchin this.

  • 12pm 1pm on Saturday on Nick! My sister, and I was always there!

  • why o why wont they release all of these on DVD?!?!?!

  • Haha, as a child in the 80s, I watched this cartoon religiously on Nickelodeon. I am now an anime nerd. Any wonder why?

I remembered this ENTIRE theme song for my entire life, never knowing what it was from until a couple years ago. Thank you, internet: you've returned my childhood.

  • I'm 22 yaers old and I still enjoy these cartoons. My inner child will never die. :)

  • @XxKuyaaaJayyxX

They're more catchy because you were young back then. If you look at kids now they will like new themes since its their time of cartoons. GROWING UP SUCKS

  • @GTwWeapon That is precisely why growing OLD is mandatory, but growing UP is optional.

  • @2wingo I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @XxKuyaaaJayyxX

I am almost 30 now and I gotta say, cartoons nowadays aren't as good as when I was a kid growing up.

  • I used to LOVE this show... Nickelodeon's special delivery block on the weekends! Good animation, good story lines(twist in the story from what most of us were familiar with). Oh well all eras must come to an end...

  • I think I know why cartoons like these meant so much to us as children: they gave us a comforting message: It's always possible to have a happy ending, no matter how bad things are.

  • Oh my sure does bring back lots of memories, times when cartoons where worth watching not some of the stuff they show now!

  • Will someone please tell me what musical instruments are used in this intro's music? Or if it's on a media player, what instruments are represented?

  • @FlamingBat

I don't know for certain, but there's no doubt these are all synths (typical 80s/90s synth rock dontcha know).

You've got drums, a wood block that pops in now and then with the "cloppy" stuff you here, you've got electric bass, there's some flute, a lead female vocalist and a back up female harmony vocalist, a Trumpet, a couple of different string synths aaand...I'm not sure if the upbeat drum hits are rimshots or just hand clapping.

I think that's it. --Random music major.

  • 0:18 this scene alone was enough to convince me that this cartoon and David the Gnome were related. Then i realized they werent.

  • Every time I hear this song, i am instantly transported to the joy of my childhood! SUCH a memory rush!

  • i've been looking for this song forever!!!!!!! <3

  • @XxKuyaaaJayyxX its not just you. sometimes i actually get this song stuck in my head.

  • what the fuck is wrong with this opening? -.- oh, I know, it's in english...

  • @charmed4everfan - Most of us here in Gaijin-land watched this show on Nick Jr in the late 80's - early 90's, sorry we didn't have teh internetz back then so we could experience the oh-so-superior Japanese version... I like anime and jpop/jrock as much as the next person, but I have fond memories attatched to this theme.

  • @XxKuyaaaJayyxX Yes, but this is an 80's cartoon =P

  • @blueshogun96: 80's ANIME, you mean.

  • @TherealRNO Yes, correct.

  • @blueshogun96: At any rate the point remains that shows by and large from the 90's and earlier rule something awesome. Now, there's little variety among the shows presented and even if there is, the writing is sub-par and sometimes, even the drawing styles appear half-assed. In lament's terms, back then, people actually cared to try and put out quality, whereas now, people make cheap programing. The only channel that is the exception to this is The Hub (with PBS coming in 2nd).

  • @TherealRNO Indeed and agreed. The horribly drawn and thought out cartoons today are driving me crazy.

  • @blueshogun96: Couple that with the fact that a Japanese made a ROBO GF for himself & a man from Australia MARRIED HIS DOG, never mind shows like 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom, Skins (produced BY MTV [a subsidary of Viacom/Nickelodeon]), I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant and others showing kids High School age and younger (even age 12 & younger) engaging in sex and being very, very young--and immature--parents as a consequence? NO thanks!

  • @TherealRNO This too. I find the things on TV these days (as well as the content they present) to be quite appalling. Shows like you just mentioned, promote things like teen pregnancy, single motherhood and out of wedlock birth. Statistically, those kids are much more likely to end up in jail and be considered "scum of society". I can guarantee that there is a direct correlation between the behaviour of young people and the TV programming they watch as well as environmental influences.

  • @blueshogun96: It all depends on the level of control one (and one's parents) has. I mean, some played Mortal Kombat when it debuted at age 10 and watched classic Warner humor alongside it, yet could tell the difference between real-life with real people and the comparison of a pixelated video game image with graphic violence (MK) or a cartoon laced with innuendo and subtle inside jokes for adults complete with slapstick comedy (WB). It also depends on the amount of morals presented, too.

  • @TherealRNO: For example, for as much as I got MK & the WB, I also got Pooh, The Muppets (Sesame Street, The Muppet Show/Muppet Babies/Muppets Tonight, & Fraggle Rock), Eureeka's Castle (one of the reasons I liked Bear when it started in 1997), the debut of Rugrats, & "girly" shows like Jem, My Little Pony (80's version), Strawberry Shortcake (80's original), Care Bears (the one with Shreeky), alongside reruns of the past (ex: Underdog) & "block party" programs like The Disney Afternoon.

  • Oh yeah. I got the DiC stuff too (Gadget, Mario, & Sonic), alongside stuff LIKE David the Gnome and this imported anime about the Bros. Grimm fairy tale classics.

  • fuk yeah!

  • I'd LOVE to buy this on DVD where can I buy it PLEASE? :)

  • makes you wish for the old days and old shows huh :D

  • They need to bring this back now and get rid of all that shit the have today.

  • wow if you put knightmare together with this song then you'd have a perfect match =D

  • Does every generation think its music and entertainment was better than the newer generation's? Or was this stuff really better? All I know is I loved it when I was a kid and it still makes me want to come along and join the fun.

  • Comment removed

  • @stolenrims: Well, everything now is done via computer, which creates a flat, machine-like atmosphere. What's more, there's little variety these days, never mind that much of what's available is either poorly dubbed in the case of anime--which is, ironically, what this show was--or simply lack the charm or wit of years' past. So you make the judgement for yourself on which is better.

  • @stolenrims I think it's more like every generation thinks that their music and entertainment was better than what came after it.

  • Maaaaaan.....this is just. WOW. Can they put this back on tv? I'm about to graduate from law school, but I will definitely watch! Puts a big smile on my face

  • Music by Shuki Levy and Haim Saban. They were more important than anyone else associated with any shows when they were around...and they did the MUSIC.

  • hmm, for some reason I feel like I recognize images from this, but not the show itself :( Maybe its cause some of it look similar to papa beavers story time?

  • All these fantasy shows I watched as a kid might be why I love WOW so much. This intro describes what it's like to a tee lol

  • Please, Please, Please, Please, Please....Does anyone know what episode the water witch is in in the intro? The part where it says meet friendly elfs and" WITCHES TOO." What episode is that hag in?

  • @trisrays 0:27-0:28. Check out the Wikipedia page for Grimms Fairy Tale Classics. There is supposedly an episode called "The Water Witch That Lives in the Pond". I cannot open Wikipedia at this time so I'm unable to confirm. Also type Grimms Fairy Tale Classics Water Witch in the Youtube text box. It will take you to a couple of videos which may be the one you're looking for. I have the link but Youtube does not allow posting of links here!

  • OMG I luv u for posting this

  • Sorry about multiple copies of the same comment I posted. It took me a while to get it right. Please don't flag it is spam. I am just not used to writing comments.

  • Man, I loved this show growing up! I think my favorite episode from this series was "Six Soldiers of Fortune".

  • I feel sorry for kids today

  • Such awesome memories, this is the kind of stuff that was responsible for making me get into game design and comic art. My brother and I used to watch this and all of the other great cartoons of the 80's and early 90's with our mom. Even all of the awesome stuff they started showing on Toonami back in 99 and early 2000's. Kids got it bad today such rubbish absolute rubbish they get.

  • i miss the old days! the old shows. i feel bad for these kids nowadays they will never know what a good tv show is!

  • when ever i feel sad i click on this video and it makes me smile

  • I lasted six seconds .....then the tears came

  • I watched Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics when I was little.

  • 3 people were disturbed by the giant =D

  • @KrosanBeast315 The trick is to find a way to spread those simple joys onto other people. I'm something of a storyteller in my spare time and focus on folk and fairy tales. My philosophy is to bring people a sense of wonder and fantasy no matter how old or young they may be. I think this show played some small part in all that.

  • @KrosanBeast315 AMEN BROTHER. AMEN TO THAT.

  • VERY well said! And to the Nth degree. Thank you!

  • @BrianMak - I just wrote what I felt in my heart.

  • @KrosanBeast315

But growing up is part of the life process. To be mired in the past is regression. Yes, nostalgia is fine...but to idolize and enshrine our youth and past is to take a step backwards. Not even a tree fixates on it's past, it's only part and foundation upon which development can come about.

  • @scorpius319 We do grow up physically. Nothing is also wrong with reflecting on the past. We always go forward in our lives. We have to. However... Idolizing or enshrining our youth is only taking a step backwards if you feel it to be so. Also, I feel that if you have mired in the past, it is only regression if you yourself see it as such.

  • @KrosanBeast315 + scorpius319

We all watched these shows as kids, but adults make them. If we really wanted to, we could relive our past the way we want to, on the other end of the show, so to speak. The 90s was where creators of these shows really poured their heart and soul into them. These days, it's all about money and publicity. Someone has to take that step to bring everything back to the way it was for us.

That's my goal in life. :)

  • @KrosanBeast315

One will know regression soon enough...sometimes too late. But awareness is key and enough...and ironically, fairy tales will tell you the same thing that i am expressing, Ironically, again, if you do some study with cross-cultural comparison of fairy-tales, and myths, you will notice similar motifs,,it is pan human for 1000's of years...our inner beings (core unconscious) can not help but to express itself...it's the best it can do...but we are wise to listen, I know you get it

  • @KrosanBeast315 Well said.

  • @KrosanBeast315 Sadly my dad made me give this vhs away and my other childhood cartoons to my cousin. Seeing this after 13 years it makes me cry, and I am now a 20 year old male college student miserable with no more dreams.

  • @shindukess ... I have had a very rough childhood, depressed as a kindergartener, lots of medical trauma as a child, My Bio Dad didn't care about care about me, My Mom had to protect me from my Adopted Father, and in the final years of my Adopted Father's life, he tried to slowly kill me so he wouldn't need to support me even when he said he "loved me so much." • i have been singing this all day.... couldnt remember what it was then finally looked it up.. weird how that old crap comes back to you...come along comeee along :P

  • This song has always been in the background of my head! FANTASTIC

  • I'm glad you didn't spew your identity all over this video

  • ok I seriously have a question. Was there an episode of Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics about a Ceramic maker that made a jumping mouse out of ceramic clay, and after words it magically came to life, and the jumping mouse went on its own adventure????? The episode was kind of like pinocchio in a way, except it was adventure about a ceramic jumping mouse that wore a red shirt, and possibly wore a red hat, and it came to life, and it went on its own adventure. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

  • I used to sing along to this when it came on.

  • That hairy thing coming out of the water in the intro used to scare me as a kid! LOL I loved this show and the intro, but I knew right when the hairy thing was about to appear and I would cover my eyes!

Was anyone else scared of this?

  • This show introduced me to some of my favorite obscure fairy tales. Like the "Shoes Danced to Pieces", "Coat of Many Colors" and "How Six Men Got Far".

  • early nick 90s got it

  • Oh my god I miss this SO MUCH!! My favorite was the episode where a witch turns a girl into a bird and her boyfriend saves her. This show was so awesome.

  • wow when ever i ask people if they heard of this show they look at my like i am nuts i glad i am not the only who remembers this show.

  • who ever those 3 people are that pressed the dislike button all i can tell you is "you are most def going to hell" for hating on a great classical toon like this.how can someone hate this? -puzzled

  • I forgot about this show, haven't seen it in 17 years.

  • Awwww, I used to watch this when I was 5 or 6! And I hope I'm not being cliche, but I DO remember the song like it was yesterday! Every note of it if not every word! Wow, brings back good memories... C: And to believe this was actually anime! I watched this back then and didn't realize that! Maybe I was too young to understand at the time... Oh well. Good ol' Nick days. I sure miss it. We all do. So thank you so much for posting this! ^.^
  • bueno la relacion musical concuerda con el movimiento del video pero no podemos comparar la introduccion original con una introduccion secundaria

  • Early 90's Nick Jr. for life, yo.

  • @butters11984 you dont

  • I was really young when I watched this but I remember singing the song lol :]

  • This reminds me of the shitty kids clothes I had to wear and frozen juice pops.

  • Best childhood memories ever, I'll never forget these times.

  • Another classic Nickelodeon program. I was a teenager by the time they started showing these in the late 80's, but I still found them enjoyable.

  • There's a couple sellers online offering high quality bootleg dvd sets of the show if anybody is interested. Just do a google search and you should find somewhere that is offering it. It's the best we can get right now...

  • Who's is the little flying girl?

  • I used to stay home from school, fake being sick, just so I could watch this shit. Gods of earth and air do I miss it... :-(

  • @zappbrannigan420 This was when the animators put their hearts into the craft. It was the best!

  • if I ever have kids, I'm gonna make sure they watch this, it's just that good.

and I'm sure we can all agree this is loads better than whats on tv nowadays.

  • I think we should deffently have a dvd box set of these old cartoon shows like this one, I have two nieces, I hope there's a dvd box set of these old nick jr cartoon shows like this one, so that they can experience these cartoon shows, like i have before them.

  • @DimeraFan28 What sucks is they only released about 17 episodes of this on VHS in limited supply back in 1990. The UK had like one DVD of 5 episodes. That's about as home media as the series got sadly.

  • I saw a bunch of cartoons like these on Nick Jr. back in the day and I thought the animation was incredibly cheesy because of how they moved their mouths and how wide they would open. It wasn't until years later that I found out it was anime.

  • oh man I SO remember this. miss it terribly. TT^TT

  • When my sister and I were little, we would watch this like it was going out of style.

  • I'm stunned that this was from Japan, and I never knew that when I was watching these on Nick Jr. back in the 1990s. It's even hard to believe this was dubbed from the same people who brought the Power Rangers to America.

Man, I feel old watching this now...how I miss being a kid :(

  • help! i watched this show all the time and there was an episode where a guy was in jail and had a block of gold (or something like that), that's all i remember. does anyone know the episode i'm thinking of?

  • I would pay pretty good money for a complete DVD set of this.

  • I am planning on naming my daughter when im older Chrysanthemum after the one when the lady turns the girls brothers into swans (:

  • I have every episode on VHS my grandma gave me when i was little!!! I love it soooo much :) go grimms fairytales!!!!

  • I loved this show when i was little, and i still love i! :)

  • I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE this show when I was a kid.

  • Another one of those beautifull cartoon jingles from childhood... I just don't understand what happened to television.

  • OMG Awwwwwwww *getting teary* I absolutely adored this show! PUT IT BACK ON THE FKN AIR!!!!!!!

  • AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! Thank you soooooo much for posting, I've been searching for this EVERYWHERE!!! I used to watch this on Nickoleodeon (i spelled that wrong) back in the day with my sister.

  • I used to love this show!

  • this has a sick beat XD

  • @IThinkImNutz Seriously I was just tapping outthe beat as I was watching this vid!!!

  • this is a world i wish i could live in boy oh boy as a kid i didnt realize it but this is the world i wish i could just jump into. so romantic and beautful and wonderful!

  • in hebrew it's much better!

  • @kryptonite12 You say only that because it's your country's language. By the way, no it doesn't.

  • for the record these tales were better than ANY of the disney versions.

  • @roughy762004

By leaps and bounds, for sure!

I used to watch this all the time when I was little. Made me enjoy the days I was home sick and was eating soup.

  • @roughy762004 HEEEELLLLL YES!

  • On earth how many people will know that this animated cartoon is made in Japan?

  • @cinema901 I think a lot of Nick Jr cartoons were back then. The Little Bits..and I think the Noozles too?

  • @KaldeaX Don't forget Maya the bee!

  • Thank you so much for posting this :) this is my childhood.
