@Nebulous1982 Islamic economics solve the problems of debt and poverty.....at least theoretically. What this system is against is technological advancement. I say that because as long as you have money you can't allow automation. If a machine can do a man's work in a factory that man loses his job. No job? no money. No money? Can't purchase. Can't purchase? factory closes down. So, you are proposing a system that will detain people in boring jobs for the rest of their lives. RBE is the answer.

Istead of putting a law banning drunk-driving, equip cars with radar, an ultrasensitive motion sensor and a computer that can drive the car instead of the drunk. So, that even if the drunk wants to crash into things he can't because the computer won't let him. That is a solution. Laws say don't do this. Solutions say you can't do this even if you tried. So, no there won't be chaos if solutions were implemented.

The sony company would have to set a price for it, but in what currency? Gold, silver, coconuts? What if I don't have the necessary item? It doesn't make sense whatsoever. While I'm not Moslem myself, I respect and cherish difference. I notice you didn't answer the other question that occured to me on watching your video. If a Moslem spends his money collecting stuff, does he avoid Zakat. It's not a big issue or a snide criticism; I'm just curious and want to learn more. But it does seem to undermine the benefit.
@freedeanna Yes. A Muslim does not have to pay zakat if he spends his income, and does not save it. This keeps the money in circulation.
But as I said, the mindset of a muslim is not materialistic, but a good Muslim would gladly give zakat, and voluntary charity is very much encouraged.
Spending money just to avoid zakat does not sound like something a sincere muslim would do. That would be like sleeping at day time when we are supposed to fast from sunrise to sunset... It nullifies it.

Islam is a Way of life, not only based on laws, but about beliefs of this life, and in the Hereafter. Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) taught us that if a person would have a valley of gold, he would want another. It never ends... He also taught that this life compared to the hereafter is like dipping your finger into an ocean, and pulling it out. The water clinging to your finger= this life. The rest of the ocean= the hereafter. We seek the Hereafter, not this life.
The Zeitgeist Movement has a theory that people will eventually be vastly unemployed and impoverished because there will be no work, as mechanization of the workplace will reduce the costs for businesses (they won't have to pay employees, only a minimal team of engineers to look after the mechanics of the system). What happens when all these unemployed people start relying on the Zakat? Can the Zakat take care of all of them?
Not living beyond your means is a fair enough principle by which to live your life, common sense maybe....shouldn't be turned into something religious. You could maybe take good principles from various religions and have a good life without praying,worship,believing in gods yadda yadda and understand that some of these principles just make life nicer/easier without the smiting and pish.

You just don't really hear about those that are not, since they don't have leaders, money, etc. No "publicity", basically. I'm guessing you are a man of science; did you know that Einstein, Newton and many other great scientists believed in God? If God is almighty, why does he not send more prophets to convince the non believers? I'm sure if a couple more messengers of Allah came to the Earth now with technological findings 100 years ahead we would all be convinced that Islam is the right religion and Qur'an is the word of God.

Well, God would then be spoiling us. He revealed all the messages and sent enough prophets. If he sent a prophet now it will be the same. There will be believers and disbelievers plus He said that Mohammad is the final messanger. The last message is fit until the end of time and there's no need for more. Anybody can use their brains now to either believe or not believe, that's the test and you have the tools to pass. God says in the Qur'an that if he wished it there will be no disbelievers.
I won't bother bringing up any of the other points because the credibility of all the information in those videos is lost after a relation as stupid as the one I have mentioned was made. The idea behind the video is to convince the weak and uneducated by intimidating them with all the knowledge the speaker has and making them feel dumb. When really anyone with a high school education can watch it and point out that the general and vague statements in the book do not match the discoveries.
Nebulous: I took your suggestion and watched the miracles of the Qur'an 1-8, and my comments could not be any different than those of the people who have posted on those videos. It is nothing but random sections referenced from the Qur'an and twisted to relate to scientific discoveries. My personal favorite was the 7 heavens' relation to the 7 layers that protect the earth from harmful foreign dangers. OH THEY'RE BOTH 7, SO THEY MUST BE THE SAME! sad attempt, to say the least.

You say you prayed and you never felt any connection, but God does not answer prayers of those who live as they like and go by the desires. One more thing, many people pray and all say they feel good about it. But lets look at this objectively, it is God Himself who should show us how HE wants us to pray to him. How did He do this? By sending many prophets to show us the true ways. Our prayer is consistent with the prayer of all prophets and their true followers. The sweetness of prayer cannot be well enough described with words, its something to be experienced to fully understand. I can describe it with love, attraction, and Closeness with God, but these terms fall short.
On the other hand are the Muslim countries which believe that human beings are so dumb that they need a book to live their lives by because they can't think for themselves. This leaves the strict enforcement of Sharia on the people (which are never given a chance to evolve) and most of them follow it out of fear or pretend to follow it when really they are uneducated and corrupt inside. This also leads to violence and terrorism carried out by those who use the religion for their own purposes.
The US and the West, which sees the way to reaching world peace and ending poverty by giving people the freedom to work, raise a family and think for themselves with no obligation to follow rules in society or a certain religion. Now people have the ability to think and naturally evolve enough to know what is right and wrong, as well as find their niche in society and pursue it which leaves little else to be desired.
I prayed for over 10 years and never felt any connection with god or any sort of spiritual enlightenment. To see my judgements in practice you can look at all the Muslim countries in the world. They are among the top ranks as the most corrupt, crime filled poverty stricken countries in the world. Please explain this to me so I can look at Islam seriously.
The problem here is that you are looking at what bad muslims and bad countries do. I , as a Muslim,do not promote corruption of bad muslims, but the religion itself. Your mother got murdered, and there was no investigationn due to corrupted people, ok. But what does Islam have to do with it? There are many bad muslims out there, as there are bad christians, bad buddhists, bad christians etc etc. If you are sincere and not just coming up with excuses, research Islam itself.
What does Islam have to do with what I went through? Lets see, if we never followed Islam and instead focused on technology and industrial growth, we would have a successful nation and wouldn't have enough people willing to kill others for money. We would probably have well paid police officers that value their job enough to do it too...I.E. if I were born in say the US, Europe, Japan, or any other developed country that doesn't strictly follow a religion this probably wouldn't have taken place.
In order for an average person to follow Islam to the fullest you have to be damn near an ideal human being. Praying 5 times a day and studying the Qur'an and its teachings leaves little room for the intellectual growth that would give one proper understanding of why Sharia is the way it is.
Therefore most will try and follow it the best they can with no understanding which usually ends up putting one in a state of perpetual self denial and eventually corruption.
Once you taste the sweetness of prayer, praying 5 times a day is not enough.
The rest of what you said is conjecture and empty statements. Islam encourages seeking beneficial knowledge including sharia, and to understand the things that we believe in and should implement.

By entering Islam first. This is the way you will given spiritual life. Then you would learn how to pray and if you are a sincere heart, you will enjoy the prayer. As our bodies consume food to survive, the soul consumes good deeds incl prayers, and when a soul is made to raise to higher level due to the adherence to the guidelines of Islam, you will feel more Closeness with God and enjoy prayer.

Also, can you (to the best of your abilities) describe the "sweetness of prayer" that you feel?
Lastly, self denial and corruption is what I saw in all the Muslims I was raised around, be it family or friends. At age 3 my mother was murdered by men that were victims of poverty, and corruption among the police kept my family from being part of an investigation.
And no doubt Islam ENCOURAGES seeking knowledge, but how does it expect people to attain in when they're too busy praying or studying the Qur'an? You obviously lack the intelligence to understand the idea that human beings need to EVOLVE so that they can understand to give charity, help others, etc. They are unable to do this if they keep praying, which is no more than a physical exercise and mental/verbal recitement of phrases and passages from the Qur'an.
You say that we are busy studying the Quran and not helping others. It is the QURAN that encourages giving charity and helping others. Do you realise how your lack of knowledge about the Quran makes this discussion counter productive?

I say that because as long as you have money you can't allow automation. If a machine can do a man's work in a factory that man loses his job. No job? no money. No money? Can't purchase. Istead of putting a law banning drunk-driving, equip cars with radar, an ultrasensitive motion sensor and a computer that can drive the car instead of the drunk. So, that even if the drunk wants to crash into things he can't because the computer won't let him. That is a solution. Laws say don't do this. Solutions say you can't do this even if you tried. So, no there won't be chaos if solutions were implemented.

i think your fiscal views are interesting, but they would only cause more suffering im afraid, gold and silver cannot feed you or clothe you, and there is not enough to account for every man, woman, and child, much less every valuable resource available, if no interest is to be had, no one would loan money, and if there was something that was absolutely needed that you couldnt afford outright, then you would do without, the gold standard is obsolete, just as the fiat system is becoming

Thank you for this interesting response to Zeitgeist. I am pleased to see that others recognise simple methods for improving the world that are not so ultra-radical and require submission to the will of artificial intelligence, as that project seems to propose. Interest is made out to be the problem at one point in Zg, and the solution to have no money at all. Please can you clarify, though, if a man spends all his new income for a month on valuable possessions, does he avoid Zakat?

The sony company would have to set a price for it, but in what currency? Gold, silver, coconuts? What if I don't have the necessary item? It doesn't make sense whatsoever. While I'm not Moslem myself, I respect and cherish difference. I notice you didn't answer the other question that occured to me on watching your video. If a Moslem spends his money collecting stuff, does he avoid Zakat. It's not a big issue or a snide criticism; I'm just curious and want to learn more. But it does seem to undermine the benefit.

@freedeanna Yes. A Muslim does not have to pay zakat if he spends his income, and does not save it. This keeps the money in circulation.
But as I said, the mindset of a muslim is not materialistic, but a good Muslim would gladly give zakat, and voluntary charity is very much encouraged.
Spending money just to avoid zakat does not sound like something a sincere muslim would do. That would be like sleeping at day time when we are supposed to fast from sunrise to sunset... It nullifies it.

Islam is a Way of life, not only based on laws, but about beliefs of this life, and in the Hereafter. Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) taught us that if a person would have a valley of gold, he would want another. It never ends... He also taught that this life compared to the hereafter is like dipping your finger into an ocean, and pulling it out. The water clinging to your finger= this life. The rest of the ocean= the hereafter. We seek the Hereafter, not this life.

The Zeitgeist Movement has a theory that people will eventually be vastly unemployed and impoverished because there will be no work, as mechanization of the workplace will reduce the costs for businesses (they won't have to pay employees, only a minimal team of engineers to look after the mechanics of the system). What happens when all these unemployed people start relying on the Zakat? Can the Zakat take care of all of them?

You just don't really hear about those that are not, since they don't have leaders, money, etc. No "publicity", basically. I'm guessing you are a man of science; did you know that Einstein, Newton and many other great scientists believed in God? The only thing is, their definition of God was different from any existing religion at the time, so it was more or less ignored.

If God is almighty, why does he not send more prophets to convince the non believers? I'm sure if a couple more messengers of Allah came to the Earth now with technological findings 100 years ahead we would all be convinced that Islam is the right religion and Qur'an is the word of God.
Really, for what its worth, you can live your life in a perpetual state of self denial and believe in Islam and as long as you follow its teachings and help others you will be rewarded in your next life.

Well, God would then be spoiling us. He revealed all the messages and sent enough prophets. If he sent a prophet now it will be the same. There will be believers and disbelievers plus He said that Mohammad is the final messanger. The last message is fit until the end of time and there's no need for more. Anybody can use their brains now to either believe or not believe, that's the test and you have the tools to pass. God says in the Qur'an that if he wished it there will be no disbelievers.

I won't bother bringing up any of the other points because the credibility of all the information in those videos is lost after a relation as stupid as the one I have mentioned was made. The idea behind the video is to convince the weak and uneducated by intimidating them with all the knowledge the speaker has and making them feel dumb. When really anyone with a high school education can watch it and point out that the general and vague statements in the book do not match the discoveries.

Nebulous: I took your suggestion and watched the miracles of the Qur'an 1-8, and my comments could not be any different than those of the people who have posted on those videos. It is nothing but random sections referenced from the Qur'an and twisted to relate to scientific discoveries. My personal favorite was the 7 heavens' relation to the 7 layers that protect the earth from harmful foreign dangers. OH THEY'RE BOTH 7, SO THEY MUST BE THE SAME! sad attempt, to say the least.

You say you prayed and you never felt any connection, but God does not answer prayers of those who live as they like and go by the desires. One more thing, many people pray and all say they feel good about it. But lets look at this objectively, it is God Himself who should show us how HE wants us to pray to him. How did He do this? By sending many prophets to show us the true ways. Our prayer is consistent with the prayer of all prophets and their true followers. On the other hand are the Muslim countries which believe that human beings are so dumb that they need a book to live their lives by because they can't think for themselves. This leaves the strict enforcement of Sharia on the people (which are never given a chance to evolve) and most of them follow it out of fear or pretend to follow it when really they are uneducated and corrupt inside. This also leads to violence and terrorism carried out by those who use the religion for their own purposes.

Lets see, if we never followed Islam and instead focused on technology and industrial growth, we would have a successful nation and wouldn't have enough people willing to kill others for money. We would probably have well paid police officers that value their job enough to do it too...I.E. if I were born in say the US, Europe, Japan, or any other developed country that doesn't strictly follow a religion this probably wouldn't have taken place.

In order for an average person to follow Islam to the fullest you have to be damn near an ideal human being. Praying 5 times a day and studying the Qur'an and its teachings leaves little room for the intellectual growth that would give one proper understanding of why Sharia is the way it is.
Therefore most will try and follow it the best they can with no understanding which usually ends up putting one in a state of perpetual self denial and eventually corruption.

By entering Islam first. This is the way you will given spiritual life. Then you would learn how to pray and if you are a sincere heart, you will enjoy the prayer. As our bodies consume food to survive, the soul consumes good deeds incl prayers, and when a soul is made to raise to higher level due to the adherence to the guidelines of Islam, you will feel more Closeness with God and enjoy prayer.

Why did you ignore my previous comment? Please reply to verify that you are not in a state of self denial yourself.
Also, can you (to the best of your abilities) describe the "sweetness of prayer" that you feel?
Lastly, self denial and corruption is what I saw in all the Muslims I was raised around, be it family or friends. At age 3 my mother was murdered by men that were victims of poverty, and corruption among the police kept my family from being part of an investigation.

I don't know what there is and I would not attempt to try and make a guess with the small amount of information we have. It is all based on faith and I only have faith in myself. While Islam has many good points and is actually much more humanistic than many people understand, it is still a very strict religion which has been used to control the direction of certain countries and societies. It is also open to interpretation. Islam in Saudi Arabia is very different to Islam in say Morocco or America.

So 'OFF POINT' , from the 'TITLE' alone. Somehow the zeitgeist message is not resonating with the speakers in these responses. Of all the aspects of zeitgeist to address, it's laughable that the means of measuring 'wealth' is seemingly most important to these messengers. Why do we need a clear set of guidelines and rules in traffic? Without these regulations, there would be chaos.
God created us, and has shown us the perfect laws of governing ourselves. Islam is not only a religion, but a WAY of life, by which we know the Good and we can know whats bad for us. How we can know that this is from God, do research about the Quran and Mohammed (peace be upon him) and use your intellect.

Divinity is an empty distinction. In my personal opinion, and I don't mean to offend in saying so, but at the very foundation of mankind, religion separates people because people identify with it. When people identify with an idea or a belief, when the idea or belief is threatened then the individual is threatened. Its why people die in the name of religion. they associate the belief with their own identities. Since reality is emergent (changing) new ideas and beliefs will always be prevelant.

I dont need consciousness while some ppl dying from starving,getting enslaved of money. Plus they make world unliveable by polluting. May be one day they ll have a technology to move to mars do u think they ll take u with them ?
