It was dead in the road. So I skinned it used the meat and kept the hide for educational purposes. Most children and adults have not seen a mink close up. They hear horror stories about how aggressive they are and yet are surprised how small they are.
@razerbrax also mink are a none native species and have driven native species out of their areas so are legal to kill (even though Sean didn't actually kill it) also why not it is meat?
Mink? Naaaaa, like eating a coyotes, but, if you like it, go for it. Personally I would have to be really hungery to do that.....muskrat, mabye, but to eat that mustula family you would have to be hungry.....really hungry.
No offense dude, but I've been hunting for the past 20 yrs. I could have skinned 10 squirrels by the time you got done fartin around with that damn mink! tell the truth, that was the first time you ever skinned an animal wasn't it? BTW, I will purposefully run over a rabbit just so I can eat it, that's just how I roll. Hard economic times. Free meat baby!
No its no the first time I have skinned an animal but I am skinning it to keep the pelt. If I am skinning an animal for food then like many others I simply pull the skin off the animal. With this pelt I have kept the feet attached and removed all the skin including the head, nose, and whiskers.
I stand corrected! People in the U.S. scoff at the notion of eating road kill. You would be considered a " redneck hillbilly " for such an act. maybe if more Americans ate road kill they wouldn't be so damn fat. I'll take deer or bear meat over a big mac any day! :)
I would consider myself to be an excentric. I wouldnt mind the title of redneck hillbilly. To me they are people who live in the country and dont care what others think about them. What you see is what you get. That sounds good to me.
Ha! I consider myself a " country boy " rednecks have a tendency to inter breed and I would rather not marry my sister. :)The latter part of your comment certainly pertains to me though.
@gabrielemt1971 i think more scoff at eating carnivores road kill, to me is only good if you were there at the momment of impact, or, if still warm to the point of "Oh no, is this poor thing just knocked out?"
thats a brilliant idea to eat roadkill, i think its important that the animal dosnt just rot and become useless. if you eat it and keep its hide it think its respecting the animal alot. cheers for this idea
now i dont need to nag dad all year to get a rifle!
Hunting and gun laws in the UK are a pian. Although I know several hunting and trapping techniques I do not go hunting. I have no personal issues about hunting but just choose not to do it. I am happy to eat fresh road kill and do notsee any problem with it. Selecting the right kill is very important and it must be fresh. I had road kill deer last night for tea. 'Lovely',
just the leave the god damn animal alone.
