A lot of political science wisdom inside, but I really don't find any thing scientific... Generally speaking it is a very good talk, I am eager to see if the book gives any mathematic/logical deduction, or just some archiving of the events.
Must say, I enjoyed this very much, although one is left with a bleak outlook on the next couple of years, retrying neoliberalism will be a foul mistake, for one it will probably further destabilise the two-party system, after that breaks, who knows what will happen...remember that most American live in the vicinity of vast and available fire-arms, good luck guys!
@rvanreekum The government will almost certainly inflate away the debt. When we can't borrow and also can't manufacture anything, get ready for the good times.
Yeah man Americans make introductions so long I am not surprised they have so many illiterate people. It's 2010 and most people want the meat of the topic. If you just like to hear 2 guys making animal noises to each other fine. After 7 minutes I could not tell what the conversation was leading to and I did not want to waste another 53 minutes trying ti figure it.
Jeez. Please, try a bit of patience. The long introduction is the standard format for the interviews this Mr. Kreisler does. He has done over hundred of these interviews and he starts everyone with the same set of biographical questions. The people interviewed are often near the end of their professional lives and these questions often reveal real connections between the interviewees early life/familial circumstances and their thought/life's pattern.
Whatever happened to 15 minutes @ the computer screen then take a break for 2 or 5 minutes. I take my breaks and stay healthy. For the last 12 years I have seen what sitting @ the computer screen for hours does to people. We all have shorter attention spans than you imagine. It could be that I heard the same story told but it was short and sweet.
I accept your advice and encourage we all take breaks from the screen. But u can watch this over a few sessions. You can't compress some things into a short time slot without losing key details. When these interviews are v.good I will take notes & watch them at least twice. I like to see a whole unedited conversation esp. as TV rarely does this anymore. Can I suggest you consider that our attention span is not fixed but is the result of our habits i.e. it can be shortened or lengthen over time.
I think I am the type of person that searches for knowledge. I think everyone is like that. The thing I have noticed about YT is there is a lot of pseudo science dressed up as science. Pseudoscience attracts many people because they do not have to go through the long introductions. I must admit that even in school I found the science teaches boring but not the science it's self

It's a bit relaxed for my taste too but the content is absolutely vital! Fast forward past the intro if you are impatient.

It's the first time I see the new cc feature on youtube. Terrific. Automatic voice recognition... Many mistakes but it will become better. Fantastic.

" ... you have to first learn to be marginalized" wow, shall we finally kick the economists out of the academy? Not really a science, is it.

@rvanreekum The problem is that the people who can do math are idiots about policy and vice versa.
I assure that economics is INCREDIBLY necessary.
