  • Pretty lame. Ethanol isn't the answer, increased use of corn based ethanol assures that we'll continue to see increased food prices and as a result less bang for your buck across the board.

Open your eyes, you've been deceived.

  • thank god someone isnt brainwashed. People stop repeating what you hear from foolish celiebrities and actually research. You will find that weather patterns are a part of this earths history all the way back till it began. Stop letting democrats and celebrities use fear tactics to control the way you live your life.

  • biodiesel is actually a glorified way out of proportion,

the world's poor is feeling the heat,

every crop turned into fuel will make another child die of hunger. biodiesel is wasting space and resources, it is a better idea using that space for growing food.

normal people wont get too much probs from higher prices of food.

    the poor will.

today they could only afford a bowl of rice.

but when the prices go up?

  • Where is LEO???

  • Let's focus on a solution, and stop wasting time adapting an ineffective, costly to implement and small scale attempt at curbing the issue. (It's like throwing an anchor out into space in the hopes we snag something that can stop the world from spinning, so we could freeze time to think this through a little more).

I guess I could find a bigger analogy.

  • These big stars need to know the truth, think bigger... this is a global problem. Maize based fuel is a but a cork in a cracking Hover Dam (couldn't think of a 'bigger' analogy an American would understand.

FOr every energy unit (1) used to make maize based ethanol only 1.3 units is created.

  • Wow is this ever short sighted...

Think harder people... burning food is not the answer...

Hasn't anyone read Rolling Stone lately...

The US is the world's largest corn exporter, so let's burn our food now and let poorer nations feed themselves?

  • So while the rest of the world goes to the heart of the problem: car dependence, the greedy, ignorant, obese fucking americans are still stuck trying to find alternatives to cheap, abundand fossil fuels. The problem is greed, and the solution is consume less.

  • Doesn't Ben Affleck drive a Hummer?

  • Check out the other episodes from Clean My Ride. Sarah Silverman in episode 4 is a riot and Jenny Wade in episode 2 is awesome.

  • Too funny.

  • Yes, we gotta become free of "big (dirty) oil"; but this is just a commercial for big subsidized American corn boon doggles; meanwhile we won't import cheaper Brazilian ethanol.

Plug in hybrids should be produced by the million and SUV's need to be taxed, not subsidized by the IRS!

  • Hey how much does it cost to charge up a hybrid. Where do u charge them up at there is n.o places in my town

  • This is an excellent video. I found out about it reading the News Channel on the Wii. One solution I see for the global warming issue is to simply purchase a bicycle for short to medium trips instead of looking down on bicycles as a poor man's alternative for transportation. Bicycle = Zero Carbon Emmisions. (unless you pass-gas...)

  • Boston loves you Ben :]

  • This is better than Gigli, I'll give you that.

  • Dude looks like Lewis Black.

  • Very tongue-in-cheek. I like it.

    "I bring the fear!"

  • what people don't realized is that corn fuel will still produce co2 just like gasoline does, they are both made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen just in longer strands. running cars on corn and other such products would take massive amounts of corn, it would cost more and it would only get you (distance ways) about 3/4 as far as gasoline would. sorry to burst the bubbles but some people need to take chemistry

  • I'd only like to point out that Brazil already produces and distributes sucar cane-based ethanol (which is about six times more effective than corn-based ethanol, at least nowadays) in large scale for vehicles. Honestly, i think it's really great.

I'll change my oil-driven ride for a flex one, not because I want to save the Earth - we'll all die in 2012 anyway! The aliens said! -, but because it's way cheaper. And smells great too!

  • Mildly Amusing.

Why is it that all these environmental videos tell us to write congress or stop "big oil" rather than urge each individual to do the little things that can make a huge difference (live close to work or live in a reasonable sized house).

Frankly, if you live more than 15 minutes from work and you drive, you're part of the problem, and no amount of writing to congress or driving hybrids will fix that..

  • OK, not a great video--but not bad. It's great--and easy--to speak out against the oil companies, and it's even OK to put Ben Affleck in, I suppose, but many people have already shown that corn/ethanol isn't the answer: we'd have to blanket the country with corn to make enough fuel. "Flex-fuel" isn't the way to go.

  • Thanks for your comment. We here at the Center for American Progress Action Fund realize that ethanol is only one part of a much larger solution as we move beyond petroleum dependency. Our aim in these videos was not to single out ethanol as a "silver bullet" but to simply start discussion about and raise awareness of bio and flex fuels in general. And have a little fun in the process.

  • Why don't they make more cars that run of ethanol available? Or why don't they make cars for us that run on water or something? You know what I mean

  • Ben Affleck has got some kernels on him, I tell ya, boy!

  • It is about damn time!
