Monique Lhullier & Josie Natori, for example, on the international scene, but so many more current designers/couturiers that are waiting to be discovered. Also, I think the parameters for the Bb. Pilipinas should focus equally on beauty and brains - Miriam Quiambao was an excellent example of this.

I share fidanzato20's comment that BEAUTIFUL, FASHIONABLE, INTELLIGENT, ELOQUENT and EDUCATED Filipinas are not found in Manila alone. They abound in the countryside. However, most of them are snobbish socialites from Cebu, Davao, Negros, Zamboanga, Albay, Iloilo, Leyte, and from other Islands and Provinces, who shun pageants because pageants have lost prestige. Wow! I never thought the late Rosario "Chat" Silayan really looked that beautiful during her Miss Universe stint. I watched the MU 1980 videos a few days ago, and I was very much impressed with her performance. Though she may not have won that year, I found the standard for the successful campaign of a Filipina pageant campaign. She was such a package from her fashions to her poise and catwalk. Desiree Verdadero and Miriam Quiambao did the same in 1984 and 1999, respectively, and succeeded too.
