  • hihi ich bin total naja wie soll ich sagen reich

  • @JoniMargesc485

    schön für dich

  • I'm getting one of these for christmas, I've been fishing for 2 years and I live on the outskirts of the windy city. I think im'a get a lot of backlashes when I first use it.

  • if you get a backlash and you pull the line out and it stop 9 out of 10 times there will be a loop or many loops around the main line just pull the loops and your spool will turn a few times but when you go to pull out the backlash your line wont stop at the same point, you may have to do this once or twice though, but its much more effective

  • Great tips thanks

  • The tip with the drag was good. Personally, I love spincasters. Most of the choice between bait caster and spin is political. Conservatives love a baitcating reel and the 1911 .45 auto. Progressives go for a spincaster and a Glock. Why? Because a spincaster is much easier to learn, the baitcaster must be taught. If you loved and fished with your dad, how could you leave what he taught and go with the spin? Baitcaster- better winch. Spin simpler

  • 3 people got backlashes.

  • Hey. Will the thum trick work with braided line? Like spider wire?

  • Soooo im new to baitcasters. Ive used spinning reels my whole life. I was just wondering what is the advantage of a baitcaster over the spinning reel? Ive never had problems with spinning just seems easier.

  • @jrmendoza7 more power, more torque, more distance when casting, and more accuracy when casting. basically a baitcaster is better for everything except say finesse fishing. try baitcasters out and you'll see what i mean. they really aren't hard to use.

  • @jyankeesrock yea ive been using a baitcaster now for a couple of weeks. After i finally figured out how to keep from getting backlash. I have to say i will probably never go back to a spinning reel.

  • I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM when i cast it just goes straight to the groung and im casting pretty soft with just the elbow, and other time the line kepps coming out and doing that bird nest thing how do i cast how do i fix this proble plz help thanks

  • @GcRiDakOts prob your brakes to tight their are 2 things loosen them and give it a niceflike

  • Like it you searched this video because your don't know how to use baitcaster and your line tangled up. Like me :D

  • ya i wish i would have know this before i tired using it.... would have saved 2 hours of my time.

  • this guy just stopped me from selling my bait caster thankz

  • whats the advantages of using a baitcaster

  • this video should help me greatly

  • Great tip with the tape.

  • roost, backlashes, bird nest... w/e you call them i hate them and they are sooo very attracted to me its annoying. this video helped heaps, which in my case means io get 3-4 cast before a nest so big i switch back to my spinner lol, yet out on the banks alone, i wouldnt change a thing. you gotta love fishing, to love fishing. real anglers understand

  • Helped me sooo much , Thank you !

  • so you dont keep your thumb on the spool while its actualy casting? just when it hits the water?

  • @nathon28 you put your thumb on it very, very, very lightly or not at all, but usually lightly, it seems to help backlashes

  • @nathon28

keep your thumb on it at all times barely applying pressure only when you are using light spinnerbaits or other similar lures. like he said, if a gust of wind comes, it will give you a backlash no matter if your bill dance or some noob. this is more likely to happen when you have a lighter bait on, so keeping your thumb on w light ones will reduce the risk. heavier baits just get your timing down so that right as it hits the water, you put your thumb back, that way the reel will stop.

  • Thank you Mike for all your help. I just started to use a baitcaster 4 day ago and I tell you it was hard at first, I kept getting backlashes and I was going to give up. Then when I saw your video everything you explained made me really gud wit it. So thank you Mike.

  • Great video. VERY INFORMATIVE. I've been fishing for years but I'd like to try using a baitcast set-up.

  • Great Video! Thanks alot! Im just 14 and beginning to learn to fish with a baitcaster. This has helped me alot!!

  • Thanks alot Mike!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to figure these things out for a while. This 5 minute clip was like the Rosetta Stone of baitcasters. With a couple of hours of practice after watching this I have made more progress than in the last 2 years. Still need a lot more practice but I can now confidently grab the rod with both hands and swing for the fences, even into the wind. Still get minor backlashes but nothing that can't be fixed with by pulling out a few yards of line.

  • And surprisingly the backlash trick has worked so far for any that back off wouldn't fix.

  • good job! very informative. i didnt no about the tension and the magnet thing and how to test it b4 throwing. imma try luring tmw again!

  • I'm new to using baitcasters and this is hands down the most helpful and useful video I've come across. Thank you!

  • very helpfull!! now i know what im buying my next stop at the fishing store

  • thanks alot

  • he kinda sounds like Bill Dance

  • is that birds nest tip bad for the reel? just wonderin, some1 told me it was bad for the gears, just curious, plz and ty

  • @HATINTHEKAT I wouldn't think so, its no different then fighting a fish with drag.

  • @HuskerFishing thx, sum dude posted on another video saying something about it strippijng the gears and that made me so scared haha, my baby =[, babies i mean

  • Mike Webb, excellent presentation! Well done!

  • Thumbs up

  • Really appreciate the information, especially the tape on spool

  • This video is awesome. It should help me out considerably.

  • whenever i cast the spool seemes to spin faster than the lure goes out. any help?

  • @FishinFool513 your tension and or brake settings aren't set correctly

  • @FishinFool513 Go heavy on the tension at first and then back off slowly as you get more confident. I had the same problem.

  • Great video, helped me out alot

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God bless you, you helped me out so much

  • i can only cast like ten yards is my lure to light its a 1/8oz

  • @sniperbait171 Definitely. Try lightening up on the breaks if you have them.

  • @nmigliore ok thanks

  • GOD!!!!!! THANK YOU for the backlash tip that was SOOOO helpful, saves time, money, frustration and yea, more fishing time,

  • fantastic vid... unfortunately at this time in my life there are two things i want, a new pair of shoes for work, or a baitcaster. Both are $70, i can only choose one, what do i do?

  • @jumar1281 BAITCASTER all the way!!

  • @jumar1281 if u hav a baitcaster alrdy id go with the new shoes cuz old shoes can make ppl talk about u and or they can stink or look bleh, but that baitcatser would be tempting, shoes tho or get a 20 dollar pair of shoes and a 50 baitcaster from ebay, shoes for me tho

  • THANK YOU.

  • I am just beginning on a BC, great tips.

  • These reels are junk. I want to fish not fuck around with the reel all day. Thank you for my Abu Garcia.

  • @Hats1976 ABU GARCIA!!! AMEN TO THAT BRO!

  • good tip using the tape, il have to use that next time, im not prone to backlashes, but man its a real headache when they happen.

  • Great video - thank you very much for posting thi. I just bought a baitcaster and became pretty flustered trying to mke it work smootly. This video and some practice and it's already a LOT more comfortable.

  • Every time I saw a video on how to do this I thought the person was thumbing it the whole time as you cast it. Now I know what I was doing wrong. Thanks!

  • i've been deeply fascinated with baitcasters since I was a kid...

almost all of my bass fishing is with a baitcasting reel now...I'm even teaching my girlfriend how to use one haha

I don't understand why someone would be freaked out by baitcasting reels...once you get used to them, they're every bit as easy do deal with as a spinning reel

  • thanks for the tips mike. i bought a bait caster yesterday and today i went fishing and a few back lashes but because of the tips they were no problem to get out. Thanks

  • Clean and carry spare line !

  • thanks Mike-I was just about to mothball my baitcast reel-I will try your tips esp the electricl tape rig- Thanks again

    calvin,

    cadis,pa

  • ...

    Great info, great presentation. Thanks.

  • that last tip to get your line untangled works like a charm. I had a baitcaster that I got brand new and never used one before and got a horrible birds nest. I got pissed off and left it like that until the following summer and saw this tip on youtube. Tried it out and it took me three tries and all the tangles came loose...completely dumbfounded me!

  • Just bought a baitcaster reel and this video has been tremendously helpful - thank you.

  • nice tips on that....

  • that was cool!

  • Great stuff! Thank you!

  • what is backlash???

  • @firefox1341 when your line get's all tangled up cause it was moving too much

  • @yoasianguykid Oh Thanks.

  • great video!

  • very helpful video mike! can u tell me how many pound and the diameter of braided line should i use for my bait cast and my spinning reel( i usually go for bass and pike weight up to 3 to 6 pounds)

  • @pikeangler145 I USED A 50 POUND TEST BRAID ITS REAL GOOD SPECIAL IF YOU FISH IN HARD COVER OR WEED I LOVE IT ITS ESE TO WORK CHEK MY VIDEOS

  • thank you, great video. and very helpfull

  • amazing

  • is there any benifit at all to these things? i bought one and im hating it. if i knew you had to go though all this BS to use it i would have bought something else thats easier to use. i hope the store will take it back

  • Outstanding video. Thank you so much

  • You can't watch a video then go out and become a baitcasting master .. the only way is to go out and throw around

  • Hey great video theese tips really helped me out with my Megaforce twichin bar!

  • watch my vid on baitcast and rate, comment thx

  • this is a great video, thanks for all the helpful tips!

  • that was the most helpful video ever. when i use a baitcast i always have a backlash

  • thank you it help out

  • thanks for the video learn a lot

  • thx sir by far the best vid on this

  • Your tips have helped me greatly when learning the baitcaster. It is my favorite reel now. Thank you.

    Carlos

  • Just use a open face

  • so depending on the weight you adjust the drag to allow the lure not to drop to fast like he had it?

  • thANK YOU!

  • Thank you soo much its about time a professional gives good information about this topic

  • yea its a good video for begginers to start off with i started off my bait casting career with this but ended up going my own way i dont even use that method of clearing backlashes anymore

  • Wow, great video! You should enter your video into this contest, Ewisdomtv

  • mikecamp: you can still get wind knots with spinning reels.

  • Solution #2, buy a open face and never deal with backlash ever again.

  • ever since i watched this i havent had a problem wat so ever

  • cheers mike im not regretting buying my bait-caster so much now....it's gona be a long round but i'll get there

  • @loooodoooog felt the exact same way when i bought my first one,it isnt as long a ride as u think, youll get the hang of it:D

  • that was extremely informative. thank you

  • best video on baitcast! 5/5 thank you sir

  • the most informative bait casting video on youtube.

    thanks.

  • Does any body know how to put in the fishing string on the baitcast?

  • yes, there r videos on here to show u, its very easy :)

  • well thats what im gonna do

  • If it wasnt for videos like these i would be lost ha ha ha.

  • i use braided line and every time i can never throw far enough beacuse it always burns my thumb any tips? (im 11)

  • When I use a spinning rod and reel I cast with my right hand and reel with my left. I notice that with bait casters ppl cast with the right hand then switch the rod to the left and reel with the right. Would it be better for me to just get a baitcaster with the reel on the left?

  • same for me, i bought a bait caster with the reel on left. it works for me :)

  • great video!

  • Tried to use my daiwa megaforce with

6'6" berkley shock series lightning rod...

practiced for a bit but could not cast more than about 20-30 ft... Tuned reel as videos say but nothing... Any suggestions please?

  • @DMetal13 Check your locks behind your side plate and unlock a few but make sure you do the same on both sides... Let me know what happens?

  • I tried to take the side plate off to do so but i can't seem to do it =/

Does it come off all baitcasters and doesn't that make the range shorter???

  • It should come with a manual but if not google your reel manual and there should be a way to your magnetic locks and the more locks that are active will shorten your cast and the more locks that are unlocked will increase your cast

  • Thanks. I'll check it out.

  • Dmetal, a great starting baitcaster to use is the pflueger president reel, its a easy reel to learn the anti backlash works great and it wont break the bank. just remember that you always get what you pay for.

  • thanks. already got a diawa megaforce =/

havnt got the chance to use it yet but i've heard nothing but good about it.

  • Probably the most helpful video out there to teach novices the essentials of a baitcaster. That a boy mike.

  • @AlienWorkJosh thats ma nygga mike!

  • wowza.... Nice..

  • Thanks. Great video.

Looking for first baitcaster and not sure what to buy...

Got any ideas that won't empty my pockets please let me know.

  • do you americans use braid line on bait casters?? us australians seems to use braid line on bait casters most of the time. maybe because braid lines dont really curl up as much wen casted out??

  • I often used braid when I fished in heavy cover and thick weeds and what not so I wouldn't snap the line on snags..

  • Good video, well made and simple to understand. Top tips too 5*****

  • great video 5*

  • i just bought my first baitcaster and this video helps alot

  • this just realy helped me i used to burn my finger bu know i know that i have to titen the apool

  • youve converted all viewers to right-hand wind multiplier-mistake

-acheing arms after an hours casting left hand multiplier is so much more comfortable and natural, just like

    left-hand fixed-spool reels at least

    95 %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% of fishermen use

-drives me crazy, this 50+ year American CON of right-hand multis

give yurself heart attacks pumpin fish (the heavy work) with your weaker left arm,and winding in with your stronger right arm

    -totally illogical

  • thats a bit harsh mate, I use a left and multiplier and right hand my fixed spool, it's called choice... this guy is only showing easy cast and backlash get out, people will work out whats right for them and most are indepedent enough not to be influenced just because he's using one, perhaps he's got a prob wiht his other arm or just prefers it... chill mate and enjoy fishing...

  • what is the advantade of CHANGING HANDS (to right hand wind) after casting-why change from FIXED SPOOL

casting and winding in system-sorry there is no good answer, and you will not convince me however MINUS marks you put on my

    extremely logical comment

I have had compliments from so many people

on this obvious error, including one pro-fisherman

    from USA

  • You're still missing the point of the vid, it's to help with casting and backlash. if people have picked the wrong reel it's still their choice.didn't put any minus points on yur comment, so stop reading things in, and yes, i do have a good reason for using one left and one right because of joint probs, others may find tiredness causes them to want to alternate. sound comment and sound reason for it, enjoy your fishing and open your mind. no reason to reply, i won't waste my time answering again

  • one other thing darkmoose you've been insulting and age racist when all the mans has done is help, if you look at the comments i'm sure others will agree... give your self heart attacks, man you are funny... take care and enjoy your fishing

  • yeah i am left handed and i use a right handed reel. i find it is way better to use my main hand to guide the rod and pull the fish, while my less used hand just winds the line in.

  • holy crap this vid could not hav helped me more

  • this vid helped me out A LOT when i got my first baitcaster. do what this guy tells you and you will have it down in no time.

  • thanks. great video. very imformative.

  • gr8 vid, backlashes happens 2da best of us

  • Outstanding!

  • A clear and complete vid. Mike, you really 'splained it, thanks

  • i watched this video and got a 100 dollar rapalla yeah rapalla out of 1000 casts in 2 days 1 backlash and it was because i hit a leaf but igot it out i found releasing the lure over your head no picture shoot a basket ball from the freethrow line flick the rod tip and point at the target its actually easy i used four brakes 12 pound test set the mag to just where the lure kinda falls then back the dial back an 8th of an inch cheers!

  • thanks it helped alot

  • great video. think im gonna get myself a baitcaster

  • 5* great video Im doing pretty good one thing baitcasters suck for is night time fishing cause you have to see your lure to stop it before it hits the water. Good thing i still have a closed reel if i don't get good with this ill return it but it doesnt seem that hard and ill just have another rod ready for nighttime.

  • great video thanks

  • great vid

  • That was very very good tips im a beginner and i hav a okay baitcast rod and reel and i through alot better thxxxx!!!!!!:)))))))))

  • Does the thumb trick for the bird's nest work with braided line? Otherwise i'll just stick to my pinch and pull method.

  • Awesome advice for a newbie. Thanks Mike.

  • I've never heard of the electrical tape trick! Sounds great! Question for everyone. I have no money for a boat and fished all last year from my tiny undersized kayak. I loved it, but I want to get out there on a boat. Is it tough to be a non-boater in local scenes?

  • buy a sevylor fish hunter 360 or which ever you want they run under $200 imma be buying one soon gotta save up since i just got my baitcaster

  • that electrical tape really works, I recommend to everyone

  • we call them birds nest here

  • same here in tn

  • thanks great help

  • That was a great tip. Gonna help me undoubtedly.

  • Great tips. thanks

  • I have also found that with a backlash you can look down and see where the loop formed over the line going out through the eye going to the rod. Reach down, pinch that loop and gently pull it out. This works for me to pull them out quite easily and smoothly. Normally it just takes once or twice unless you really get it bad.

  • i just bought a baitcaster rod and reel but im not sure how to put my line on it it wouldent wind up and ideas on what to do?

  • your drag is all the way off. tighten it up and itll start to turn..mine did the same thing. i was puzzled at first. lol

  • Awesome Tips!

    Thanks

  • Even for those who have been using baitcxasters for years, we need to be retrained sometimes. If I have to cast into the wind, I have learned to feather the spool. It really helps out. Of course you know this, but as the others learn as they go along. Thanks for the lesson.

  • thanks for the great tip!
