i just got the MUF HD and i LOVE IT. i was told you can use wedges, or the brush (paint brush looking thing) and honestly, it's so much better. The brush allows you to use less product and gives you enough and full coverage. But of course whatever suits you. The use of the wedges did look as if you needed to apply more product when it was totally unnecessary. Nowadays, less is more and NATURAL is the way to go. so i prefer MUFE.
you guys should leave her alone,let her use what she wants, she look amazing♥ with both you don't have to use a brush for foudation i don't i use my fingers and she does not like that she likes the spongee!!!!
Personally I love makeup forever and I used to use M.A.C this blends are not good for my skin tone so i will use makeup forever from time to time but my true love is Mary Kay foundation or bare essentials.
I think the reason you think it looks 'ashy' is because the MAC side is darker and looks more orange than the MUFE side. Overall I think the MUFE side looks MUCH better!

It matches better and the finish looks great/better! Very natural. My opinion.... I think natural looking foundation/powder is the way to go. Who wants to look like they're wearing foundation & powder on their face? Not me. If it gives coverage and looks invisible, I'm so for it! It makes you look like you're not "trying" and you just "have it."

MUFE matched your skin better!!!! The MAC was too dark... after 8 hours the MAC had you looking sweaty and oily but the make up forever was still matte.... maybe it is the camera. i don't know... that is just my opinion!

hey ateyaaa, u shuld try a lighter color with your mac, maybe the NC45 would better go with your skin, I am a bit darker than you and I wear NC45, so you just cant wear NC50 its way too dark. Dont forget that the foundation darkens after application, that's why your NC50 is so dark on you. Hope this helps.

The HD color looks more natural, but it did look ashy at first. The MAC gives you a consistent bronzy tan. I guess it depends on your mood. I would say HD for day MAC for night. I have dark almost blue black skin (in the summer) and MAC is too light & orange for me. Makeup Forever is the only foundation I've found that is close to my color. Great video!
I like Sheer Miracle's Extreme CloseUp HD Mineral Finishing Powder as a primer. Its identical to MUFE HD Microfinish Powder but much cheaper. You can get it on Amazon or Sheer Miracle's website.

I actually believe that the MUFE side of your face blends better with your skin tone. When looking at the MAC side it seems a lil dark to me. STOP using a sponge to apply your HD foundation. You need to use a stippling brush to buff the round HD pigments into your skin. Also, HD powder is made from 100% silica mineral, you need just a pinch of it for the entire face.
The HD powder was applied waaaaaaaaaay too heavy, that's where you get the ashiness... it's also supposed to be applied in downward strokes NOT buffed or stippled... once again LESS is more!
I think you'll like the product much more that way, give it a try ... I also love my M.A.C. products too... thanks for the review :)
Yea, i thnk that the for ever 21 had an ashy dryish type look and the mac was more moisture looking, and more natural..IN MY OPINION!! but hey..=) 2 each is own.
To mysoncarl I agree with you, I tried to like M.A.C face powders and compacts, honestly I did. I sampled every compact and in the container and on my skin it looked orange/red and I have yellow undertones in my skin. I did try NC 50/NC 55...So I just go to Bobbi Brown one time! It doesn't make me look like an Oompa Loompa and it does not turn darker!
The MAC looks darker and has a more red undertone. You're right though, the MUFE has more of a natural skin look : however, the only thing is when you applied the HD power you appeared to have a little too much on your brush and that is what created the ash. I found that out the hard way myself. A little bit like a tap or two goes a long long way. With that being said, I would recommend buying the HD powder for $15 out of Sephora store v the $30 dollar one.
Hi there!.First of all,I would say it was not a fair comparison,simply because your method of application for both products were different.You should have applied them both using the same method.secondly the (MUFE) could have been simply the wrong shade for your particular skin tone.Thirdly you may have applied the (MUFE) HD finishing powder to heavily,it states that a little goes a long way.Also I personally love the all natural(naturel) look and feel to my makeup.
I think MUFE allowed the golden undertone of your skin to show, MAC was nice but gave off a reddish hue. Although im light brown I have a golden/yellow undertone & I cant find a MAC color that compliments my skintone they all make me look reddish. I tried Perscriptives in color Antelope & it's ok. Ateyaaa, You are my Girl. But girl i am not gone lie, The Make-Up Forever HD looks so much better on you. It looks better than the MAC to me. The ideal of wearing Foundation in my opinion is so you can look flawless in all aspects and the only way to be flawless is to be natural. The eyeshadow and blush is were you want to stand out. There is no comparison MUFE HD is in a class of it's own. You used waaaaayyyyyy too much product. The norm is 1 maybe 1 1/2 pumps. It is designed to look like skin. It's probably ashen because you have the incorrect foundation #. Sounds as if you have the wrong undertone. There are 25 colors and although two or three may appear the same, the undertones vary.
I love MUFE and it looks a whole lot better in photos and video/film than M.A.C. My face looks greasy in photos with MAC. MUFE mattes and gets rid of visible pores in photography.

Wow MUFE must be amazing if it still looks natural on you after three pumps for half of your face.I use one and a half pumps for my whole face and Im good.
I love visiting your channel! I've tryed alot of brands over the last 20yrs and MAC is the front runner for most categories except; face. I've got oily and blemished skin and although their cream-powder gives excellent coverage it feels heavy and streaky. My picks; Smashbox lite primer and cream-powder foundation followed by MUFE hd powder(kabuki brush) and mist and fix. I love these products and love you sweets.
You're beautiful but this was a bad comparison between the two brands. You used far too much HD Powder with a brush that gives very heavy coverage. I fluffier brush and a lighter application would have helped. On the Mac side MSFN in Dark deposited a lot of color. It looked much darker than the MUFE side. If you wanted to compare the HD Powder to a similar Mac powder you should have gone with their Prep & Prime Invisible powder.
you should try the 175 like Kytila recommended since she had the same ashy problem.... what im thinking is why are you using a sponge? you waste so much more makeup!! FINGERS darling! aside from not wasting makeup the application is more precise . also keep in mind that MUFE is buildable, if you would like a more full coverage just add another layer. U have great skin and you obviously don't need really full coverage =)but its great for those to know that you CAN get a fulll coverage with MUFE.
Hillarious i did this today then stumbled across your video later lol... i think you should use mufe 175 though, i used 177 as well which came off ashy... im nc50 and yellow based. 175 works better for sheer during the summer. x
personly i think you should start doing a lighter tone under the eye and a lil under the eyebrow the shape of your nose and then blend with the mac skin tone becouse that for me is the shit!

also, you dont have to use so much of the hd powder, you sort of packed it on and rubbed it in as apposed to buffing it into your skin...i have noticed that african american woman tend to not like the powder because they say they get that "ashy" effect--they can also use the mufe spray set that is also used for setting bridal makeup
also, mufe hd foundation is a buildable foundation that doesnt look cakey when you put more on! you also dont feel it as well. i love their primer--amazing!
WITH THE HD powder ...it's giving you a gray cast b/c u picked up alot of it....try picking up like half of what you usually do...i promise u;ll see a huge difference....i'm pale as hell i could dump that whole thing on my face lmao...but for a woman with a deeper complexion i always find that i have to be more careful with the amount of powder i use.....tell me if u end up using this and let me know how it works:) p.s ur gorgeous....amazing skin.

wet your sppnge before you use it...the sponge will absorb the product which is why u need 3 pumps....i promise u don't need 3 pumps....especially with your skin ...u don't seem to have problematic skin...u look very even.
I like them both as being a makeup artist I know that no one is all one shade of color. I would definately use the two shades for natural highlighting and shading. I don't one color, some parts of me have olive undertone and others have red. they are both very good brands and I have both in my kit. I use hd for photo shoots and spf for outside or live performances.
I use make up forever primer, liquid hd foundation, power foundation to set, & then the hd finishing powder. I only put a little bit of the hd finishing power cuz if you use too much gets too white. I have to say HD is the best in pictures! I went out clubbing & my girlfriends use MAC & I used makeupforever HD. My make up looks so much clearer & more vivid than my girls that wore MAC. So, I think if you're going to be taking pics, use make up forever! Kim K uses it &her make up is flawless
Can you please do more videos on foundation. I currently using Avon Perfect Wear in toffee. But I am considering Makeup Forever. Avon is okay. They really don't have a lot of shades in deep. Toffee makes my look kinda of orange.
It would be best if you used both. in the mufe you have the wrong shade, try one thats slighty deeper with redish undertone and the mac is to deep and orangy. so since youve already purchases them, you can use the hd on as a highlighter and the mac a contour then set them both with the mac mineral!

also forgot to say that I think you have the wrong shade of Make Up For Ever HD! #177 is a cooler more olive shade (not you). That's probably why it looks 'ashy'. You are probaby more of a #173 perhaps. Also the HD powder is very potent and I think you used WAY too much of it, which affects results.
for better and more acurate comparison you should've used Make Up For Ever's HD primer on the Make Up For Ever side, instead of MAC's prep and prime on the whole face. Already you've altered the results on the MUFE side!
I finally went to Sephora to try the HD. The lady at the counter matched me and gave me 3 shade samples to take home. My skin looked so ashy, I'm so glad I didnt purchase. I will continue to use my MAC or whatever other brand I choose. This was not for me.
I do like the HD for the sheerness, if i wore makeup everyday, i would wear that however, when i wear it HD makes my face break out. So i usually wear Mac, it makes my face look complete and i don't break out

You are comparing products that are for two completely different purposes.
The Makeup Forever HD is for a more invisible coverage and is widely used on film/tv. It's gives a very natural finish and is a buildable foundation (meaning you can layer it if you want/need more coverage)
The MAC studio fix fluid is max coverage that gives a completely matte finish.
It would be fair to compare the MAC studio fix fluid to the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet, or MAC Select or Face and Body foundation.
MAC doesn't have a glow ... I find it to be just greasy. Even with the studio FX .. it still doesn't work for people with oily skin. after a 30mins of wear you look like you just fried an egg on your face :|
yea and thats just any liquid foundation for me. since i have oily skin i use the photofinish powder and it does work...use it with a concealer and you are good to go and it looks natural too

I love the warm glow the mac gives you..but i also like the makeup forever.. What is good about makeup forever though is that it takes 15 minutes for makeup to really set in the skin and usually its best to apply a slightly lighter foundation (like the makeup forever one) so when it sets in it'll match perfectly with your skin..verses the mac makeup after 15 mins will make you look a bit darker..either way both foundations are great!

I think they both give you good coverage. However, though Mac darkens you just a bit (which doesn't look bad by the way) it gives your skin a nice, warm glow. Makeup Forever does give you flawless coverage but thats about it. Go with the Mac.

To mysoncarl I agree with you, I tried to like M.A.C face powders and compacts, honestly I did. I sampled every compact and in the container and on my skin it looked orange/red and I have yellow undertones in my skin. I did try NC 50/NC 55...So I just go to Bobbi Brown one time! It doesn't make me look like an Oompa Loompa and it does not turn darker!

The MAC looks darker and has a more red undertone. You're right though, the MUFE has more of a natural skin look : however, the only thing is when you applied the HD power you appeared to have a little too much on your brush and that is what created the ash. I found that out the hard way myself. A little bit like a tap or two goes a long long way. With that being said, I would recommend buying the HD powder for $15 out of Sephora store v the $30 dollar one.

Hi there!.First of all,I would say it was not a fair comparison,simply because your method of application for both products were different.You should have applied them both using the same method.secondly the (MUFE) could have been simply the wrong shade for your particular skin tone.Thirdly you may have applied the (MUFE) HD finishing powder to heavily,it states that a little goes a long way.Also I personally love the all natural(naturel) look and feel to my makeup.

I think MUFE allowed the golden undertone of your skin to show, MAC was nice but gave off a reddish hue. Although im light brown I have a golden/yellow undertone & I cant find a MAC color that compliments my skintone they all make me look reddish. I tried Perscriptives in color Antelope & it's ok. I am going to try MUFE now. These make-up companies need to GIVE you all product for free & hire you tour & promote their products b/c u are real people girl. Love Ya - Tee in No. California

Ateyaaa, You are my Girl. But girl i am not gone lie, The Make-Up Forever HD looks so much better on you. It looks better than the MAC to me. The ideal of wearing Foundation in my opinion is so you can look flawless in all aspects and the only way to be flawless is to be natural. The eyeshadow and blush is were you want to stand out. If you understand what iam trying to say.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation is the best. I hate MAC prouducts. Too chakey and they make you look fake. Its not a natutal look. Good review.

There is no comparison MUFE HD is in a class of it's own. You used waaaaayyyyyy too much product. The norm is 1 maybe 1 1/2 pumps. It is designed to look like skin. It's probably ashen because you have the incorrect foundation #. Sounds as if you have the wrong undertone. There are 25 colors and although two or three may appear the same, the undertones vary.

I love MUFE and it looks a whole lot better in photos and video/film than M.A.C. My face looks greasy in photos with MAC. MUFE mattes and gets rid of visible pores in photography.

Wow MUFE must be amazing if it still looks natural on you after three pumps for half of your face.I use one and a half pumps for my whole face and Im good.

I love visiting your channel! I've tryed alot of brands over the last 20yrs and MAC is the front runner for most categories except; face. I've got oily and blemished skin and although their cream-powder gives excellent coverage it feels heavy and streaky. My picks; Smashbox lite primer and cream-powder foundation followed by MUFE hd powder(kabuki brush) and mist and fix. I love these products and love you sweets.

You're beautiful but this was a bad comparison between the two brands. You used far too much HD Powder with a brush that gives very heavy coverage. I fluffier brush and a lighter application would have helped. On the Mac side MSFN in Dark deposited a lot of color. It looked much darker than the MUFE side. If you wanted to compare the HD Powder to a similar Mac powder you should have gone with their Prep & Prime Invisible powder.

you should try the 175 like Kytila recommended since she had the same ashy problem.... what im thinking is why are you using a sponge? you waste so much more makeup!! FINGERS darling! aside from not wasting makeup the application is more precise . also keep in mind that MUFE is buildable, if you would like a more full coverage just add another layer. U have great skin and you obviously don't need really full coverage =)but its great for those to know that you CAN get a fulll coverage with MUFE.

Hillarious i did this today then stumbled across your video later lol... i think you should use mufe 175 though, i used 177 as well which came off ashy... im nc50 and yellow based. 175 works better for sheer during the summer. x

personly i think you should start doing a lighter tone under the eye and a lil under the eyebrow the shape of your nose and then blend with the mac skin tone becouse that for me is the shit!

i agree with a lot of the ppl posting...either apply your foundation with a brush or your fingertips because a sponge is going to eat up your product! no no! lol
also, you dont have to use so much of the hd powder, you sort of packed it on and rubbed it in as apposed to buffing it into your skin...i have noticed that african american woman tend to not like the powder because they say they get that "ashy" effect--they can also use the mufe spray set that is also used for setting bridal makeup

WITH THE HD powder ...it's giving you a gray cast b/c u picked up alot of it....try picking up like half of what you usually do...i promise u;ll see a huge difference....i'm pale as hell i could dump that whole thing on my face lmao...but for a woman with a deeper complexion i always find that i have to be more careful with the amount of powder i use.....tell me if u end up using this and let me know how it works:) p.s ur gorgeous....amazing skin.

wet your sppnge before you use it...the sponge will absorb the product which is why u need 3 pumps....i promise u don't need 3 pumps....especially with your skin ...u don't seem to have problematic skin...u look very even.

I like them both as being a makeup artist I know that no one is all one shade of color. I would definately use the two shades for natural highlighting and shading. I don't one color, some parts of me have olive undertone and others have red. they are both very good brands and I have both in my kit. I use hd for photo shoots and spf for outside or live performances.

I use make up forever primer, liquid hd foundation, power foundation to set, & then the hd finishing powder. I only put a little bit of the hd finishing power cuz if you use too much gets too white. I have to say HD is the best in pictures! I went out clubbing & my girlfriends use MAC & I used makeupforever HD. My make up looks so much clearer & more vivid than my girls that wore MAC. So, I think if you're going to be taking pics, use make up forever! Kim K uses it &her make up is flawless

Can you please do more videos on foundation. I currently using Avon Perfect Wear in toffee. But I am considering Makeup Forever. Avon is okay. They really don't have a lot of shades in deep. Toffee makes my look kinda of orange.

It would be best if you used both. in the mufe you have the wrong shade, try one thats slighty deeper with redish undertone and the mac is to deep and orangy. so since youve already purchases them, you can use the hd on as a highlighter and the mac a contour then set them both with the mac mineral!

also forgot to say that I think you have the wrong shade of Make Up For Ever HD! #177 is a cooler more olive shade (not you). That's probably why it looks 'ashy'. You are probaby more of a #173 perhaps. Also the HD powder is very potent and I think you used WAY too much of it, which affects results.

173 is for dark skin with a dark olive undertone. She clearly has yellow/golden undertones.
I just set the Hd with mac mineralize and it looks amazing.

for better and more acurate comparison you should've used Make Up For Ever's HD primer on the Make Up For Ever side, instead of MAC's prep and prime on the whole face. Already you've altered the results on the MUFE side!

I finally went to Sephora to try the HD. The lady at the counter matched me and gave me 3 shade samples to take home. My skin looked so ashy, I'm so glad I didnt purchase. I will continue to use my MAC or whatever other brand I choose. This was not for me.

I do like the HD for the sheerness, if i wore makeup everyday, i would wear that however, when i wear it HD makes my face break out. So i usually wear Mac, it makes my face look complete and i don't break out

Wow, well you have just shown me that the girl in the mac store gave me the wrong color for the mineralize skinfinish powder. In studio fix fluid, im NC 50 and she gave me the medium deep powder. Now I see, i need the dark. I liked the mac side better. Great Video!!!!

You are comparing products that are for two completely different purposes.
The Makeup Forever HD is for a more invisible coverage and is widely used on film/tv. It's gives a very natural finish and is a buildable foundation (meaning you can layer it if you want/need more coverage)
The MAC studio fix fluid is max coverage that gives a completely matte finish.
It would be fair to compare the MAC studio fix fluid to the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet, or MAC Select or Face and Body foundation.

MAC doesn't have a glow ... I find it to be just greasy. Even with the studio FX .. it still doesn't work for people with oily skin. after a 30mins of wear you look like you just fried an egg on your face :|

yea and thats just any liquid foundation for me. since i have oily skin i use the photofinish powder and it does work...use it with a concealer and you are good to go and it looks natural too

I love the warm glow the mac gives you..but i also like the makeup forever.. What is good about makeup forever though is that it takes 15 minutes for makeup to really set in the skin and usually its best to apply a slightly lighter foundation (like the makeup forever one) so when it sets in it'll match perfectly with your skin..verses the mac makeup after 15 mins will make you look a bit darker..either way both foundations are great!

I think they both give you good coverage. However, though Mac darkens you just a bit (which doesn't look bad by the way) it gives your skin a nice, warm glow. Makeup Forever does give you flawless coverage but thats about it. Go with the Mac.
