to be honest no japanese actor that i have seen is really cute/handsome/gorgeous that is comparable to other actors/singers of korea and taiwan. but as far as acting is concerned, i believe oguri shun and yamapi are really good actors. for the rest i dont know

There's always Kaname Jun, Fujiki Naohito, Tetsuji Tamayama, Nagase Tomoya, Abe Hiroshi, Junichi Okada, Matsuyama Kenichi, Satoshi Tsumabuki and lots more gorgeous actors. It's just that people tend to focus more on the Johnny actors so their perception of Japanese actors becomes unfavourable.

And honestly? Yamapi is a good actor? You have GOT to be kidding me -_-

@TheIpatnano Johnnys are male idols from the megacompany Johnny & Associates, which produces boybands in Japan (similar to Korean's SME). MatsuJun, Yamapi, Ikuta Toma, Kame, Jin, etc are from that company, so they are called Johnny idols. (I love MatsuJun though <3)

There are many non-Johnny actors that are successful (like ones I mentioned above, as well as gorgeous Miura Haruma, Okada Masaki etc), but they are overshadowed by the Johnnys in terms of international exposure.
