Bad construction for differential drive steering. If you want to turn easily - points where wheels touch the ground must be on the perimeter of the circle.
Looks like a tough challenge depending on what materials your limited too. Tank treads might help, but having some sensors to control the bots function leading into some different terrain would be best. Keep it up!
This robot design (long and narrow) is unsuitable for differential steering in tank style. Short and wide robots with 4wheel drive can maneuver better.
for climbing uphill (or going down), maybe you could have designed and implemented a feedback device. A simple weight allowed to rotate offset from the vertical axis, and forward back. a large scale accelerometer. if you could work this into a control modifier to turn the robot until it is oriented straight down or up the slope it would help.
you have to many gears that will cost speed

One question why in the hell do you got a sand box in your office? O_o
SceneKidsInAmerica1 1 year ago
yeah dude, you would need tourqe over speed to go up that incline
mYNaMEIzBrADy 1 year ago
Torque is needed more than speed at this point.

should have use wider typres to improve traction

oh also having independent suspension on each tire would help as well

i would recomand tie bars going to each set of freont tyres if lego makes tie bars
bigballa97 1 year ago
you need a lil of weight on front wheels to stop the sliding!!!

OMG run away, it's out of control !!!

it just has lots of wheels and differentials

Man, front wheel design is coolio but man.... That things need to be way faster, to enter competitions at least
TrickyNekro 2 years ago
but then theres less torque

a bit to complicated design, Ive done better then that :P
server4utube 2 years ago
The gear ratio seems to be really bad, you don't need that much torque, and a gyro would fix all of you turning problems.

@JDog415 Looks like it is geared for torque - what you need to climb that wall - not speed.

The new NXT has much more power, I built a simple robot with no torque gearing and it cllimbed 40 degrees angles!
XBillums 3 years ago
Not bad but giving more power to the back or middle wheels would help it climb and keep straight.
