wow. your in australia. your accent. i can tell. nice country friendly people. america sucks. anyways i recorded something like this but bro taped over it with useless bullshit footage.
This is definately one of the best captures on YouTube. If u take it frame by frame, u can see a failed stepped leader trying to leap from the top of the SUV. Meanwhile the actual bold strikes up from the ground into the electricity cables and continues into the sky further down the wire near the pole!!! A classic perfect strike!!!
According to the OTD global lightning density map derived by NASA, Zaire (on the African continent) pales Singapore for lightning, but then again.. they havn't really got a clue either, the maps change too much every year. lol
Haha, hey BTW, I actually had a rather close encounter with a bolt just yesterday in Lancaster County, PA. That storm was crazy, we had pea-sized hail also! I wish I had my camera with me. I would be posting it now!
that beeping you hear seconds before the thunder claps is the charge running through the ground and effecting electrical products in your home or around you that are plugged in.
Hell, I was 40 FEET from a lightpost that got hit by lightning... Too bad I wasn't looking at it when it happened. Someone said the damned thing glowed purple, along with... BOOOOOOMMM!!!!
That is not impressive at all. I've seen much more intense lightning strikes here in Florida. That kind of lightning you saw, i've seen it here while its sunny out
i bet you got the shit scared out of you... i remember i was at a DC United Soccer game and a storm came through and was actually hitting the stadium... no joke it sounded like bombs
Really cool capture though... I once had this happen - in the middle of the night. Two bolts came down right on my street, there was no warning beforehand, and no more afterwards... Scared the crap outta me!
yeah that one goy in the car that captures that lighting in tha car and says it's 10 feet away and is more like 2 miles what a lire his name was lazyJuggalo that guy dont know shit aboat likening aka lightning lol.
Not very special, maybe a thunderstorm popped up above you, so you had the first lightning strike of it. It can also be an very unactive cell that produces lightning very sometimes, that slightly moved to you.

U can see the first bolt struck this side of the tree, then a second struck the far side in a split second.

a positive bolt... the bolt also lasts a bit long, nice nice!
Onweergek 4 years ago
How can you tell a positive from a negative bolt?
je641687 3 years ago
A positive strike originates from the anvil (top) of the thunderstorm commonly accosiated with intercloud activity, anvil crawlers.

Also what sometimes happens is lightning can travel several miles outside a storm cloud (arc lightning), landing somewhere litteraly out of the blue.
